  • I actually know asstards that hate on the Trag,Hip!!! They live in Burlington,Ont.So I say "Hey,why dont you go across the Skyway bridge into Hamilton & hate on the Hip when yer in the HAMMER.?! If some1 lays a beatin on yer ass,I AINT helpin ya" I LOVE THE HIP! They make me proud to be Canadian! The Tragically Hip RULE!!!

  • Saw the Hip in Glasgow, small venue, was sick, sick an didnae want tae go....my son, who had just seen them in Leeds or thereabouts insisted i go.....what a night !! Was on a Hip trip for months after..........still Hiptrip often...was the first CD we ever bought..before we had a player...New Orleans.............love the band's tunes anent...............

  • 0 dislikes? Hell yeah!

  • zero dislikes... only the hip could power such a likable video

  • I'm a Newfoundlander, and this song reminds me of my late teens to early 20's living in St. John's and going to George Street at least 4 nights a week. Don't know George St? Google it, lol

  • @vampishsage - me too!!!!!!!

and the hip concerts at the old stadium.

  • fully and completely

  • When I get married, this song will be the song I will celebrate with quietly on my own. That will be the day.

  • Or the USA's red-headed stepchild! lol

  • This is the best Hip song......or Wheat Kings.....that could be argued for years on end. I love this song, its just brilliant!!!!!

  • hands down most fave tune from the hip an im from ny... cant we all just get along???

  • this song makes me proud to be canadian

  • Great band, great musicans period

  • I love the "Him, here, now" at the end of the song. Such emotion and anguish. I'm not sure how it fits into the lyrical context of the song but I don't care, it's awesome.

  • This video needs sooo many more views than a paltry 80,000.

  • @kdbrown777 i was thinking the same thing

  • I have met Gord Downie twice now. Two of the best experiences of my life.

  • @Caavy27 Downie is a very friendly outgoing person, pretty easy to talk to if you just go for it. The greatest performer I've ever met and he's all laid back and down to earth about it... I'd walk around like a god were I him, but then again I think that's part of what makes him so incredible is he still thinks he's a mortal... ^>^

  • @Truthiness231 It's just the Canadian way, the boys from Rush are apparently the same (except for Neil Peart, he's the loner of the group lol)

  • @jdawg1692 Neil is probably distracted with the "I'm the world's greatest drummer" fact constantly running through his head =P

  • @Truthiness231 Well that and the fact that his wife and daughter died within months of each other :( that fucked him up a bit.

  • @jdawg1692 Ew yeah, that would do it... lol now you've depressed me slightly

  • OMG, Honestly, why does Vevo have to suck sooo bad?!?!? Google, I thought you guys were about not doing evil??? Why do you force Vevo on us???

  • oh man! let me tell ya, this masterwork belongs among the very best of Canada. I mean phenomenal to the level of Gordon Lightfoot or Ian Thomas! I'll tell you for sure

  • One of my most played songs. Go to Rukuscovering for some good classic rock.

  • One of my most played songs.

  • Great show in sarnia last night guys!

  • @kathleenvh i envy you.

  • Canada loves Tragically Hip!

  • I'm from Niagara Falls in the States, and a ton of us think the Hip are honestly the best damn thing ever. Much love to Canada's finest. Saw them in T.O on Canada Day, going to when they come to Buffalo on the 30th

  • @NPSLusa Downsview park?? if so i was there :)

  • One of their best......kinda reminds me of U2's '40'....

  • Did I say Canada? I meant America junior!!

  • @CMLTOZ you got it all wrong ! Here's a little geography course. Canada is a country and people who live there are called Canadians. United States of America is also a country and people living there are called United-Staters. America is a continent. So Canadians, United Staters, Mexicans, Peruvians, Brazilians are all Americans. You should know that but maybe your megalomania has taken over.

  • @taehwiniM Im from Watertown NY got see the Hip this past June it was a great show! See us NNYers thats Norhern New Yorkers are basically from southern Canad ya know what im talking aboot? From Kingston Ontario an hour north our friends the Tragically hip!!!!

  • @taehwiniM america isn't a continent. *north* and *south* america are two distinct continents. u.s. citizens are colloquially referred to as 'americans' by nearly everyone, and i have never in my entire life heard anyone call them 'united staters'. i'm also not sure why it's our patriotic duty as canucks to make sanctimonous, petty u.s.-bashing statements on every hip video. the 90s called, they want their 'canadian girls kick ass' hoodies back. get your own fucking identity. jesus.

  • @misterbizzones LMAO..as an ex-pat i can assure you that it is your duty..you are a Canadian...we rock..some other places suck..........errm, am in Scotland..........we don't suck........:D

  • It seems like every time I see the view count of a Tragically Hip video, I think it should be at least ten times higher. Turn it up, and enjoy!

  • It seems like every time I see the view count, I think it should be at least ten times higher. Turn it up, and enjoy!

  • @CMLTOZ badmouth Canada your on the bottom bunk think again

  • @CMLTOZ shutup queer

  • @CMLTOZ Troll :D

  • @CMLTOZ Fuck you, Canada is the most beautiful and most respected country in the world. The USA is the fattest and most hated country in the world. Suck it.

