  • Aw man, I used to go fishing at Hoover with my dad back in the 80's. We'd go there and Alum Creek -I was still in elementary school when we moved. I miss Columbus.

  • @hawaiiankillahulua

When I produced this video almost three years ago in HD the average person including myself didn't have access to video editing equipment that could truly handle HD footage. Back then I couldn't even upload this video in HD. The processor on the PC that this video was edited on couldn't quite handle the audio/video like so many at the time and as a result it got slowed down and sounded a little funny. Video editing and computers have come a long way in the last 2-3 years.

  • @Fishnwithjoe damn man sorry bout that..here I am talking shit about somthing I know nothing about..sorry once again.

  • hey wat kinda rig are u using? is it a slip bobber rig with a jig and minnow beneath? oh and are u jiggin it in? or lettin the minnow swim around?

  • @HATINTHEKAT

Just a slip bobber and letting the minnow swim around. I usually hook the minnows in the tail because they stay alive longer. I Set the bobber about 3 feet.

    Thanks for watching the show.

  • do u go to ladue resovoir in geauga county it is the best But Not Now Up In Clevland It's Bad Snow!!!!

  • LOL come down south we'll show you some big crappie

  • Good fishing... Hoover Dam?

  • nice numbers, but i can't get too jacked up over their size, joe, nice try, though, merry xmas

  • @RonyMexico

This isn't Mexico Rony. Those are bragging size crappie here in Ohio.

    Merry Christmas

  • @Fishnwithjoe then feed em more minnows, peace

  • @RonyMexico

    Peace Rony.

    Thanks for watching the show

  • @Fishnwithjoe nice fishing tackle, but when i panfish, i use an ultra-light setup and 2lb test line, the fish feel like muskies when hooked, but that's just me, thanks for listening

  • man how do you become a pro fisher

  • nice vids can anyone watch my channel too?

  • how would one acquire this pen rod extreme

  • how would one acquire this pin rod extreme??

  • i fish hoover all the time with no luck. what kind of bait do you suggest?

  • Man, I love me some Crappie !

  • Ya, Joe is right. Crappies above 12inches anywhere in my opinion is a nice crappie.

  • can they be eaten raw ?? can any fish be safe to eat ?

  • @altern8tivechic18

    Jewish, White, Korean, Japanese, Black.

We have all kinds of models. We are always looking to add more models. I think it would be really cool to have a model do the show in Spanish. Working on that right now. :-)

    Thanks for watching the show.

  • If you get around to butler county, you could try houston woods (akton lake) I heard that has good crappie fishing, but I dont have a boat, so no go for me.

  • @zilla005

I've fished it before. It's an excellent lake. It stays a little busy so I have to catch it on just the right day to do a show there. Perhaps one day soon.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • @Fishnwithjoe

Ah in that case gimme a yell! I'd be more than happy to tag along! ;)

  • Hello, I just wanna say I love your videos. I've only caught a few crappie when I was fishin with my dad. We were at one of the lakes around here and I hooked 2 back to back crappie that were around 14-16 inches, but they seemed to have quite a bit more meat on them than them crappie you caught. But given that was my only day crappie fishin I'm not sure what the crappie standard is. Cheers ^_^

  • nice where im from my usual crappie size is about 12-14 inches my smallest was about 2 inches (on a nymph fly)

  • good job

  • hey joe,

great job! some nice slabs there! i was just wondering hoe far i should keep the float from the hook.

it would be great if you could get back to me!

    thanks, 5 star!

    mike

  • those are border-line keepers.. nothing close to "monster"

  • Maybe where youre from but, in Central Ohio 13 inch crappies get you a fish Ohio award from the State of Ohio.

  • @mooncricket2333326, no offense man but i am from up north and those are decent crappie. Its hard to find decent crappies anymore, especially with all the fishing pressure on crappies and walleyes where i am from. Good job Joe, thanks for the vid.

  • des taylor pocket rocket now on you tube uk

  • this type of rod and reel is now available through grandeslam uk!!!you can see the vids on you tube under des taylor pocket rocket

  • Sounds cool, but if it's not the New 2010 - 63" Pen Rod Goliath, it's just a regular Pen Fishing Rod.

