  • this was the best looking, best featured most affordable car ive found for my personal needs and i am so getting one :) love it....practical and affordable

  • I am the proud owner of a piece o' shit '98 Chevy Malibu

  • My only issue with the new malibu is the outward visibility from the side and rear is VERY limited, as well as with the recent impalas. I cant see out the back end of my either my sisters 'bu or my moms impala. The malibu I blame the thick c pillars and fast rear window. and the Impalas on the GINORMOUS full sized center headrest and fast rear window.

  • if there was any more bland styling than this, it would be any model lexus

  • The new Chevy SUCKS! I've seen so many Chevy cars on the road where they seem to absorb the impact on accidents, rather than do the opposite.

    BUY RETRO Chevys!!!

  • @MADDOG6400 Um... That is the point of all new cars.... To absorb said impacts during accidents. Should check out the Chevy Malibu vs Chevy Bel Air video to see why...

  • "tight for three and lacks a center armrest" ...you sure you aren't reviewing my ex gf? LOL

  • This is a fantastic car i would love to have one i had this as a rental car went over 500 miles one tank of gas. I love the smooth quiet ride and excellent 6 speed automatic. The controls are very intuitive, gauges are perfect and have great contrast. All these good attributes should carry over to the new redesign.

  • hey, thats my car! mine's mocha steel as well. very beautiful car. i LOVE it! and i think the front looks excellent.

  • ugly front

  • @marcvie9 i agree with you.

i just totaled my car so i rented this one.

i think the rear looks so cool but when you start eyeing up the car the front looks stupid as hell with that V grill.

  • @thelifeofsimon I agree. I think the solution is the chrome grill, some HID headlights and foglamps, just enough to distract ya from the front ends shape

  • I love the Malibu, IMO its the best in class.

  • Hey Dan, have you driven this one at night? I heard the rear view mirror catches the glare of car's headlights perfectly from my friend who had it as a rental car. I just want to know if you experienced this too? thanks

  • @CoolLarkin I don't recall a glare problem with the Malibu's rear view (it's been a while), but driver position might be a factor: height, distance from mirror, seat adjustment, stuff like that. I drive everything at night. Just got done shooting some sunset stuff, about to go for a spin in a few. :) Need to find a camera setup for shooting in low light ...

  • @mpgomatic hm ok well I guess i'll try to rent one and test it out myself. Him being 6'4 probably didn't help, haha. Thanks for the help Dan.

  • @mpgomatic I own one of these and the night shift lever works great it has a 6 axis rear view mirror and my 6'3" frame likes that I can adjust it high and out of the field of view in front of the car. great review I avg 29 mpg at 65 k

  • Can you please review a Malibu V6 before it's too late?! :)

  • these are really nice cars....GM is headed in the right direction finally....I will have to wait a few years and see what the long term reliability is like..I keep cars a long time...have been burned twice before by a Grand AM and Malibu...bought an 05 Accord new and have 100,000 trouble free miles on it...would love to buy a good old American brand again...but I'm "gun-shy" now...so I'll need more proof...this is definitely a nice car that I would buy too..thanks for the great reviews Dan!

  • The New 2010 Chevy Malibu is awesome!

  • i have 16 years old, and that car its my dream.... =]

  • @Eminesty

you have 16 years old? lmao

  • When it comes to the 4cyl, Malibu fails. 169hp? My mothers 2010 Fusion has 171hp and and the Accord and Camry have more with there 4cyl. The fusion has better styling. But I do like that the malibu has the double laminated side windows. The fusion has regular tempered glass, which allows more noise in. But the fusion has an acoustic windshield. So no win-win with either, lol

  • @giannial1985

    Fusion has 175hp, not 171 :)

Still, I don't think the malibu fails with just a deficit of 6 horsepower compared to the Fusion. You would hardly notice that while driving.

    Both are good cars.

  • @BKofficer23 You're right about the power. Just looked at Ford's website. The people on Wikipedia don't know anything, lol ;)

  • This car really stands out vs it's competitors

    Specially the V6 but

Does this car comes w a nav system as a option?

  • Pretty nice car, with pretty good fuel numbers. If only GM could make a good small car... (at least on this side of the atlantic, idk what europe's lineup is like...)

  • @SrpskaCCCC Thanks!

  • Hey Dan, so what did you think about this compared to the hybrid version.... they get similar numbers dont they. Also This car has no option for any sort of navigation system right? It seems like a good car, and interior quality and design seem to be pretty good, but do you get the feeling that this is lagging a bit behind when it comes to technology when compared to other makes on the market?

  • @flatblackstrat Malibu Hybrid = stop/start, for the most part. That technology should be available in most cars before long.

GM was focused on OnStar for too long. (I'd reckon that's what kept nav systems out of so many of their vehicles for so long.) While I've grown to appreciate OnStar, paying a subscription fee changes the value equation for a lot of folks.

The 2010 Malibu lacks a fancy nav/interface, but that can be considered a cost-savings, too.

  • Haha, Dan, I love what you did with your fingers when you said the cars name. :D Pretty quick for a little I-4. I really enjoy that interior, it seems gorgeous on here, can only imagine how it is to be there. Awesome review as usual, thanks Dan! :D

  • @MattHutzell Thanks, Matt ... I need to go back and watch that ... =)

  • Any chance on a Civic Si review?

  • @desimunda116 Probably not this calendar year, hopefully when the redesigns hit.

  • @mpgomatic did you guys already review an older model? like from 06 or 07

  • @desimunda116 We reviewed the Civic Hybrid, but not the Si.

  • I have an Aura with the same engine and I love it. I'll probably look at the Malibu once my lease is up. They are great cars!

  • love this car, loved your review. Freind of mine at work just bought herself one! Nice driving four popper.

  • @bajabusta Thanks, Baja!

  • beautiful car! I would love a manual transmission version

  • @racewithferrari i love the malibu its great looking and competes with camery and accord

  • @eskimochild87 HAhahah, *Camry, and if it competes with the Camry and Accord, two companies that are known for dependability and quality, then why is GM still rated so low, especially from Consumer Reports. Don't get me wrong they are getting better they don't have a choice, GM needed to get ahead of Toyota, then that's where the accelerator conspiracy comes in. But even then the part was built in the US. UAW, does not take pride in their work like the Japanese do.

  • @racewithferrari Hahaha, their were only 2 real car makers back then Ford and Benz and neither one ever built anything that looked like this. I bet you bought an old Fiero and thought it was a Ferrari and that's what you race with.

  • @flatblackstrat I meant that the design was obsolete for todays standard. Even old gen Altima/Accord looks better than this.

  • @racewithferrari Is it just me, or does it look like a fluently remixed HHR? What is Chevy's problem? Agreed.

  • @racewithferrari I meant that for the interior, sorry if that confused anyone what I just said.

  • I am looking foward to the 2012 Malibu. Great review as always!

  • @steve9509 Thanks, Steve!

  • Great review, and great numbers for a 2.4 L ! Can't wait to see the outcome of the 1.4 liter turbocharged engine from the Cruze this Fall.

  • @DominicGuitarist Thanks, Dominic! There's a Cruze press drive going on right now, but I didn't get an invite. :(
