  • I sure as balls don't need saving. But I need me some mo fuggin wonder years!

  • Lot is a man from the book of Genesis who impregnated his two daughters. However he was still regarded as a righteous man of god in the Bible. Hence, "If Lot was righteous, I think I'd rather not be."

  • Realist Pop Punk , you have to love the wonder years.

  • <3

  • THIS SONG RIGHT HERE <3 TWY just pretty much said it all right here

  • some of the comments on this video are stupid assume you're too careless to look at it critically !! be free don't follow make your own opinions on things just because soupy don't like dose not mean you don't have to like it . i am not religious but i do believe in freedom ! =]

  • If we're all just Christians or Lions

Then I think I'd rather be on the side with sharper teeth

    I don't need saving

  • My mind is made up there's going to be trouble.

You should have seen me reading Marx.

My psychoanalyst thinks I'm perfectly right.

    I won't say the Lord's Prayer.

I have mystical visions and cosmic vibrations.

  • their ideas of Christianity are true in terms of how a lot of churchgoers nowadays are. But I am a Christian and I love God and I try not to be some of the negative things misguided Christians can be

  • soo are the wonder years christians that arent very religious? cuz im confused with this song

  • @Ryanincambonia i think Soupy is atheist, but he's ok with religious people. this song is about how nobody should be pushed into believing something. they should only believe something if they want to.

  • god is fake, the wonder years are real.

    case closed.

  • Agreed ... FUCK THE CHURCH BELLS

  • You'll stop progress if it contradicts what you're told to believe. <3

  • if you like the wonder years, you love the wonder years. there is no grey area with them

  • I love this song, it's me in a nutshell.

  • This whole debate is ridiculous. I consider myself a strong Christian, and I love this song and TWY. Come here for the music, not anything else.

  • holy shit i met these dudes at the Warped Tour at camden, their hometown show! one of my favorite bands, and i get to see them again at Pop Punk's Not Dead!!!!!!!!!!

  • This band is too good.

  • @alecpierzga Lot was this guy in the bible who fucked his daughters after he got shitfaced

  • fuck god believe in yourself

  • @shredder1390

    Sharks?

  • @circasurviver657 indeed it is my friend, they're a sick band saw them at reading festival

  • @shredder1390

They played with Title Fight and Four Year Strong. Great show.

  • This song makes me love TWY even more. Stay God Free.

  • all i have to say about this song is... fucking finally. this idea is so refreshing.

  • I listen to this song constantly b/c every one in my school is hardcore christian witch wouldn't bother me if they didnt constantly try to change me. im not saying god doesn't exist its just i dont know for sure. no one does

  • Thanks Jesus, I fucking have clinical depression thanks to you and all the shit you thrown at me. Thanks to this my life is pretty much destroyed

  • amazing song, probably the best of this album for me, thanks for the upload!! =)

  • I don't need to be judged by a man I can't see, and then bow down to him. I've got nothing against religious people, except for the crazy ones... But this song is amazing for actually standing up against everyone who thinks they're better than everyone else because they have Jesus on their side? Alright bro. Good luck with that mentality.

  • for the longest time i thought the lyrics were "if blood was righteous, i think i'd rather not be." but then i found out that they were actually "if Lot was righteous." now who the hell is Lot

  • @alecpierzga I wanna know who Lot is too

  • @AmiLikesChiodos Lot lived in Sodom, which was destroyed by God because it was *~homosexual*~. (It should also be noted that Lot offered his virgin daughters to these homosexual men to get them to go away & they refused his daughters.) He also fathered his own grandkids... but for some reason they still consider him a prophet since his "job" was to warn the gays in Sodom...

Please note that I don't believe ANY of the bullshit I just relayed to you & I just wanted you to have the context =] haha

  • @AmiLikesChiodos Lot is a biblical character. When God told him to take his family and flee the city of Sodom and never look back, his wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. In order to carry on the line, and since there were no other men around, his daughters got him shitfaced for two consecutive nights and took turns screwing him without his knowledge. So basically, if he was righteous... Soupy (and I) would rather not be.

  • @AmiLikesChiodos Lot was a figure in the bible who lived in Gommorah. When two angels came to tell him the fate the city was about to undergo, the townspeople were about to rape them. So Lot, gave his two daughters to recieve the raping instead of the angels.

  • Lot is from Genesis. He left Sodom and gomorrah, fled to the mountains, got drunk, and had sex with his daughters. God allowed him to leave Sodom and gomorrah, because he said he was righteous.

  • @alecpierzga its a biblical character. the kingdon of sodom and what not.

  • @alecpierzga Lot was a guy who lived in Sodom, the famous city that got destroyed for being Lusty and stuff. He fleed the city but he looked back, and thus (due to a deal with god) his wife turned into stone. Him and his daughters went to live in a cave, eventually they wanted kids but realising that they couldnt find any guys where they were they got Lot drunk and had sex with their OWN DAD. But for some reason he is hailed as a holy man...

  • @alecpierzga lot is a guy from the bible, dont ask me who from the bible but i know he did sometin in the bible.

