  • Frees the dasy

  • where can i get dry ice?

  • thoroughly unimpressive

  • Freeze the daisy!

  • wasnt dry ice solid Carbon dioxide??

  • @CheshireGrinningCat It is carbon dioxide in solid form.

  • where in welding is dry ice used? what purpose does it serve there? thanks.

  • > where in welding is dry ice

@qwertzu3 as with liquid nitrogen, not much. Welding supply stores are actually gas bottle distributors, so they're the source for all non-welding gas products for hospitals, research labs etc.

  • Hmmm... How on earth could this go wrong?

  • nothing even close to nitrogen.

    Dry ice - -78.5 C

    Liquid nitrogen - -196 C

    Feel the difference

  • teach me something useful show us how to make methamphetamine

  • Really cool. But you absolutely terrified me the way you handled that butcher's knife.

  • @Kckeller too many television shows.

Get some footage of mom chopping veggies, post to youtube, it looks terrifying. After all, whenever you see someone on TV chopping carrots, you just KNOW they have to cut off their finger. If bacon is frying, Rohrsach is required to use it as a weapon. (Well, not so much if it's the Watchmen cooking show, where they always throw their leftovers to dogs in the back yard.)

  • Amazing video.

  • This is a great little video- I like your sense of humor. "Don't put it in your mouth" "It's like cryogenic napalm"... Awesome.

  • so how do you get rid of this ?

  • > get rid of this?

@jonnoguano12 it's just rubbing alcohol. Re-use it by letting it warm up, pour into labeled bottle for next time.

  • @trainedtiger he doesn't sound condescending at all...

  • i think there is a better poor mans liquid nitrogen just take some canned air like for blowing dust out of your computer and turn it upside down and spray the real liquid nitrogen on things , just letting you know = safer too just do it outside ,the fumes are pretty strong

  • @pjbassturd and don't let any of it touch your skin, because now put a bitterent into it, " to protect us" . your fingers will taste horrible for hours.

  • im a kid i know what im doing i did this lots of time so uh yea

  • @trainedtiger I'll condesend your butthole with dry ice

  • sounds like ross from friends

  • This guy looks like he cook's meth.

  • someone should do a loop of freeze the daisy.

  • Cryogenic Napalm: Sounds like it should be a Vietnam-era cover band name.

  • BATF and DEA kicking this guys door down in 3... 2... 1...

  • @valvehouse And why do you think that would happen? Please explain and post facts to back up your statement.

  • How can I make an experiment out of this please reply very soon !!

  • if you were to find a way to collect the gas from the alcohol on the dry ice... say in a balloon... would it be flammable?

  • yeah let me just grab my emergency space blanket real quick

  • It looks like your teaching how to cook crystal meth

  • freeze the daisy

  • dried squirt

  • Yummy

  • Can you use the bottles to make BONGS instead?

  • how are you touching the dry ice with bare hands????

  • @abbymichellexx see my other video DRY ICE IS IT LETHALLY DANGEROUS? Dry ice behaves like hot baked rolls or pizza crust, won't burn you instantly. No problem if touched briefly under 2sec, or juggle it between hands. But if you grab and squeeze, gives you bad frostbite blisters.

  • @abbymichellexx you can touch it with bare hands... as long as you don't keep it in one spot it won't freeze your skin

  • @abbymichellexx You can even put it in your mouth, because the moisture of your mouth, will keep the dry ice from touching skin : D You can then breath smoke out of your nose like a dragon. AND you can swallow little pieces, if you want to burp smoke.

  • its the jack nicholson of science

  • 3:50 FREEZE THE DAISY!

  • cryogenic napalm?!

    BAD

    ASS.

  • Nerd

  • nice now i have a quicker way to freeze my paintballs.

  • this trick work for overclocking?

  • could u freeze a lego man in tis?!

  • Hello, I was just wondering what alcohol did you use, would ISOPROPANOL IPA Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% Pure (250ml) be okay to use?

  • So,.....in the name of science, I'm trying to shoot my eye out,( j/k ), was curious can I run this through a Super-Soaker ? Also, will it burn ? Will it undergo an explosive phase transition ? Thanks man, love your videos.

