When I produced this video almost three years ago in HD the average person including myself didn't have access to video editing equipment that could truly handle HD footage. Back then I couldn't even upload this video in HD. The processor on the PC that this video was edited on couldn't quite handle the audio/video like so many at the time and as a result it got slowed down and sounded a little funny. Video editing and computers have come a long way in the last 2-3 years.
Just a slip bobber and letting the minnow swim around. I usually hook the minnows in the tail because they stay alive longer. I Set the bobber about 3 feet.
@Fishnwithjoe nice fishing tackle, but when i panfish, i use an ultra-light setup and 2lb test line, the fish feel like muskies when hooked, but that's just me, thanks for listening

If you get around to butler county, you could try houston woods (akton lake) I heard that has good crappie fishing, but I dont have a boat, so no go for me.

Hello, I just wanna say I love your videos. I've only caught a few crappie when I was fishin with my dad. We were at one of the lakes around here and I hooked 2 back to back crappie that were around 14-16 inches, but they seemed to have quite a bit more meat on them than them crappie you caught. But given that was my only day crappie fishin I'm not sure what the crappie standard is. Cheers ^_^

there is this lake in san rafael,CA it's windy but can catch crappis on soft plastic jigs,i use a double rig so i can catch doubles.after u drop it in not even 5 seconds they eat!(no bullshit the water level went down alot)

They arent small for a public water lake in Ohio. Those are excellent fish. Throw away the fishing you do in other places because its not aplicable size wise in Ohio.
You need to come here on public water in the state of Ohio outside of Lake Erie and catch those crappie. Thats the point of the show. Go to a place that isnt known for big fish and catch big fish.
The biggest crappie was over 13 inches. That is a big Crappie on Hoover Reservoir in Ohio. If I was in Wisconsin the show wouldnt have the same appeal to Central Ohio anglers
I catch pretty decent fish in the toughest fishing conditions and thats the appeal of my show. If I caught 15in Crappie all day on a lake like Reelfoot TN I'd only prove one thing. If I only had $15-30 to spend, what lures or soft baits would you guys suggest for purchase? I'm going for mostly bass and panfish. Anything that can catch multiple species actually. Any help?
get one of the starter panfish kits they sell for like $12 at your local sporting store, and a favorite bass lure of mine is a split tail beetle w/ jighead on one of those little wire rigs with the spinner.
That's why the comment section is so great. I was using a crappie minnow on 4lb line rigged under a small sliding bobber about 3 feet deep. I use small rubbercore sinkers to keep the line from getting damaged and thin wire hooks to keep the minnows alive longer.

It's important to be thankful for every fish you catch. The more thankful you are the more fish you'll catch in the future and the bigger they will be.
The Penfishingrod is a very good rod and reel choice to have in a tight pinch. It's so small it can be carried in your pocket when collapsed. I feel an angler has to be ready at anytime however, trying to convince some anglers of this is just water und3rth3bridg3.

my dad caught a crappie that was .2 oz off the NJ state record out of mercer county lake a few years ago. the lake was taken over by rich princeton boaters now.
That's the beauty of fishing and mother nature philamato. Except for annual stockings trout can barely survive in Ohio. Mother nature decides on just the right fish for just the right habitat. If I were near your town I bet I'd be fishing for trout too but, I bet if you were from my town you might like crappie fishing a whole lot more. Winkiedoodles, I am happy you noticed. All of my new shows are filmed and edited in HD with a Pro Model Sony camera. I use a high quality wireless Sennhieser microphone. Everything is broadcast television ready and I've been in negotions to take this show to T.V. I however believe online video is the future and am a big fan of Youtube. If they want me on tv they'll have to make it worth my while

Hello, I just wanna say I love your videos. I've only caught a few crappie when I was fishin with my dad. We were at one of the lakes around here and I hooked 2 back to back crappie that were around 14-16 inches, but they seemed to have quite a bit more meat on them than them crappie you caught. But given that was my only day crappie fishin I'm not sure what the crappie standard is. Cheers ^_^

for me i just don't see the sport in crappie,
i love trout fishing,

thanks .i checked out the venom lures, does the twitch worm look line a cilindrecal worm or is it more like a baitfish shaped thing. im not sure and dont want to get the wrong thing.

pghHunter, it's the baitfish shaped one. If in doubt call the toll free number listed on the site and ask for Dave. Tell him that Joe Jordan sent you and that you'd like to order some of the extra salt Black/Neon "Ratworms". He keeps the good ones for himself but, if you tell him you know me he'll send you the special ones.

Joe, that was a very good crappie video...also, I clicked on the "hi quality" view and it was very awesome. Are you using pro software/hardware or something novices can buy for your vids? Winkiedoodles

Winkiedoodles, I am happy you noticed. All of my new shows are filmed and edited in HD with a Pro Model Sony camera. I use a high quality wireless Sennhieser microphone. Everything is broadcast television ready and I've been in negotions to take this show to T.V. I however believe online video is the future and am a big fan of Youtube. If they want me on tv they'll have to make it worth my while
