Instead of cutting the safety lock on the heater, couldn't you just prop the shirt so that the heater and shirt are parallel to each other vertically? That way it COULD double up as a space heater and flash cure unit? Just wondering. as it does get cold where we live.
@killerklown91 Yes...but since heat rises there will be a difference in the cure time at top of tee than the bottom. This is a back up method, and actually, a similar double bar quartz heater is available in a horizontal configuration that better conforms to the shape of a platen. I will dig up the link for that and post it here. Vertical DBQ is a 'last resort'but it works. horizontal heat focus is important whatever you use. I also just built 2 halogen flash cures will post vid link soon.
why four legs? I have an 'over bed table" from a thrift store (one leg and rolls, makes less clunky)I have since mounted the quartz unit beneath that. I just swing it over the platen as needed. STILL...the electric oven works awesome for curing. 25 / 35 seconds for a FULL cure, depending on whats being cured.. A man offered me an 8 ' 'mini'(compared to what!?)tunnel drier for $500.00 recently. Good price, but I showed him my oven works better; for FREE. He never thought of THAT. Most don't.
I feel and personally know the electric oven to be a safer way to flash and cure. Your call. Please be safe with whatever you choose! A tee shirt is a terrible thing to die for.
PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE DESCRIPTION REGARDING '09 CHANGES. Thanks for watching and please do subscribe...as I feel the need to make more videos returning!