  • @1isaacmusic can't be trusted with power tools. Round-ended scissors only.

  • @wbeaty I have scissors and I'm not afraid to run with them >:) I guess I'll have to machine a stainless steel super-soaker..

  • @wbeaty huh? so this will or wont work in a supersoaker

  • @braseldazzle It would probably destroy the inner components of the supersoaker anyway so dont even bother.

  • @1isaacmusic

    "can I run this through a Super-Soaker"

no, the rubber pressure chamber would be quickly destroyed. and most of the rest of the cheap plastic thing wouldn't take kindly to it.

even pvc pipe (go-to material for these sorts of things) is severely compromised by such low temperatures.

    yes, it would hurt

    no, it wouldnt change phase.

  • awesome! i am really into sience, but i dont think i would be able to do this, i am still pretty young, but i love watching your videos!

  • Chryogenic napalm...Nice!...dont let the U.S military hear you say that.

  • @zxana I had tried to look for dry ice at Walmart online but I couldn't find it. I guess things are different down here in Florida

  • @wbeaty Thanks for the help they have dry ice at publix... I didnt think to look there :)

  • I am in 8th grade and im doing this for a science fair project. I can't find a store that sells dry ice. (-_-) Is it ok to use 91% rubbing alcohol? PLEASE ANSWER BACK very soon I need an answer like now or tomorrow... lol ok but seriously...

  • @jordam121 Call a big grocery store and ask for the seafood department. Don't ask them for dry ice. Instead, ask them which stores sell it. People are always trying to find it, so they should know where to send you. Here in Seattle they have it at some Fred Meyer stores, also QFC. But they only will sell to adults, since kids will try to make explosions and get hurt by accident.

  • @jordam121 here in alabama they sell dry ice in walmart's customer service department

  • @jordam121 publix for dry ice

  • how is he using his bare hands to pick up the dry ice?

  • @theAman67 The same way anyone could. 18+ for safety!

  • lol well didn't really have a reason to watch this video but at least i now know how to turn fruit into weapons!

  • Duhhhhhh

  • I just froze a cherry so now imma put it in my mouth

  • I'm a kid and I will still do it :D

  • @OmarDreid ikr xD

  • well i put it in my bong and then the fire from the lighter melted it DUMB SHIT

  • Comment removed

  • what if you use water

  • @djtormento1 solid ice. Daisy just bounces off, won't freeze.

  • @wbeaty LOL YOU THINK A HAMMER WOULD WORK A LITTLE EASIER TO BREAK THE ICE

  • thank so much im doing this right now! its fun to freze bread

  • Freeze the daisy!

  • youst wantet to say cryogenic napalm is about the awsomest name ever for it XD

  • could you use this to make magnets float (maglev trains)?

  • No safety glasses and the bottle is right at the edge of the table...

  • @TheJohnnybelfast Should we all hang out on cooking videos and berate people for using improper safety equipment?

    :)

This demo is NOT FOR KIDS. It's not quite as hazardous as frying some bacon on the stove. If you let your youngsters use the stove then they need safety goggles, face shield, footwear, a rubber chem smock, and elbow-length oven mitts. Adults cooking breakfast, not.

  • Comment removed

  • > Safety glasses are enforced so teachers don't get lawsuits

That, and to cultivate good habits in the lab, since lab work sometimes involves exploding glassware which sprays reagents across the room. With cryo-alcohol, the main hazard is that you'll spill it on your foot or dump it in your lap. Same hazard with bacon. In the kitchen, naked cooking isn't a wise idea.

    - "None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. YOU'RE LOCKED UP IN HERE WITH ME.."

  • SWEEEEET

Time to make my cryogenic napalm gun using a leaf blower and this beauty.

  • i want to freeze lots of cherries and then throw them at people

  • remember kids dont try this at home.....go to a friends house

  • WHOA its chester molester!

  • hmmm cryogenic napalm, Super soaker time! j/p

  • thanks for the idea im 13 btw

  • Couldnt you just use a hammer on the ice? Would have been faster.

