@phillip8042 I've never had a problem with bad ram before but you're right it wouldn't be a good idea to try to use it..in my case it's not possible to use it anyway because the computer won't start up at all if the bad stick is in it.

Don't buy Compaq, it's bad trust me. And get more than a 1gb of RAM. Get like 4

@arcanemiste13 I haven't had much trouble with mine but if i hadn't gotten this one for free I would have definitely gone for something a bit better..and I agree 100% the more ram the better.:)

@70vidmaster Thanks for the positive comment!! it's definitely real...I couldn't use my computer for 2 days because of this bad stick of ram..so i thought it was worth sharing..but i guess some people aren't interested in useful information..lol
