  • PONTIAC, ALONG WITH BUICK & OLDSMOBILE ARE THE WORST CARS OF ALL-TIME. GOOD RIDDANCE TO PONTIAC & OLDSMOBILE. BUICK WILL JOIN THEM SOON AS OBSOLETE CARS.

  • @34kevinj why do you hate them so much?

  • what if at the end they said if you dont get any ass within 30 days of buying a trans am we'll refund the full price.

  • Tits and Ass for life thats the nick name of my TRANS AM

  • The slogan for this ride shoulda went- " The new 1986 Pontiac T. A. Engineered and designed to get you T&A." I'm just saying.... it worked for me anyways- still in 2011.

  • Drive this car and you'll get this ass. They should just have stamped that at the bottom of the screen. The classic era of the Firebird ended at the end of the 70's anyway.

  • @roquefortfiles You are referring to the 2nd Gen, which actually extended into 1981. And no, that wasn't the "classic era". The 'classic era' was from 1967 to 2002. The 3rd Gen was awesome. Did you forget about the upscale GTA or the screaming '89 Anniversary? And the 4th Gen continued the futuristic feel with even more power in the LT1 era, before returning to the in-your-face 2nd Gen vibe in the LS1 era (1998-2002).

  • @usquanigo For me the classic era was 67 to 78. When they changed the front end in 80 that was it for me. Didn't like the styling after that

  • @usquanigo Actually only 67-92. The 4th gens are not classics by no means. They are still noticeable and they are starting to fade into the dark now as to where the 3rd gens were for a long time. The third gens are higher up in value to a buyer now because the 4th gens are selling for cheap now and the 3rd gens are starting to become more valuable and recognized to collectors,as where the 2nd gens were and still are. The 4th gens still have another 10 years down the road to be a collectible car

  • @91TransAmKid They are classics. "Classic" is a term used as a complement to imply that it is great. It has naut to do with age or "collector value". Besides which, if we assume that something will become valuable, then isn't it "collectible" before it gains the value? (why wait just to pay more, that sort of thing). Either way, yeah, "instant classic" or "that's _classic_!" are ways that term applies 100% to every single one ever made. (save maybe for the 74 &/or 75s with that ugle vega nose)

  • @usquanigo your even lucky to get 7500 for a stock ls1 car in stock form today. Theres to many on the road right now.People bought 2nd gens for like 400 bucks back in early 90s because they couldnt get rid of them. Now there so highly sought after and on the market for a lot of money as (COLLECTOR) pieces. Plus 4th gens never got near the amount of options you could get during the 3rd gen run. Not to mention a 4th gen firehawk will never come to close to value as to what a 3rd gen firehawk will.

  • @91TransAmKid This is blatantly false. KBB Value on my car is $14.6G and Autotrader shows average prices around $11G.

Further, you just don't get it. It's not about dollar value. People who buy & sell to make money are disgusting. And as stated, dollar value is not req'd for something to be a classic.

There are not that many T/As. damn dirty camaros, yes, but not T/As. 4th Gen Firehawks are devalued because they erroneously sold the package on T/As as well. (more)

  • @91TransAmKid Finally, there are fewer _options_ on 4th Gen T/As because everything became standard. (to my chagrin too, I wanted a hard-top, but could not get one, as since 98 all T/As are t-top as standard).

Pontiac needed to decide what to do with the GTA when the 4th Gen was being made, and the decision was to make the GTA the standard, rather than a "high end Trans Am", it became all Trans Ams. Thus, less use for option packages - you just got it all. In which case, who needs options?

  • @usquanigo im not debating about this any longer with you, but know one thing, the only reason why the GTA never went into a 4th gen is because the GTA was over priced. By the end of the GTA run they were range in 25 grand area instead of 20K to 21 K for a 4th gen Trans Am new. It was about saving options and money. And the GTA was only about the same circumstances like the IROC was, build a higher end sports car over the Z28 and Trans Am. And they did. Had nuthing to do going toward a 4th gen

  • @91TransAmKid You never had anything to debate, you've been wrong about everything, including this. The GTA was inspired by the SR-71, originally going to be called "Blackbird" & aimed at high end import sports car buyers. It was requeste to use the GN engine, but denied for cost reasons, it could only be done for a limited special edition (89 Anniv).

(this youtube character limit sucks balls - more)

  • @91TransAmKid Also, you got your pairings wrong, z28 & Formula, ss & T/A.

And It WAS a decision about what to do in 93, and it WAS incorporated into "regular" T/As.

I've had 2 3rd Gens and absolutely love them. One was a GTA, which is (effectively) the American Aston-Martin in many ways (meaning it can be viewed as such, not speaking about design intent here). Your name does not impress or impart authority, and you are just plain incorrect and ill-informed.

  • good grief! love those '80s

  • She reminds me of Vanity! Well, Vanity when she was D.D. Winters, anyways!

  • Man, this is SO 80's...

  • like a boss

  • Excellent!

  • Had a white 86 ttop 5.0 TPI for a short time, it was decent car, but sold it because i was in need of truck. 86 was the worst year for TPI the down graded to the peanut cam which reduced power from 215 to 190. Big difference. The power wasnt there but i looked the handling and the tight steering it had. Ive mainly stuck with 89 and up 3rd gens though more power and fun to play with.

