  • There is way too much dispute about genre.

  • such a powerful song, hes such a great writer

  • @pchan26 Beautiful! ;-)

  • I've always hear it as synth-pop as well.

  • Its not ANYTHING-Pop. *shudder* It's Real Alternative.

& not Aggrotech. Psyclon Nine is AggroTech.

Most common reference to this type of music is Industrial, and Harsh EBM

Gothic and Industrial are two very closely related groups. Assemblage23 is Industrial. VNV Nation is tied to Industrial as well.

For more insight, try to get your hands on RealIndustrialRadio, located in Cali, streamed on the net. Google it.

Anyways, Good song. Sorry to bore those of you who actually READ this shit.

  • @BIGLOADSOHELLFIRE Thanks for the comment! Love Assemblage! ;-)

  • @BIGLOADSOHELLFIRE i've always figured bands like VnV and A23 to be more of the EBM genre than industrial.

  • this is probably my favorite a23 song. tom is the best at writing some of the most beautiful and most haunting lyrics combining them with the right melody. a23 is one of the best ebm bands out there.

  • 1:50 and 3:10...Pure fucking amazing...Nothing less than pure fucking amazing...

  • @veridical1 I don't think I understand anything after "...result is scary..."

Are you meaning the general population has bad taste? Or what?

  • @InstinctEBM

    You nailed it!

  • @InstinctEBM WEll Said! ;-)

  • powerful song

  • Dont get about Velvet acid christ, They are great to! lol im going to see A23 in 2 weeks =) Ohklahoma

  • @Ariecael

I assume you saw them at The Marque when they played this Wednesday? Hope you managed to catch the VNV show on Monday too. It's just a damned shamed that Tom was struggling with his voice so much last night. Still an awesome show though.

  • @Ariecael

Very true. But I don't know that I'd compare VAC and A23. Both are awesome, but the music of A23 can make you feel emotions all along the spectrum. Everything from happy to sad to anything inbetween. VAC, otoh, only makes you angry or sad. Not what you want to listen to if you're already in a bad head space. Dang.... now I gotta go find my Fun with Knives CD. :)

  • @absolut3z3ro

Hmm...I can see your point. Yes I was at the show, I was quite happy with how many songs they played and at how content he was with his fans. Even though it was a smaller show he totally touched with his fanbase, I couldn't help but dance my heart out the entire show ^^ Gots that signed CD unreleased V2

  • @Ariecael

You're so lucky. I don't know why, but I didn't think they'd be signing things after the show, so I ended up walking back to Gypsy as soon as the show ended. Stupid me.

  • @absolut3z3ro

Damn, that sucks man. Yea they chilled out for like an hour at least. Wanted to ask so many more questions than I did, I just didn't want to crowd his space too much and take up the time of other people. I wanted to ask how his career started and how the road has been thus far. He's very awesome.

  • @jbr7rr that is really funny; they do sound like VNV Nation. Both have deep meanings in their songs and blend their music; not a task easily accomplished. I can add another great band to my list! :)

  • gpunktn is a lil jerk who think music and life is about competition, therefore he need to proove to himself he is more cool than other who are pure enough to say they just discovered something nice such as A23...Dude, that aint a freaking warcraft 3 rooster, its life, get over it you douche...to jbr, keep looking , almost all A23 is brilliant, but there is a lot more out there, too...

  • No music in the world can stir my thoughts and moods half as good as Tom's.

  • Another great song by A23. Reminds me of when I was 10, 17, and 24, all 3 ages so far made me feel old, my next target is 30. I don't know why but turning these ages makes me feel out of date.

  • For me, it was 6 (lol), 12, 17, and now 20. I've only started appreciating all the small things in life that I took for granted now. This song gets better everytime I hear it, non-surprisingly.

  • his words are like daggers opening up parts of your mind u never wish to relive but now have to...

  • yeah i love this guys music.. its amazing, deep, catchy, and most of all makes you reflect on your life to the point where your like shards of who you once were.. hahaha

    yeah.

  • I alredy feel old

  • What an amazing song. I've don't know if I've every heard another artist that can make a sad song so beautiful. My respect for Tom Shear just keeps growing.

  • some of VNV nations songs are also sad and beautyfull =)

i just discovered Assemblage 23 today (head of it before never listened to it) and i have to say i really like it

  • @jbr7rr agreed. vnv nation and a23 have some of the best lyrics in music.

  • So beautiful, I love A23

  • Assemblage 23 is amazing.

