well as sound technician its never good you work the hole day and they a few hours and you still get the shit! the problem is most of the time with small gig`s that they want the sound to be very loud on stage and you end up with trouble with the sound for the public.

heard FROM A DRUMMER-"I need more drums in the monitor!" silent sound guy thought " and I need more talent in the drum cage" . And for the record- in ear monitors are the way to go if you want to be your own sound guy.

Your in a bar..your not in shea stadium..we can't get the vocals ( the important thing ) over your 100 watt marshall head in a 40 foot room. I used a fender deluxxe reverb when i played in small rooms. 30 watts of smokin hott tubes and perfect for a small room. With great sustain. If you want to look big..set them marshall stacks out there and mic the deluxe.

i did a gig for a veteran b list national band and soundcheck went great. During there set he decided he wanted more instruments in his monitor. He never gave me the that enough deal ya kno, just put em in, put them up conservatively too. It was monitors from foh. About two songs later he pulls me up on stage and starts yelling at me. Pushes me in front of the monitor and goes. LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO MY MONITOR. Guitar was a little loud but how am i suppose to know that from foh?

I just assumed everyone knows that the band members are self-involved, arrogant jerks. The night after night carousel of thanklessness and the quiet, isolated self-hatred of soundmen seemed like a good idea for a song. Their story seems more interesting to me.

Acoustic environments at concerts never being anywhere near perfect and musicians always wanting near perfect sound = sound guys working their arses off and still getting abused = sound guys turning into bitter old drunks. Band members wouldn't talk to each other like they talk to their sound guy.
