It does not say that the 5400 is raid 0, or any raid for that matter. you need to have two 5400 drives in raid 0 if comparing with two ssd drives in raid 0 else this is just some bias test.
ssd's are the future but still far too expensive to warrant the slight speed increase. for raid 0 you could easily pay 500.00 for 2 ssd's well you can buy a whole laptop or pc for that now days.
For laptop, they still use 5400rpm hard drives, becuase although 7200rpm is bit faster than 5400 rpm, however its hard drive life is shorter than 5400rpm. And comparing to ssd, 7200rpm is still way slower than ssd.
Solid State Drive.Youre allmost right. It uses different kind of FLASH but it works the same way.Except flash memory looses the capacity after files being replaced, modified often which in case of operating system would last you for a week. Mostly for a Month. When Windows 7 will be @ retail go with Kingston V series SSD.Its cheap, faster than HDD of course slower than regular EXPENSIVE SSDs but using 2SSDs in a Laptop is worthless. I might find the use in desktop though.Put 2HDDRAID0 vs 1SSD PLS

the test should be ssd vs hdd in raid 0 or if you want to make it a fair test each at similiar prices ssd vs 4 hdd's in raid 0.

u should have compared it with one of those Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drives :)
TheEGGtech 7 months ago
bunch of different crap loaded onto both z's.
uneven comparison, although the ssd's had more programs open &copied the files faster, they win.

In the UK I'm pretty sure there's an option to have 2, 3 or 4 SSD drives in RAID 0 config.

How many SSD drives in the RAID configuration. Good vid but lacking vital information in the description.

@GabriKnight 2 SSD
Quad SSD is only on new Vaio Z, the linked video

Probably be alot more faster on Windows 7 ...Pfft talk bout that XP would be beast.
omgitsdefault 1 year ago
Should probably compare read performance, that's where SSDs actually shine. Guess the performance gain here is mostly because of the raid.

I dont know about you guys but I would consider this much more than a "slight" speed increase.

This is not a test on SSD, this is: what' s the difference if I buy the HDD model or the one with SSD raid0?
What's the difference in daily use?

@mauroits a 5400 is not an option in KSA .. its either 7200 or SSD !!!

I am planning to buy z series could you please tell if it is this true that (mentioned on forums)
1) it gets too hot (above 55 deg celcius)
2) its keyboard are sticky
Thanks in advance

SSD's are way too expensive to be worth the slight speed increase atm.

@eskilajnenn the "slight" speed increase? You joking me right...
makmegs 1 year ago
@makmegs well for an average computer user who doesn't move files that are like 200gb large SSD's are really a penis extension imo.

??? that's a single hard drive vs 2 ssd in raid 0?
but i want to see 2 hard drive in raid 0 vs 2 ssd in raid 0. to see the real difference, because 1 hard drive vs 2 ssd raid 0 is an a obvious result.

OMG that's so fast, Raid 0 wins =]
