I think I've written a bit to much, but there are so many features it would take forever to actually type out. The Remote Play Ps3 option, saving Blu-Ray games to the harddrive, etc. But I think I've made my point. The Ps3 IS next-gen. Not only that, but its goddamn sexy to look at, physically, graphically, and practically. Ps3 Ftw.

The Ps3 is a really great multi-media device, with lots of little extra and refined features that make it better than the norm Like being able to do things with the movie player that you cant do in others, upscaling regular dvds, choosing your music and dvd bitrate, etc. The only thing missing is listening to your music while playing a game. My dream of listening to Christian music while play Killzone 2 or Rammstein while playing LittleBigPlanet is ruined, but thats what my Mp3 is for I guess.

Theres also the Playstation Network, where you can go and download movies, games, demos, whatevers on there. The only things that cost money are the games themselves, everything else is free unless the developer says it should cost something. I havent messed around with the Live Marketplace much, but I like being able to see dollars in the price, and not Points. Points are just a way of helping make the price seem smaller and less real. I like being able to see how much it really is.

BlockBuster has also announced that it will now only serve Blu-Ray movies and the HD movies it had before the announcment in the format war, so already Blu-Ray is leading in some way. The PS3, excluding the 80gb, has the Emotion Engine, allowing you to play Ps1 and Ps2 games on your Ps3. I know the 360 has backwards compatibility too, but its software based. That doesnt necessarily mean that you can play all your old games on it, because the software might not support it fully.

Its also been announced that by the end of March 2008, the Ps3 will have 250+ more games. Not 250 total games, 250 more games. So by March next year, its going to have 300 games out total, and with Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Lair, 2 FFXIII games, Ratchet and Clank, Assassins Creed, (Which I realize is going to be on the 360, but I never said anything about exclusives) Gran Turismo 5, Call of Duty: 4, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, the next FEAR game, the list goes on.

Games like Resistance: Fall of Man use 21gb of the Blu-Ray disk, and Lair uses all 25. Meaning that the 360 would never be able to do something like that. And if they did, it would have to be seriously reinvented to actually fit. Sony plans for the Ps3 to be a 10 year console, which means that its limits are vastly unexplored as of yet. $600 isnt much, and if you act within the next 6+ months, you can get it for $500 in North America.

One thing thats also being left out when people compare the consoles is that the Ps3 has 7 cell processors. Now most people wouldnt know what those can do, but instead of the system working out formulas one at a time, you can have multiple formulas being worked on at once. This allows for visual miracles in game.

On the other hand, the PS3 has 25gb of storage, which is doubled if you use the other side. This allows for much more options on the developers part. I'm not exactly sure if Blu-Ray is HD in a sense, but when you can have twice the amount of pixels on screen, it definatly looks better.

The Wii will do good, but now that theyre going to market to casual gamers and non gamers instead of their core gamers more, they'll lag a little in sales because casual and non gamers dont need new games that often. The 360 will also do good, but it can only have 9gb of information, 18 at most if you use the other side of the disk. This creates a massive limit which developers will have to work around. And from what I hear, thats not even in HD. Its $200 for an HD movie addon.
