As a fan of The Pogues, I have one question. Shane MacGowan - and his legions of fans - often cite The Pogues as an Irish band, and balk at the notion of them being a 'British' band. Yet, the fact that the Pet Shop Boys beat Fairytale of New York to the Christmas #1 spot in Britain is mentioned repeatedly in this clip, and the fact that it actually DID achieve the Christmas #1 in Ireland isn't mentioned once. What's the deal? Do Irish single-buyers matter less than British single-buyers?

@padraic2001eire actually its because they lived in London at the time would see them around Camden in those days nothing personal, but in those days you could not lay a bet in Ireland and get 50/1 I am sure they did lay a wager but for legal reasons kept it quiet