  • @alecpierzga Lot came from the Biblical story of Sodoma and Gomorrah. God had sent two angels to the town to investigate, but the townspeople tried to rape the angels. Lot, not wanting his town to get a bad reputation, offered his own daughters to be raped by them instead.

  • @alecpierzga @AmiLikesChiodos Lot is a person from the Book of Genesis chapters 11-14 and 19, in the Hebrew Bible. Notable episodes in his life include his travels with his uncle Abram (Abraham, the Patriarch of Israel); his flight from the Kingdom of Sodom, in the course of which Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt; and the seduction by his daughters so that they could bear children.

  • @AmiLikesChiodos @alecpierzga

Both Christians and Muslims revere Lot as a righteous man of God.[2] The Biblical stories of drunkenness and incest attributed to Lot are absent in the Qur'an, being rejected by Muslims – Lot is venerated as a Prophet of Islam.

I got all this from wikipedia. It was bothering me too. I knew he had to be biblical but I had no idea who he was exactly. Haha. (:

  • @alecpierzga Lot is a dude from the old testement.

  • @alecpierzga Lot is the nephew of Abram, later called Abraham in history found in the Bible, son of Haran. I'm assuming that's what the writer is referring to.

  • @alecpierzga guy in the bible who was basically a drunk piece of shit

  • @alecpierzga Lot's story can be found in Genesis chapters 11-14, and 19. He's generally considered a righteous man in the Bible, but there are some pretty big mistakes of his recorded there.

    I hope this helps!

  • @alecpierzga Lot was the one who screwed his daughters.

  • @kbottani And he also offered them up to be gang raped.

  • @alecpierzga Lot is from Genesis. He escaped sodom and gomorrah, then went to the mountains, got drunk, and had sex with his daughters.

  • @alecpierzga Lot is mentioned in the Book of Genesis...Both Christians and Muslims revere Lot as a righteous man of God...random fact! Not sure how I know that, I'm atheist ha XD

  • Holy fuck, This song is exactly why i don't believe in religion, christianity and every other religion is full of hypocrites and liars

If all of the christians call themselves christian by standing in a church, am i a car when I'm standing in a garage? no, so 9 out of every 10 christians are liars and fakes

  • Wonder Years are definitely one the best pop punk bands EVER! And they are actually pop "PUNK"!

  • lol at these christians judging other christians. aren't you guys supposed to be the opposite or whatever? isn't your "god" supposed to be the only judge? the "i am holier than thou" attitude is so old.

  • I love god, and I love this song/band. It's not the religion that is bad, it's the people in it.

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time (by any band). Such a powerful lyrical message with such powerful music behind it. This is one of the many songs that sets The Wonder Years apart from any band that I have ever heard. now I don't know if they were specifically talking about Christians. I mean think about it, other religions do the same exact thing (Muslim, Judaism, Christianity, Catholicism, etc...). anyway, every time this song finishes i sit there and say "WOW" =)

  • its the norm for people to reject god for this or that reason.

but dont turn it into a new way of being cool dammit.

you make it seem like Im a Christian out of spite of You Guys, which are the accidental hipsters.

  • @AmiLikesChiodos im saying its Cool to reject god now. can you people (not You, im speaking generally) just reject god cuz your an asshole, not because its fashonable. its okay to be unsure, but i dont think the majority of the people who commented on this were Just unsure

  • @Dalton856Cedarville You shouldn't believe in God or Christianity because its completely illogical. The bible is just some made up story like the Easter bunny or the tooth fairy. It doesn't make anyone an asshole to reject something that doesn't exist.

  • @Dalton856Cedarville Moses was tripping, DEAL WITH IT

  • @Dalton856Cedarville God doesn't exist. There is evidence. gtfo haha

  • @Dalton856Cedarville I mainly reject god because he stopped doing anything after we tuned our ability to record and document events reliably.

  • @Dalton856Cedarville i understand, but you shouldnt reject (anything) cuz it hasnt done anything for you. are you gonna say Fuck Trees since they never say whats up?

  • People seriously act like its the norm to be christian ahaha ignorant fucks.

  • @riku510 It kinda is the norm to be a Christian. And don't stereotype people who believe that. I've done my research. I believe that Christianity is a sick religion. I believe in God but I do not follow him or his word.

  • As a Christian who questioned his own beliefs, I want angry atheists to understand something: Questioning a Christian upbringing is SCARY and PAINFUL. Try to imagine what it would be like to realize that you've been lied to by everyone your whole life, especially your own family... then at the same time, they tell you something is wrong with you, and you are going to hell.

It's much easier to just sweep doubts under the rug, especially when you're told doubts come from Satan to lead you astray.

  • P.S.....The Wonder Years is probably one of the top 5 Best Pop Punk bands of all time. Especially with The Upsides...favorite pop punk album of all time

  • @beezlebobby thank you for appropriately stating your beliefs, unlike that other guy. Everyone who hasn't already should read Soupy's interview with alternative press about this song. It's on their website.

  • I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior. I don't believe any of these people need prayed for by someone on the youtube comments. If they wanna live their life, let them live it, there's nothing wrong with the way they wanna live.