  • @Wyrmnax try a hammer, doesn't work. Dry ice isn't brittle, won't shatter. It's more like compressed CO2 snow. A hammer just makes dents. A power saw is best. Or just buy the pellets-peanuts shaped dry ice.

  • I heard Acetone works aswell.

  • Can you freeze and make instant coffee?

  • First: I don't like what you're doing to flowers, mister!

Second: Poorer man's liquid nitrogen is... liquid butane ;)

    Or butane/propane winter mix. :D

  • Mad Scientist hair...can you dig?

  • sad

  • thumbs up if you think he loves rubber balls

  • you think your all saftey you justtouched the ice with no gloves fyi no kid is going to be able to get a hold of a couple pounds of dry ice

  • makes breaking padlocks and other thin metals easier, while using thermite on bank vaults and armored cars easy pickings xD

  • NOT ENOUGHT MNEY FOR FROSEN ROSE TRICK?))

  • I know how sub-zero kills now

  • im a kid too. asshole

  • Im a kid

  • WAIT this is for kids?

  • Why can't you just use water?

  • @wizzofwater101 alcohol has an insanely low freezing point. So the dry ice makes the alcohol almost as cold as liquid nitrogen. Using standard water, the water will merely freeze solid.

  • @MisterCrowley23 Thanks. I wasn't quite thinking that one through. I feel stupid now :/

  • Cryogenic Napalm!

  • Tried to use this for medical purposes like like liquid nitrogen. Not nearly cold enough unfortunately.

  • Ok, so i have found that no matter how long you hold a flame to this "cryogenic napalm" it won't light if it can't reach it's ignition temp, i guess it was kinda dumb of me to assume otherwise, now it's time to make real cryogenic napalm. :)

  • drink it!

  • I wonder if you could light the cryogenic napalm on fire, welp now i know what i'm doing tomorrow night.

  • So did you pour the alcohol into the smaller container, or was the liquid in there just from the outer container?

  • but will it blend?

  • Thumbs up for cryogenic napalm

  • would car window washing liquid work?

and would it still stick if i use the 99.99 % alcohol?

  • That was a cool little lesson thanks

  • freeze the daisy

  • sorta cool, rather acquire real liquid nitrogen cuz you said this stuff sticks? that does not sound fun i have the best science teacher ever i can get liquid nitrogen if i need it for a legitimate cause.

  • @bsboy20 It's not like it's hard for an 18 year old legal resident to buy liquid nitrogen themselves. You just have to know where to get it. I live in california so it's all over. :)

  • @mynameismatt2010 Most places will rent you a dewar for transport. But they probably won't fill your thermos bottle, since they could get in trouble. Lawsuits.

  • ...and you wonder where kids these days get their ideas from...

  • If you do this same demo using a bathtub and your body, will you freeze like a T-1000??

  • I know something else you can do with alcohol.

Great experiment tough, interesting video :) !

  • You do know that for making holes in materials, most swiss army knives have a tool for that, so you don't need to screw up the scissor blades.

  • @EdsEnemy Watch closely. I wasn't using the scissors,

  • @wbeaty - This is not even close to being like liquid nitrogen, liquid nitrogen has a temp. of -196C -321F.

A flower or fruits like tomato, apple, orange, whatever you put in liquid nitrogen for only 30 seconds will shatter into a million pieces when dropped on the floor or hit on a table. The garbage you're using is no colder than the dry ice itself which would be -79C -109F

  • Lol I'm gonna try this "am I a kid" "um yer don't tell. don't worry I know what I'm doing"

  • We did a simular thing in P-Chem' except we used methanol in a thermous

  • so its safe to say that u just probaly showed over a million people how to freeze there friends, pets, and thier own balls right? perhaps this should go without warning but u probaly should have told people (and by people i mean idiots or jerks) not to throw the stone cherries at people.

  • @77yvurc Also don't kill anyone using the the sharp corner of a frozen washcloth.

