  • Summer holiday romances...painful at the time, but now I know they were all magic. Yay Bognor!!!! Allan is steaming in this...sssteaming!!

  • Tony's tenor vocals are amazing!!! And terry and tony well what else! Love the song, thanks for the post!! : )

  • They really embraced the decades they performed in.Like REALLY embraced the decade they performed in.

  • Total shit

  • @MrMorpol I agree, it IS that good! But I keep my poopies inside me, even then. I suggest you look into Depends Undergarments, my friend. Check Wal-greens. Peace!

  • @ComradeCrusty Haha, very funny!

  • @MrMorpol True ` you are `

  • Finde ich super!

  • Love it.

  • what a fabulous song, great music, great era, great time love it

  • Did you know this song was written by mr. B.Springsteen?? Awsome!

  • they were hippies right?

  • Great song ! amazing harmony! but what is that corny out of tune key board doing in this song ???????

  • Great song....i can imagine Phil Lynott singing this

  • I 'm in heaven-- lots of closeups of Terry looking and sounding gorgeous next to Allan. I agree with those of you that think Terry added more to the Hollies than Graham. Also, did you catch Tony at 2:05 saying something to Terry that makes him smile? I love candid moments like that. The Hollies usually looked like they enjoyed performing together.and that's another reason I LOVE them.

  • so weird to hear these guys doing The Boss's song! Nice but I prefer Springsteen singing it

  • OK I take it back I like Allan's clothes @ 3:46 I think he is about to loose them :) Whew were is that cold shower !

  • What happened to Graham Nash during this time?

  • @73849309378 the hollies had many even bigger hits after Nash left in 1968 Nash was with crosby stills, but did come back for a few months in 1983, and made a cover version of, stop in the name of love,

  • OK Allan...I give in.

  • Clarkes vocals are certainly live and Bernie Calvert never got the recognition he deserved for his brilliant bass playing.

  • You can see where Smokie got their influences!?

  • wunderschön :-))))

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't Bruce Springsteen write this song ?

  • What a great cover man!

  • dude he is s a gay...?????

  • @smash3desire Totally straight.....totally.

  • That's lip sync only on rare ocassions like American Bandstand, Where the Action Is and such TV shows. Mostly they wanted to "perform in the pure"!! Bands kicked ass back then

  • I love this song and Peter Howarth does a good version accoustically! :o))

  • Why do I hate Allan's close here ! :)

  • The Hollies made GREAT music in the studio, but otherwise they were fake. They practiced pertending to play live as much as they practiced performing.

  • @ApollonianKing Your 'facts' are off a bit, King, in my opinion. Have you ever heard the Hollies perform 'live'? I have a couple of times. They were one of the best 'live' bands I have heard - and there weren't many that played as well live as in the studio, including the Beatles and Rolling Stones/Uglies - and most others.

  • @ApollonianKing You forget that all these bands from the sixties were originally live bands. It took many of them years on the circuit before they got a recording deal. Not like most of todays bands and singers.

  • @ApollonianKing Where do you get this stuff? The Hollies were mainly live. little lip sync, maybe. Graham Nash, Allan Clarke a couple of the greastest rockers to ever live and perform. Go get your facts before saying this stuff. A fake group making the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I don't think so... you are thinking of the Archies:" Sugar, Sugar"... ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

  • Super Musik !!!

  • lanklylad50 it was Bobby Elliott who replaced Don Rathbone on drums and Eric Haydock was replaced by Burnie Calvert on bass in the early years,But the Hollies line up has changed a lot since then but no worries there still fab,,,Tezza the Manch..

  • This is an awe-inspiringly good performance! They're incredibly tight here. It's easy to see why their career continued on so long in Europe. It's a shame the folks in my country (the States) didn't want to know.

  • Thank you Hollies, Still everyday i love your music and your songs.

  • Einfach nur schön.....Ein Traum, das Lied und Sie....

  • Comment removed

  • well this was the music when we are young . and that fashion wat they wear was nice for that time .we called here soulpantalons .

  • I've come over all funny..... ;o)

  • LOOK! A PIANO!!!

  • Being a Manch Ive seen these guys from day one, This song" Sandy" is truely stunning, Thank you for posting it, Tezza the Manch...........

  • @123456734459 Ah but did you know that Graham Nash worked in the Post Office on Regent Street just near Cross Lane....or was it Graham Hicks....I forget.....and that Eric (whats iz name) the original Drummer was dumped cos he didn't want to tour while his Missus was pregnant?

Us Mancs need to stick together.....I saw them in Toronto in 1975 where they sang this one (amongst many other great songs of theirs) and I remember walking home on cloud 9 because I was so proud being a Manc.

  • @celsizinho Obrigada Menino do Sul!!

    Sucessos e bjus,

    Maga-Lee :-))

  • I love 'The Boss' but his version doesn't go close to this.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • I have no words to decribe the actual beauty they do tho this song. It's complete and beyond measure of description to me.

  • I have to go for a cold shower every time I watch this!!!!!

  • @Poopaloo55

Oh! You, and these four fingers positive are Responsible for the lack of water on the planet!...

  • @veraluciasc Hahaha!!! Maybe...I'll just have to stay hot from now on.

  • Cool

  • Love this song !!!

  • 2:05 *sigh*

  • @lucyndskywdmnds

    YES! Twice.

  • Another Hollies tune that really brings back all those good memories of my youth...damn i'm sounding old, but thats life.. I remember Sandy D.

    from S.H. PA

  • Oh my, I think I just melted when Tony Hicks looked at the camera.

  • Allan looks like he just came back from sharing the stage with Robert Plant and the others are dressed like a cabaret band from Butlins. Weird.

  • Phew! Getting hot in here!

  • AMAZING SONG AND BAND!!!