  • not a typical song by them but so fucking epic

  • Scroll down all the Hip's songs..... the number of "views" is an utter disgrace...... Top 10 band of all time!!!!!!!!! Fuck the marketing and the general public!!!!

  • @JohnnyWanex I am Canadian, currently living in Europe and lived in the USA the last 10 years before that. I can say. I actually like the small number of video views. It means they are still one of the truly original Canadian bands out there, that didn't have to sell themselves out and head south to be happy.

  • Yeah, no prob. From: Canada

  • God I love the Hip. thanks Canada.

  • Kickass line:: Armed with will and determination. Makes me shiver!

  • @donewiththewoods Hehe.. yeah, just wish I knew what the rest of it meant

  • I love this bass line

  • This song would be in my top 25 of all time.

  • if you liked this, then youd like the band Strippers Union

  • Lived in Canada most of my life, now I'm home in the U.K. and am so happy for youtube, I can't do without the hip!!!!!!!

  • first heard the hip when i was like 10, i was immediately glued to it. go fishing, drink some beer, sit in a plastic lawn chair around a nice fire. thats what i call canadian

  • @holyshitrock456 Drinking beer at ten, now thats Canadian, cheers.

  • I need a rye by my side.

  • lol @ at the hate a nd jealousy of americans lol

  • this song is my first love from The Hip, heard it years ago and had no clue what i was in for. great band, You Canadians really do know how to rock!!

  • Was living in Alberta for a year when this came out

    Great times and great memories

  • Love this song...Love this band

  • Been a fan from till the Road Apples album.

Saw them a few times live here in Paradiso (Amsterdam).

GD is one of the best performers/frontman/singers i ever saw.

And i have seen a lot a dem come and go.

Poor man's REM? F###k that, it's the other way round...

    Great

  • @DaddyKir REM can't hold a candle to the Hip. And in typical US fashion, they wouldn't even care to compare as they got their M$80 deal with Sony and then left the planet while the Hip rolled on and on. Please refrain comparing the Hip to REM. Its like comparing team Canada (hockey) to team USA (not the juniors).

  • @swassontelus Exactly!

  • LOve this tune RIP Steven

  • my Buddy Steve RIP I think of you everytime I hear this tune xoxoxo

  • I love Canada with all my heart!! Best country in the world, Happy Canada day, Hip Hip and more Hip today!

  • I love this shit.

  • missin '94 like MFer

  • best song to jam to with the boys on a nice summer night after a case of ol' millys..

  • i love CANADA

  • @nesteaNRG I love Canada too, an I'm American....trying to figure out how to get out of here lol!

  • @Hobbgoblin1 I always admire brave Americans like you and Johnny Depp for saying the same thing. It must be quite the let down when an American finally is self aware and realizes just how hated they are on the world stage. Many good folks in the USA, but for some reason the image is staggeringly selfish and ignorant. You are welcome here any time - just bring a shovel.

  • @swassontelus Thank you friend for your kind words, but why a shovel?

  • @Hobbgoblin1 I do believe the shovel comment was about our immense amount of snow on a yearly basis. A good shovel is a good investment.

  • @habzfan13 Oh I see, thanks for taking the time to clear that up for me. To be honest I wouldn't mind the snow at all because...CANADA STILL RULES THE WORLD!!!!!

  • @nesteaNRG Me too.

  • This band should have been at the 2010 closing ceremonies, playing last and given more than 1 song to play.

  • @Camsauce87 no question. olympic ceremony commitee needed more smart people like you I guess.

  • @jiggles1274 The Olympics are steroid filled McDonald burgers between Wonderbread. No need to bring true talent to that table.

  • @Camsauce87 Please don't give the Olympics that much credit. I don't think the Hip would place themselves alongside McDonalds and Wonderbread.

  • @Camsauce87 For those of us that understand the truth about that globalist event, may I just say: 'Phew!', I love the Hip so much, taking part in that event would have been a sell out on such a soul level, I couldn't have felt the same about them again. And I LOVE this band!

  • Epic Song!! :)

  • This song typefies why The Tragically Hip are so completely brilliant. They have the uncanny ability to reinvent themselves album to album.

This song reminds me of cold winter nights at my lake house, going outside to gaze at the stars, and pounding back beer after beer. (Canadian beer, of course!)

I saw The Hip when they came to my home town. I was just a few feet away from Robbie Baker. It was like having a musical orgasm.

    (and no, I'm not gay)

  • @santoslittlehelper06 Couldnt have said it better myself.HIP 4 LIFE!!!

  • @santoslittlehelper06 totally and completely!!!!!!!!

  • Yet another shining example of Lyrical Genious! Not just one maybe two verses, but throughout each and every song. :>

  • Live, this song is the best! Saw them for my birthday, they are Amazing!

  • ouch... the TH? has made it to classics already?

Seems like only yesterday, they were in Queens U Canada, then off to MTV, some great gigs in NY city, yea, you could smoke drink and hip check all you wanted-.OK it "is" a classic.

RIP Zach- Your fav band The Tragically Hip is from Canada the US border is a couple miles by ferry, the locals + love them

  • such a classic song