  • noob

  • No doubt about it, Tom is amazing! Even on his website, he offers the samples + vocal lines for a few of his songs, and then challenges the fans to create remixes!

  • it says 'I'm alone' wich makes it beautiful.

  • I love this man. He always makes me think. I swear he is one of the smartest musicians alive.

  • Horizon*

  • gosh this guy is a lyrical genious....

    his songs make me cry

so damn depressing yet it makes me feel so much closer to the importance of every single moment i exsist.

amazing artist. : ) Horizen is one of my favorites by him.

  • Tom Shear is a lyrical genius. This is just one of his many, many songs that just reach into the soul and twist it around. Very few artists can create the emotional intensity that he can with his music...

  • i discover this artist today ... it's a good surprise ... it's good !

it's sound like depeche mode , the voice , the music .which nationality are they ?

  • American.

  • Sencillamente hermosa y reflexiva canción, me hace pensar como sienten los abuelos a una cierta edad y lo que nos pasara a nosotros en algunos años.

  • Does anyone have his song "Never forgive, never forget" ? I like it a lot, because it brings up memories..

  • great song !!! many thanks :)

  • Funker Vogt Remix actually moved me to tears -- had a profound effect on me, emotionally?

  • Great band. Greater song. This one breaks my heart every time since my dad died this month - miss you :*(

  • Ich liebe dieses Lied. So viele Emotionen und Erinnerungen kommen da hoch. Da kommen mir die Tränen. Ganz langsam mit diesem Lied in den Sonnenuntergang zum Meer fahren.. das ist Gefühl pur!

  • one of the many songs that makes me cry

  • I went to see their show 3 years ago, they weren't that good then. Hopefully they have gotten better live.

  • omfg the lyrics are so deep and sad...why can't today's music have this much depth?!

Tool and Assemblage 23 and porcupine tree, Rush awsome bands - music that enriches lives

  • incredibly beautiful song, can't fucking wait for what tom shear has in store for us...he's only getting better

  • AYE STOP REMOVING FOR TERM USE VIOLATION ,... i learn about the existance of this band on this site ....

  • excellent! very beautiful lyrics...

  • by far the best song. My favorite of Assebmlage 23... keep going this way. thanks

  • I wish I could hear this sort of thing in the clubs round here, but it hasn't really caught on in my area =/

Although saying that, if I did hear it I'd probably be too awe struck to dance, I love assemblage 23! Can't get enough!

  • Perfect song.

  • i love this song.

  • I wonder where is that Assemblage23's song Never forgive ?? I can't find it here anymore !!

  • I don't think they call it futurepop anymore. I honestly hate that name.

  • @devilsweat138 I call it Aggrotech or Synthpop now...sometimes I feel the need to call it Aggro-Synthpop xD

  • @devilsweat138 they still call it futurepop and i dont like the name either. i call it synthpop or ebm.

  • @devilsweat138 I just call it GOOD

  • Tom Shear is a God!!

  • Wow... just wow. I've found a new favorite band.

  • Thw song and the lyrics are just beautiful.

I wish he would come to Rome... :(

  • Einfach nur genial! Danke!

  • Blacksun festival march 14th-16th!

    New haven,CT

    headlining bands

    Seabound and ASSEMBLAGE 23!

I would prefer to see VNV NATION, but these guys are second, if not as good.

  • A23 = Amazing. Once you see him in concert, the CD just isn't the best, you just want to see him live again. Awesome song.

  • hmmm these guys sound like a bit of a mix of VNV and for some odd reason, APC...I quite like em though!

  • it's only one guy, tom shear. and he's been around a bit longer than vnv nation so i think it's the other way around :P

  • APC? A Perfect Circle? :S Yeah, I agree, that's quite odd!

  • this song was one of my faves off that album...its so beautiful...very touching

  • Wow...5/5

  • Very good. I am always glad to see when there are new videos for A23.

  • Pretty good song, but it's not Industrial.

  • and?

  • Nor is it meant to be industrial. Bands like VNV Nation are calling this futurepop now.

  • this band pretty much similar to vnv nation

  • ;_; Assemblage 23 owns everything.

  • Awsome!

  • VnV And Assemblage Have Some Of The Best Lyrics In Industrial. Gotta Give It Up.

  • I have to agree with all of you. :P

  • @ScreamingWhisper

    except the 3 dislikers, right?

  • Oh Em Gee! Meta leaves me in awe! ^.^ The lyrics are so touching. ::insert big smiley here::

  • assenblage 23, EBM/Industrial perfection,

  • Fukking Uber!

Assemblage 23, Dark Industrial, nothing less than amazing.