Now don't go google up "pykecrete"

  • @77yvurc and i quote "not for kids, its for science teachers and physics demonstrators." hopefully anyone qualified to teach or demonstrates these things, understands that dangerous things should not be used to harm others.

  • hmm... Liquid Nitrogen cost about $0.10 per liter if you buy it in massive amounts.

  • @N00Baholic and have a reason to buy it...

  • This is also why putting hard liquor in a deep freezer is dangerous. It doesn't freeze and if you then try to drink it before warming it up you can freeze burn your mouth and upper GI tract.

  • Ethanol (from Lowes or Home Depot) works well too, and has a lower melting point (-114C) and opposed to -89C for isoPropanol, but both are below the temp of dry ice (-78C). It is more dangerous than liquid nitrogen as there is no liedenfrost effect since the alcohol doesn't boil below skin temperature. This technique is also a "poor man's" way to recover the freon from an AC without having an expensive pump. Evac a tank, hook up to AC, submerge tank into dry ice and alcohol bath.

  • do i even need to comment on the fact that you just grabbed the dry ice and didn't even mention using gloves?

  • @baseballboy0101 Go see my other vid: "Dry ice, is it LETHALLY DANGEROUS?

  • @wbeaty i wasn't trying to be mean i was making a joke lol i was just shocked that you had the balls to just grab it

  • @baseballboy0101 go see my other vid. I chew up hunks of dry ice. Spit out fog jets.

  • @wbeaty What happens if a 12 year old trys this and if I chew dry ice as u sed

  • @J3rKiNZaCk Instead go and learn to be a circuit Fire Eater and spit flames ...without getting killed.

  • @baseballboy0101 You're supposed to use gloves?

  • 3:27 Cryogenic Napalm!! Love it

  • I thought u weren't supposed to touch dry ice?

  • Chemicals are fun :D

  • listen 3:41 sounds erotic

  • u sound like kermit the frog

  • Its pitiful what a man will do when he's trying

    to stop masturbating, ain't it?

  • This guys got a DRY ICE FETISH.

  • Will items shatter easier if you leave them in the artificial Liquid nitrogen for longer?

  • that drink in the back is amazing its called cascade ice

  • This guy talks about safety and warns it's for professors and blah blah

but he doesn't have any gloves on. He sure didn't take his own advice about handling with care.

  • He has Cats.

    4:00

  • somehow need to get this into a misting system and freeze people in their tracks... I would be the most awesome super villain ever.

  • lol awesome

  • cool

  • cryogenic napalm....sounds like a good name for a metal band

  • You touched the dry ice directly? BLACK MAGIC.

  • im 13

  • if you do eat the cherry can it be bad because of the alchohal

  • @mannybhai1 What's alchohal?

  • @PACIFICFL0W No I'm going to 8th grade and I fucking like pandas. :|

  • @MrPanda7426 wow you're an idiot

  • @MyAccount217 How?!?!

  • this was on my recommended vids cause i watched "Elektro GTA" what does this have to do with that?

  • how dose this tempacher effect a electric motor like a pump i am being very safe here my idea well the vid response yes i am using it in A/C unit

  • @Mr3wheeledbike plastic pumps and plastic hoses become brittle. They may shatter. Also don't mess with LARGE amounts of dry ice. Large amounts of dry ice aren't safe ( because of suffocation danger.)

  • 5:04 - 5:05

    THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID.

  • hmmm cryogenic napalm aye? buys a super soaker!

  • dry ice is solid carbon dioxide....I'm a kid(11 yrs) and ive handled the real stuff before,so dry ice isn't a problem.

  • Liquid nitrogen is considerably colder than Dry ice so th results of this will be imperfect at best...Still, not bad for a home experiment

  • Im a kid!! :)

  • i love americans ahahah you guys are soo entertaining... doing the things others arnt silly enough to do lol

  • cryogenic napalm ? are you saying i could use this stuff to freeze ray people :)?

  • 1:08 Making poor's man Bong :D

  • i dont know what im doing but i think i shall try it anyway....... AHHH I WAS WRONG I WAS HORRIBABLY WRONG!

  • there is a copy of your video on metacafe