  • @transam92 i used to have a 89 2.8L, you think your 5.0 was slow... but i also had a 96 T/A so yeah, I got both ends of the spectrum. 0-60 in about 12 seconds, then 0-60 in 5.8. both were autos

  • 80's poesy

  • yeah hes just got built up excitement!

  • lol, so 80s.

  • What's the soundtrack's name?

  • nowadays, that hooker would cost more than the car

  • damn that car can get all the chics back then

  • Wish I knew who composed the music and where I can get it - Dang.

  • does anyone know where to get an aftermarket computer for the fuel injected series? cause its almost impossible to find an original one and the one in my 86 firebird v6 is faulty... :(

  • the big autoparts stores can get them i got a re built computer for my 87 5.0 tpi IROC for 100 bucks from a local store!

  • I love my 86' T/A, its got digital dash, WS6 suspension, TPI, and you can't beat the styling...It dosn't bother me that the 3rd gens arn't the fastest of the Firebirds, I still think they're the best looking! Damn GM for closing Pontiac

  • i still own my 85 trans am HO with five speed. she has low miles and looks beautiful. just to crank her up and hear that v8 rumble is worth the premium gas she loves. has all that low end grunt when shifting! ZooooM....Pontiac forever...!

  • I used to own a '86 Trans Am even nicer than this.

  • @poolboyinla love this style trans am

  • dope soundtrack

  • And people continues to ask me, why i drive Pontiac's ?

    Just beacause....

  • fuck hybrids

  • This still makes me mad, GM cuttin Pontiac from its line of vehicles

  • Agreed. If they would have brought back the Firebird along with the Camaro, I think it would have saved the brand.

  • Too danged true, I think that same thing.

  • they were planing on bringing it back they just didnt have time to get it done before gm cut them i dont understand why pontiac got cut you would think they were bringing more money in than buick

  • yeah its a shame that pontiac was closed down...i think the reason for not shutting down buick is because I believe they are like luxury cars in china and japan...they sell a lot more there

  • @Hectorson3 so do i

  • Relax hes probably picking up some hooker cause he wants to get head

  • .........man, I miss the 80's......

  • @1981qrycher so do i

  • There are bad apples in every bunch. I have have had two: 84 and 85. Only sold 84 to get the 85 style I always wanted and it is 25yrs old now! Never a problem and I drove it across the USA! Yes, that plastic airdam ($50) needs to be watched because if it goes the car suffocates and overheats, but I swear that GM small block is bullet-proof. That's not shitty at all. Now all the plastic inside that rattled even when brand new, that's a different story.

  • lol I owned one of these and it was the biggest piece ever. 190hp out of a 5.0 V8, are you kidding me! Not only that but it overheated constantly because of the flimsy air spoiler under the car.

  • anyone know whose selling a car like this one

  • Hot chick, cool music, bitchin' car...I love this commercial!

  • Firebird and Trans Am WAS and STILL my favorite of all the Pontiacs. Especially the 80's with that pop-up headlights. It was my dream then, but since GM killed it, I can't get even if I can afford it now and want it. Camaro is comming back, so it is only fair for the Firebird to come back. I hate the Camaro, I want the Firebird back.

  • "Buy a Trans-Am and you can be as smart as David Hasselhoff !"

  • The music for this was done with Skunk Baxter of the Doobie Brothers ... very cool.

Ride Pontiac Ride, which is the most iconic of the Pontiac themes was composed by Mark Vieha at LANY music, lead singer was Mark Campbell.

FWIW the opening chord progression of the Stephen Colbert Report theme music are identical to the original "We Build Excitement" '82-'86 theme, which was composed by commercial music legend Steve Karmen.

  • who made the music for this commercial?....

  • The 80's rocked. Everything was about trying to live in the future. It was a forward thinking decade with a seriously cool vibe. This commercial isn't just awesome, nor just about an awesome car, it captures the feel of the era perfectly. You could almost see the BAMA sprawl and picture Case picking up Molly on their way to a club after their work for Armitage.

  • Man she's hot!!!!. Very hot girl indeed. :P

  • love this commercial!

  • Juist awesome to see my own Bird in this commercial :D :D I've got an 87 TransAm in black with gold, just as in this clip. Just great!

  • Good shit. i really want one. Love the gemotric, angled cars of the 80s

  • Yeah! I had one too; '87 Trans Am with black-gold colouring and 305 cid V8. It was the car of my life :')

  • Own an '86 Trans Am myself. Silver.

  • @ManiacalLaughter what year

  • The look on his face says all you need to know. "Oh yeah, I am soooooooo getting laid tonight and I owe it all to Pontiac!" ROTFL

  • This is an upcoming '87 in the commercial. In '86 Pontiac mounted the CHMSL 3rd brake light (Center High Mount Stop Lamp) in an aerodynamic barbette on top of the rear hatch-the only year it was mounted on the exterior of the rear glass hatch at the roof line. '87 and on Firebird either mounted the CHMSL in the middle of the rear spoiler or up inside the rear hatch in a special underslung pod under the glass. So, either they took it off for the shoot or it's an '87.

    See :36, :38, & :42 seconds.