  • it's silly that people can't just accept that there are different beliefs, and don't say you do because if you did you wouldn't be telling people you're gonna pray for them as if something is wrong with them. There is nothing wrong with diversity. Get the fuck over it. People are gonna like what they are gonna like and gonna believe in what they wanna believe in. You are not gonna "open someone's eyes to a new way of life." Live your life the way you want and get on with it.

  • I'm a Christian and at first i thought this song was very blasphemous but the more i listened to it and read through the lyrics and found a deeper meaning to the song i feel that the message he is trying t get across is perfect not to mention the song has a great pop-punk melody that brings sounds from Set Your Goals and The Swellers which is AWESOME to hear.

  • i'll pray for you guys.

  • @ianedwards19 dude fuck off, troll. first, there isn't anything wrong with non-belief, second, you're not trying to help us, you're hoping that by praying "for" us your religion will have an effect on other people's lives.

  • @XjesstenX I prayed for you 4 days ago. After reading this I'll pray for you again.

  • @ianedwards19 What is there to pray for man? There is nothing wrong with him and anyone who doesn't believe in god. Get over it.

  • @AmiLikesChiodos I'm praying that he gives you guys the power to believe. This is making me sad to think people can miss out on going to heaven. :( I'm sorry guys.

  • @ianedwards19 poor child, wasting time devoting yourself to things that don't exist and don't make sense. if anyone should feel sorry for anyone it's non believers that should feel sorry for you. i'd rather make the most of the time in my life and not waste it going to church and having the baggage of using god to explain things. occams razor. learn it. your god makes no sense, he creates people knowing they will go to hell and the ones that do go to heaven are completely obedient robots.

  • @ianedwards19 quit being such a douchebag thinking your lifestyle is so much better than others to where you need to pray for them in the hopes that they will be the same as you. it won't do anything and it just makes you look like a self-absorbed ass that pities those that don't need to be pitied.

  • @ianedwards19 I don't know WHY you had to start this by posting something like that on a music video. You knew what would happen by doing it. So kindly just end it here. The point of this video is for music not for arguing that won't lead anywhere since you obviously are a close-minded person that won't change. Just to let you know, I used to be mormon and the more I found out through the internet, the more impossible it became to believe in a god. You can do the same if you take the time.

  • @XjesstenX

Please stoppp :( . I'm honestly shedding tears right now. I don't know what to do. I know you guys don't want to listen to me, but I beg of you to go to church, or talk with someone about God.

  • @ianedwards19 dude your trolling is a little too obvious. if you aren't, you're like a freaking woman and need to man up... kind of pathetic. i'm just going to ignore any other responses from you, ok? kthxbai.

  • @XjesstenX I am really emotional about this subject. i can't help it. Bye God bless.

  • @ianedwards19 dude i'm a christian and YOU are the exact definition of a bad christian because you tried to force these people to obey when in actuality you made them hate Christianity even more by the fact that you were over-baring because if they don't want religion in their life its THEIR choice NOT YOURS to force upon them. THUMBS UP THIS COMMENT IF YOU BELIEVE I'M RIGHT IN THIS ARGUMENT. BTW... THE WONDER YEARS FREAKING ROCK!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAltMusic YOU ARE A HORRIBLE CHRISTIAN. If you were a good christian you would care for these peoples lives. i bet you dont go to church. you just like to call yourself a christian.

  • @ianedwards19 "I bet you don't go to church." xD

  • I haven't heard much of their music but they earn mad respect for this song.

  • Favorite song on the album. Lyrics are masterfully done

  • "I think that anything that willfully stands in the way of progression towards curing diseases or equality for everyone is dangerous. I think that anything that has a mentality that their leader is infallible and, as such, provides a path that you must follow, is dangerous. I'm not telling anyone what to believe, but take some time and do some reading. Don't let yourself get bullied into a belief system. Everyone has the right to their faith if they want it—but that's if they want it." - Soupy

  • New favorite band

  • I can't get over how amazing this new album is. The Wonder Years never disappoint. :)

  • Probably my favorite song of the new album, so good.

  • You see what Soupy is saying here is that he doesn't believe in a tyrannical figure that is willing to send billions of his own creations to a lake of fire that burns for all eternity, simply for making a wrong decision or never coming to know him over the course of 80 years, give or take on the amount of years. Also he probably isn't a fan of the whole, do ANYTHING I tell you thing, like; "kill your own son if I say so Abraham, lol jk"... I mean that's what I got out of this song anyway.

  • @huhhhhhhhhhhhh09 and another point is if god is so all-knowing and powerful, he would know the people he creates would go to hell before he created them. it makes no sense to create thing just to make them suffer. also free will cannot exist because of this, only the illusion of free will since we are already destined to a fate he already knows. it's a totalitarian system with no appeal. the way their god works is in a human, imperfect manner.

  • @XjesstenX Yep it is frustrating to me that people simply ignore such obvious flawed logic, I have no problem with people believing in a god but why the fuck would you follow THIS asshole?

  • Really good