Stop spamming all Pen Rod videos..

  • there is this lake in san rafael,CA it's windy but can catch crappis on soft plastic jigs,i use a double rig so i can catch doubles.after u drop it in not even 5 seconds they eat!(no bullshit the water level went down alot)

  • hey joe, i wanna buy this set up but i've always been skeptical about rods that retract and extend. how well would you rate the strength and durability of this rod?

also, have you by any chance had an opportunity to test out their mini bait caster reel?

  • why do they hurt? your holding it wrong or something?

  • HEY! go to lake livingston in texas.....i use my catfish rod to catch crappie you can't fit into a 5 gallon bucket!!NO SHIT!!!!!!

  • You can use little spinner baits or earthworms with a bobber

  • i've never caught crappie before even though i know they have them in the river that i fish but i don't know how to get them any tips?

  • WTF. Dude is setting the hook like he's got a 5lb. bass.

  • he caught the damn fish didnt he?

  • i live in nj and i dot a lake full of 20 inchers no joke!!!

  • New Jersey has got fishing like that. No way. If it does then I want to go. Thanks for watching the show.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • ya you can wip out 5lb largemouth bass in a pond !!!!

  • here in wisconsin theres quite a few lakes we fish tht a 13 incher is average.. i have a friend tht caught a dozen over 16 inches in one day... all on PUBLIC lakes

  • i live in Ohio and i can go any time of the year and catch crappie way bigger then that... no offense....

  • Cool,

Tell us where the spot is. I'd love to go.

    FishnwithJoe

  • its at clearfork ohio, near mansfield.....back at the handi cap dock, on the left is a big cove....

  • I've been wanting to do a show at that lake. I never knew it produced crappie like that. How long are the crappies that you catch and thanks for the info.

    FishnwithJoe

  • average from 12 inches to 19......

  • nice crappie i wish i could go to ohio and catch them byut sadly im an 11 year old boy that lives in a neighborhood and can only catch bluegills sunfish and bass. P.S. i love ur show! keep it up! (: (:

  • Yea those crappie are small...But dont matter good video joe

  • They arent small for a public water lake in Ohio. Those are excellent fish. Throw away the fishing you do in other places because its not aplicable size wise in Ohio.

  • Oh i get it....Sorry

  • wat u using joe?

  • thanks joe the next time i go to united states i am gowing to go crappie fishing and catch a big one

  • Are you serious??, lol

BIG?, HUGE?,,,,,, dude, you catching bait right there, lmao

Come here and i'll take you fishing, if its not 13"-16" its not a big crappie.

  • No, No,No.

You need to come here on public water in the state of Ohio outside of Lake Erie and catch those crappie. Thats the point of the show. Go to a place that isnt known for big fish and catch big fish.

  • what bait were u using

  • everyone is saying how small those crappies are, but I think they are pretty respectable. Kind of thin but not bad. Good vid and props to you.

Although I have to agree with the comment about big Wisconsin crappie ;)

  • Thanks for watching the show

    6billionANDone

  • wow i caught a 16 inch crappie today

  • dude that pole is so sick im gatting one soon i will show the bass whos boss in lake toho

  • we catch way bigger crappie all the time out our pond lol biggest has been 16 inch

  • No private ponds in this video and I'm in Ohio outside of Lake Erie. No easy fishing here. We work hard for every fish we catch.

    FishnwithJoe

  • them crappi look like what we use for bait in south carolina...lol

  • the biggest crappie was like 10 inches! come to wisconsin and you will easily catch hundreds of them if you find the right spots.

  • The biggest crappie was over 13 inches. That is a big Crappie on Hoover Reservoir in Ohio. If I was in Wisconsin the show wouldnt have the same appeal to Central Ohio anglers

  • Couldn't agree more with you I am from Iowa we catch like 15-16 everytime!

  • Thanks dpikers37.

I catch pretty decent fish in the toughest fishing conditions and thats the appeal of my show. If I caught 15in Crappie all day on a lake like Reelfoot TN I'd only prove one thing. That would be that I was just an average fisherman in a great lake. Many people overlook that completely. Thanks for seeing and understanding and watching the show. I apppreciate it.

