I would painted the vehicle blue. Red is so ..feminishh... Besides, weren't the sideway windscreens smashed during a tornado hit? Maybe use bulletproof multiplex next time?

2007 Chevy Tahoe, hey Reed it looks good. Would love to see it. Its fast, are you sure it won't get caught in the inflow winds from the vortex? I like how it clamps to the bottom that is very cool. Its a suction of some sort this is good. Red was good, Twister like in color.. however how much did this cost to do? Maybe $20,000?

Is it bad you can hear it rattling as it drives by? In any event when are you guys gonna make an auto probe dropper. Something it a fast action winch that can be remotely activated. Never understood why you have not done anything like that yet.

It's not meant to drive into the tornadoes like the TIV. I can see why you think that though. The TVN Research Vehicle and the TIV LOOK the same but Don't work the same

I disagree, the fact that it has a rubber seal around the bottom, it is aerodynamic in all directions. A normal car would get blown over, this thing wont because the air flows across the vehicle and not underneath it.

And some great info on how tornadoes work, so that better warnings can be made. I have lived through two tornadoes, and was too close to the Windsor, Colorado tornado of 2008. that thing was scary. I smell some competition with Sean and the Vortex team.
One thing I notice about this vechile versus TIV is that it is as nimble as your Tahoe was. And I don't think you will have breakdowns and axles snapping on that thing.
One thing Sean really goofed up was weight and nimbleness as you said on the series.
With all that said... Can I have a ride in that? Wow.. It's a looker in a good way!
Just don't over estimate the wind speeds you think you can take because of the skirt being on the ground. If you get just enough side wind to rock vehicle to where skirt lifts, say hold on. Everyone in chase vehicle needs to lean into any side wind, lol.
I can't wait for season 3 of Storm Chasers!!! But as mentioned by others, I hope it doesn't slow you down, or break as often as Sean's TIV does. You guys (Reed, Joel, Chris) are easily the most fun to watch on the show though.

I saw that vehicle in a documentation about Tornadoes in the german TV yesterday. But it wasn't red. The documentation was made back in 2005 so maybe that's the reason of the changed colour : -P
Found it interesting when Reed said that it's red so if it goes airborne at least it will be visible.. haha, Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it seems that he wants to get rather close for his vertical velocity radar images... I think it will suit the purpose, but I STILL want to see how it takes a back road like they tend to take fairly often, a few dips and some decent sized pot holes on a sand or gravel road that are all over KS and OK... it won't always be on pavement, we all know that.

TIV is better because it was built from the ground up, this is just a tahoe with a metal casing pretty much. but this IS just for radar, not really for intercepting tornadoes so for what it is its incredible.
Although cool, that is some pretty crummy workmanship. I hope you didn't pay more than $1000 to have all that stuff done. Sheetmetal looks looks too thin, thing is held together with booger welds...man, I just hope you don't get a false sense of security in that thing. How are those belts secured behind the seats?

Sweet! You're only gonna be able to go on pavement tho.That's the problem the first TIV's had. They were losing tornadoes all the time cuz most weren't highway accessable. Then they got stuck on a gravel road, and almost got killed by a huge tornado. Btw, how do you test out intercept vehicles? Couldn't you get killed the first try?

please note that the TIV was designed to endure a tornado strike and would be less vulnerable to tip over than the lightweight dominator here

Dominator - only be able to withstand impact of a category F0-1

thats pretty but tornadoes destroy sturdier stuff all the time. that thing wouldn't stand a chance. it would just get picked up and thrown like a pebble

ever heard of the TIV thats not as solid as some things but they know it's limits
i expect reed and the others will know it's limits so they won't go close to anything the car can't handle

Dude, The car looks good man. Great design and its even painted. Only bad flaw is people will recognize you and follow you every where you go. Owell, cant totally avoid every chaser convergence. Good Luck this year Bro and Be safe.
