John Martin once appeared as a contestant on "Who wants to be a millionaire?". He didn't make it past the "fastest finger first" round (ironic seeing as he's a rock drummer). The appearance went unannounced at the time. It's a crime no-one seemed to recognise him then or on Buzzcocks.
Everyone goes on about N.Y, Dolls and others heralding the punk movement, but for me the sound and attitude of Dr.feelgood were the true pioneers of fast aggresive rock, i remember watching them in 75 or 76 and being blown away by their amphetamine fast rock. vastly underated band.
Dr Feelgood were brilliant and talented entertainers - this show is just sad and retarded. Let's take the piss out of the old guy. Just remember, "As you are now so once was I, as I am now so shall you be."
I prefer Mark Lamarr. Simon isn't as funny and it seems as if Mark comes up with his own jokes whereas Simon just reads from auto-cue. I'd rather Mark was still presenting now to be honest. I don't watch the new ones.
erm... just so you know... i've seen this prod filmed & mark lamarr very much reads an auto-cue, they also dubbed on extra laughs to his jokes. not that he wasnt funny, just that the production people decided that the laughs ehnr it went out on air needed to be bigger. and thats a fact folks!!