  • small white grub on a small jighead. Will catch all species. Its what i call the ultimate survival bait.

  • If I only had $15-30 to spend, what lures or soft baits would you guys suggest for purchase? I'm going for mostly bass and panfish. Anything that can catch multiple species actually. Any help?

  • get one of the starter panfish kits they sell for like $12 at your local sporting store, and a favorite bass lure of mine is a split tail beetle w/ jighead on one of those little wire rigs with the spinner.

  • ive always loved your release method.

    BIG FAN!

  • Thanks IBG67

  • are you using an ultra light rod ?

  • today is the anniversery of this vid congratz

  • lols.....it's not about the rod that's making it bite...it's the bait.....

  • True, True

The bait is the most important thing besides putting the bait in the right spot of course. The rod just helps you get the fish in once you hook him.

    Thanks for watching.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • hahahha...yep.....that's true.....welp thx for the good vid......good luck

  • Nice video. Would be better if you took a minute to show what bait you're using and how you have it rigged.

  • jobu88,

That's why the comment section is so great. I was using a crappie minnow on 4lb line rigged under a small sliding bobber about 3 feet deep. I use small rubbercore sinkers to keep the line from getting damaged and thin wire hooks to keep the minnows alive longer.

Thanks for watching the show and great observation.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • Awesome! Thanks partner.

  • LOVED IT JOE!!! 5 *s

  • where can i get cheep pen fishing rods

  • ebay

  • good job joe

  • im soo mad right now, i caught what i thought was a bass, but was actually a 3 pound crappie, but though it was just a medium sized bass, i could have had fish ohio award easily = [

  • nice vid

  • Thanks

  • whats the differene between a pen rod extreme and a pen rod?

  • the extreme is longer

  • the extreme is longer and more built up to stand bigger fish

  • is it like just for panfish or can u catch bass with it to ur like a legend for fising in ohio how do u catch that big of fish?

  • Thanks Codispoti222.

It's important to be thankful for every fish you catch. The more thankful you are the more fish you'll catch in the future and the bigger they will be.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • =( no lol il stick to my guide series and ugly stick

  • The Penfishingrod is a very good rod and reel choice to have in a tight pinch. It's so small it can be carried in your pocket when collapsed. I feel an angler has to be ready at anytime however, trying to convince some anglers of this is just water und3rth3bridg3.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • Nice use of the name:]

  • i have both gnder mt guide series and shakespeare ugly stik

  • telescopic? sure hope that thing has ceramic guides. say its' so, joe.. i got an ulralight tele a few yrs back and the thing is great except it has metal guides on it. i'd use it all the time, but i'm afraid i'll wear a groove in the guides and replacing them really doesn't look too easy.

  • Sure does, just check out the site.

  • How is it going Joe? I work with a major company that have gotten into this niche market of fishing and hunting and would like to speak to you. I think that this deal could be extremely profitable for you and anyone that loves to fish and or hunt or do these Youtube videos. Call Rob at 314-757-4063 If I'm not available leave your number and I'll get back with you.

  • my dad caught a crappie that was .2 oz off the NJ state record out of mercer county lake a few years ago. the lake was taken over by rich princeton boaters now.

  • Just think of every fish as a blessing and when you do you'll find them on the end of the line twice as often. Thanks for watching

  • dude, i wish i had ur luck with fishing.

  • I dont Get it what is a Pen rod is it like made for pan fishing?

  • Yes its a telescopic fishing pole that's great for panfish and crappie. Just go to the site and check it out for yourself.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • so its like an ultralight rod?

  • i went to kiser lake and was catchin nice white and black crappie on an orange and white grub like 10-12 inch long ones

  • Kiser Lake is an excellent place to fish. The no motor rule limits pressure and keeps the fishing good. Thanks for watching johnrocks937

  • for me i just don't see the sport in crappie,

    i love trout fishing,

but crappie around me are usually tiny,

and even if one is 9" thats still a really small fish

compared to the trout around here.