  • leisure suits omg

  • i think the leadsinger looks a little bit like robert plant^^

  • @schoaskopf Hmmm...could be...but Robert Plant (great as he is) has never made me feel like this... hehe!!!

  • Great version - they made it a hit before the Boss was famous.

  • Great band doing an awfull version of a great song

  • Allan Clarke u gotta stop this !! u r driving me Crazy with love for you xx !!! not fair ..thank you for being theee sexiest man from my generation ..The one and Only 60s' .. hugs .. lyndloo..

  • Love the Holies but don't care for this none too much

  • Omg ...nice video. I still love this group and many of songs. Thanks of posting.

  • Allan Clarke can make anything sound good. Very nice, Hollies.

  • This is a fine example how to fuck up a good song. What a pissversion, ugh

  • @jeckske tosser

  • @mkyjhns

:D I know, the truth hurts. And you're right, I nearly did toss my lunch when I heard this version. But don't get me wrong, I think they are very talented. It takes a true talent to wimpify a great song the way they did. Perhaps not the talent you'd be proud of, but hey, some guys hold the world record for long distance pissing. And these guys - they are great song fuck uppers.

  • @mkyjhns Freedom of speech man, learn to respect it. And btw I also believe this version brings down the quality of the song.

  • moi x

  • moi x

  • Rickenbacker bass guitar??

  • Sounds like the ' Eagles ' !

  • nothing like the eagles, sounds more like smokie.

  • ich liebe dieses/mein Lied!

    ;-)

  • First time I heard this version. It is brilliant! Interesting to note that in my opinion, it sounds a little Crosby, Stills and Nash-ish. BUT in a GOOD way! The Hollies definitely paved the way for "CSN", and of course "CSNY". Why else would Crosby and Stills lure Nash away? :-)

  • WoW love this music, Im from the 60s

    5*********

    Terry

  • wish i was

    i was born in 74!!

  • @clazza01

    Don't be sad...'74 was a bloody good year...woohoo!

  • In hope some of you guys read this. You were --- perhaps the best. You make me cry. This is one of your best best songs, but most of them were wonderful. Nash out - Sylvester in -- equally good. Bless your singing and your musuc. 51 model

  • Beautifully written. Thank you...I hope they read it too.

  • Pity they didn't write it.

  • I think it's interesting that in that Graham Nash performed Harry Chapin's "Sandy" (named for Harry's wife, Sandy) in a Harry Chapin tribute/benefit concert. The two songs are totally different, but one wonders about the connections.

  • none i guess

  • I like this version SO much better than Springsteen's. Some weird lyrics, but other than that it's a good song. Those Hollies harmonies on the chorus are GORGEOUS! You can't beat that!

  • Summer make-out song! Allan sizzles!!!

  • love this song,thanks again

  • According to what Paul Stanley said on the Kissology commentary, he wrote the Kiss song "Shandi" as a second "Sandy" he liked the original so much, he wrote a similar song with a similar title.

  • Allan's voice is amazing and he always gives his magic touch with their interpretation.

    Besides being this man sexy.

  • He is a bit sexy, I`d have to agree ;))

Add that VOICE and I`m a gonner!!!!

  • Beautiful tune...one of many great songs written by Bruce, but no one can compare to Allan with his voice!!

  • ALLAN CLARKE is unsurpassed, unique, perfect!!!!

  • Just my opinion but I adore these guys!!!

And it doesn't matter if they are singing something from the 60's,70's,80's...it's like I'm a teenager again and in love for the first time!!...only it's for this WHOLE band!! I really think Terry replacing Graham adds so much more....plus he's just gorgeous !! It's amazing how they can take you to a different time and place and you feel they are just singing to you!! Thanks so much for posting this!!

    xxx

    Barbara

  • I agree with all you wrote.

YT Hollies videos make life complete. A million thanks to all the generous and talented people who post them...we love you!!!!

  • The Hollies had a knack for making hits of songs by unknown songwriters at the time of this hit one Bruce Springsteen was a unknown performer.

  • thanks for the video, this is so great

  • I'm floating on a cloud after seeing this dreamy video. Allan's vocals are outstanding, and it was nice of him to show some chest flesh! Thanks, NYRainbow4. You made my day!

  • Why is moorlock getting negative comments? She/he is not critisizing the fact it is not live. He/she is only mentiong the interesting fact that it is a new recording, perhaps made only for this broadcast, which I , as a true Hollies fan, do find interesting.

  • But RP50, this was very common in those days to lip sync. It was intended for television promotional purposes. So what. Reading all of these positive comments, it served the purpose. :-)

  • I am positive Bruce Springsteen did a version of this song and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone else remember this?

  • Written by Springsteen - on his 2nd LP "Wild Innocent & E Street Shuffle". The song is called "4th Of July Asbury Park"

  • Thank you very much for the info. I had no trouble finding it once I knew the actual title- I just always thought it was called "Sandy".

  • @busruckus1 "I am positive Bruce Springsteen did a version of this song ..."

That might be because Bruce Springsteen wrote the song. It is on his album 'The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle' released in 1973.

  • @Foxy1304 It is Bruce Springsteen's, but evidently he heartily approved of The Hollies rendition!

  • @busruckus1 Bruce Springsteen wrote the song. It's called 4th Of July, Asbury Park from The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle.

  • Nice!

  • Wow- I never thought I would see a music video of "Sandy" by the Hollies! Thank you nyrainbow4!!

  • Finally, a live version of Sandy. They sound amazing, but I wouldn't expect anything less from those Hollies boys. :)

nyrainbow4, you have definitely made my weekend too!

  • Made my weekend too. This is totally fabulous. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you friggin kidding me? I am now complete as a YOUTUBE Hollies junkie.Thank you nyrainbow4 you have made my day.
