  • Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy life to teach us so many things, and answer silly questions from noobs like me, and do it so patiently at that. My question is.... is there a way to carry color up the side of your work without having to cut and crochet over the tail or weave in the ends every row color change? I know in Knitting you can carry both colors along the whole project or would that make too much of a lump on the end stitch or turning chain at the end of the row?

  • After you finish the chain stitch and you turn to go into the first row of double crochets why do you only chain 2? Shouldn't you chain 3 like after you finish all the other rows?

  • i liked your video. what color would look good with the color turquoise?

  • @judycat123 other shades of blue. or maybe a soft yellow.

  • Nice job in showing how to do this pattern. It's nice to see a gent crocheting also. : )

  • If I want crochet blanket which yarn u suggest. Can u do tutorial on project using big hook. I love yr video

  • Mikey, definitely you are the best! I just follow your tutorial, and make a few notes for myself, and I end up with a beautiful headband. You should see it, came out very nice. I used two rows of beige at the center and camouflage at the borders. Thank you!

  • Is there a way to mark the stitch at the end of round 2? I'm having trouble finding it.

  • @tinabean64 you can use stitch markers (avaliable@ your local craft stores) or a simple piece of yarn to mark your stitches when you need to.... :) Cathy @ The Crochet Crowd :)

  • Mikey, This is awesome! I'm going to watch this again tomorrow on my day off and try to master it! :)

  • OMGosh! you have got to be the best one so far to 'show' and 'tell' how to do a stitch pattern! I am such a beginner but I think I'm actually 'getting it'! I so want to learn and make an Afghan! and the ripple stitch looks fun...and creates a really neat effect. Well I'm going to be practicing and watching! thank you so much for taking you time to upload these tutorials!

  • That looks really neat. When you went from the blue onto the cream color, I could see which loop you were putting in the three together and/or the three single double crochets.

  • Mikey, I've been anti-wave for years because I just couldn't figure the dratted thing out. You may have saved the wave for me. I'm going to give it a try one more time.

  • Mikey,

I have a scarf started in the wave stitch for now, but plan on making an afghan as soon as I get the yarn. I am also wondering how it would look just going into the back look of this or making it in TC. Have you ever tried either of these variations?

Thanks again for this video. I am loving having new videos that are not only for beginners. Keep them coming, always look forward to see what you have next.

  • I was wondering what yarn you used for the example in the beginning of the video. It's so nice!

  • Mikey,

I love this stitch. I have made the regular ripple afghans in the past, but I like this one so much better because it comes together faster using the DC over the SC of the old ripple afghan patterns.

Thanks again for giving us another wonderful tutorial, so much easier to learn over the written patterns.

  • You are so amazing!! After years of wanting to learn to crochet, you given me the tools Ineed to get things done. Thank you so much!!

  • Thank you so much. I've been waiting patiently for this tutorial. I plan on making scarf and maybe a lapghan.

  • Waves have been sitting in the bleachers for me for years... this is such a abig help,,, i'm taking notes and paying attention to the visual... your honesty about "fudging" stitches is cute,, only the good crocheters know this...i wanted to share that in the end stitch, i mostly go "into the space" for the last stitch.. is easy to find and sometime leaves a space which helps when trying to get a nice even edging..LOVE you tuts

  • This was amazing!!! THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to do this for years and you make it seem so doable!

  • This is different from the ripple afghans I make. I wish I had seen this earlier. Just finished making an afghan but it has the skip two stitches to make the bottom of the ripple and only crochet three double crochet to make the top of the ripple, therefore you have holes in the afghan. Love this but seems to me I will have to pay close attention to what I am doing when I make this one. Thanks for this tutorial.

  • @243laaggie I have another version of a wave coming on later today... It's lazy wave and it's not as intense and I thought to myself it's more mindless meaning you really don't need to study that closely... I hear you and was thinking the same thing.

  • i have also stugled with this stitch but with your help i will i hope get to do this.

  • You are so good! Thank you very much, I am going to wave all around!!!! (it is like the patterns of Copacabana's sidewalks....)

  • Hey Mikey, I actually learned this stitch from a woman sitting on a parked car coming home from school as a kid, but I was shown it sooo differently but with the same results and with the constant counting as well...Keep up the good work ! I'm enjoying your videos, and you hold the hook the same way I do so that helps alot :)

  • Great Stitch!!!... Thank you Mikey.....

  • very nice work :) love it! I want to make a nice scarf now for next winter !