  • That's the beauty of fishing and mother nature philamato. Except for annual stockings trout can barely survive in Ohio. Mother nature decides on just the right fish for just the right habitat. If I were near your town I bet I'd be fishing for trout too but, I bet if you were from my town you might like crappie fishing a whole lot more. The most important thing is that we both seem to agree that the sport of fishing is really fun. Thanks for watching.

  • nah they are fun i like bass trout and well every fish

  • nice crapps man

  • Thanks for watching bassfishinfever. If you can make it to Hoover Reservoir try the top end of the lake for the big ones in the spring.

  • That's one AWESOME video Joe!!

The people here in NY think you're a professional TV personality.

    Good Job!!

    M.D.,Penfishingrods,com

  • Thanks for the compliments but, I have to admit my job was so easy because the rod and reel were so good.

    Joe

  • we get 16" crappie all day

  • William is that an invite to go Crappie fishing with you?

  • I'm jealous! I'm still waiting on my crappie spots to turn on. :(

  • They will turn on Max. It's just a matter of time. Thanks for watching and untill they turn on check out the fishing reports on my new site.

  • I got one of those rods for Xmas. I guess I will have to give it a try. Nice Crappie action. I hope you get your show on TV. I'll be watchin!

  • I use 4lb or 6lb line on mine. Thanks for watching and being a fan Horseshoebender.

  • Nice crappies Joe, I'm going to have to get one of those penfish rods. Thanks for the great videos, very extreme brother. You gotta love it

    Obedie Ripp'n Lipps...

  • Thanks Obedie, Gotta love crappie fishing when they are biting in the Spring. I tried that little trick I seen you use in your video and twitched the line. It worked really good.

  • nice crappies. the week before last i got my first bass of the season off the 4" black worm like you reccomended, thanks

  • The 4 inch black Venom twitch worm is one of the most consistent bass baits in the State of Ohio. I'm confident enough in it that I'll go down the same bank as another boat and fish right behind them and am sure that I can catch fish they missed. I dont even leave home without them anymore. When you contact Venom ask for Dave personally and tell him that I sent you. Say you want the special batch that he keeps in back. The black neon with extra salt. Thanks for watching. Congrats on the bass

  • thanks .i checked out the venom lures, does the twitch worm look line a cilindrecal worm or is it more like a baitfish shaped thing. im not sure and dont want to get the wrong thing.

  • pghHunter, it's the baitfish shaped one. If in doubt call the toll free number listed on the site and ask for Dave. Tell him that Joe Jordan sent you and that you'd like to order some of the extra salt Black/Neon "Ratworms". He keeps the good ones for himself but, if you tell him you know me he'll send you the special ones.

    Joe

  • ok, thanks alot

  • Joe, that was a very good crappie video...also, I clicked on the "hi quality" view and it was very awesome. Are you using pro software/hardware or something novices can buy for your vids? Winkiedoodles

  • Winkiedoodles, I am happy you noticed. All of my new shows are filmed and edited in HD with a Pro Model Sony camera. I use a high quality wireless Sennhieser microphone. Everything is broadcast television ready and I've been in negotions to take this show to T.V. I however believe online video is the future and am a big fan of Youtube. If they want me on tv they'll have to make it worth my while

  • nice job on the crappie-gave that little rod a workout

  • The Penrod handled those big crappie like they were minnows.

    Thanks for watching ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE.

  • nice video joe! cant figure out why you aint cleanin those crappie

  • I put them back so they would be there when youre ready to catch them. Thanks for watching.

  • nice job Joe!

Pen rod is a nice lil combo...

  • Thanks Louisvillecpl24. The Penfishingrod did a number on those big crappie.

  • "VIDEOS BY PAUL" my name is Paul lol

  • I gotcha Paul

  • Nice Crappies and how you like the rod/reels The new rear drag is nice i got one to.

Congratulations on what we been thalking about joe. More to come to you later on.

  • Thanks Dan. Then Penrod is very nice. The rear drag model is easy to adjust.

Congratulations on your big moves with Country Fried Videos. I know there are more big things coming your way soon.
