OK, this is really weird. At 5:41, Superman somehow has mind control? In the Donner cut, he used his heat vision to destroy it. What the heck Richard Lester?!!

They weren't wearing warm clothes but flying in the artic so Lois and Lex would freeze to death, also in comics he kept the fortress location secret so had to cut those scenes as Police wouldn't know where it was located those were stupid.

@hydrolito The movie's not towing line to line with the comics but Supes did destroy the FOS in the extended cut right after the police came so there was no incentive for anyone to continue probing his hideout. (plus he did also turn back time again in the Cut so no one would remember!)

As for the warm clothes part, who knows? maybe flying on the back or alongside a Kryptonian prevents hypothermia when in the arctic or FOS. It happened twice to Lois when she was flying on Supes and Non. :)

@GriffithAMPS Donner filmed the elevator scene, but the flying scene between Non and Superman were by Lester. 1:50-9.27 was Donner

this has probably been said but if Donners Superman 2 had been released, the story line for Lex in Superman Returns, would not exsist. How could Lex build land if Superman destroyed the Fortress? And the way he got it was to send Superman away. While Superman was gone Lex went into the Fortress. Just thinking.

Those last few scenes should have been included in the theatrical cut as they truly reveal more of Lois Lane's character, and Margot Kidder's acting ability. I love how Chris Reeve supported Margot by showing restraint in his Superman caracterization in order to let Kidder shine. My love for this movie just grows with time. Saw it for the first time as a 12-year-old kid w/ the whole family in Mann's Chinese Hollywood in 1978... :)

@gothatway09 He was born in 1952, cast in 1977 at 25, filmed in 1978 and released when he was 26, in 1980 they finished filming part 2 for release in 1981, so Reeve would've been between the ages of 26 and 28 during filming, still young but late 20s and not early 20s.

@gothatway09 Christopher was actually 26 when Superman The movie was made. When Superman 2 was released Reeve was 29 although around half of the movie was being filmed during the same time period as the first Superman movie which means that Reeve was 26 for parts of the film while he was 29 for the other parts. And your off to a great start if your looking up to Christopher Reeve as a symbol of maturity among many other things.

@msmithstud At that point in time the comic books had Superboy and Lex as already living in Smallville it was Lois and Clark the Adventures of Superman that had no Superboy and that was 1993 years after this, even though Superboy tv series ran from 1988-92 so made no sense unless say was an alternate earth version as they often used in comics.

you could purchase the ABC cut of I, II, and III on ebay years back. That's where i bought I and II. It's practically impossible to find the ABC cut anywhere now. The ABC cut of Superman The Movie has several other scenes that were not included in the 2001 or 2006 cut. If i had the equipment to transfer these movies on to dvd and sell them i would.

i love how margot's hair changes from scene to scene. If i'm correct i read she wore a wig for I and II. She naturally has brown hair, but her hair is almost black in the first 2 films but brown in III. Jimmy's hair changes as well,paricularly when the villains invade the Daily Planet. His hair is shorter in the Donner scenes but curlier in the Lester scenes.

@undeadnightorc so many people have commented on that on youtube. That had to be a major blooper. Almost like showing the 3 villain being escorted by the Arctic police after fell off the cliffs in the FOS.

@undeadnightorc I always figured Lex might have gone through a butt load of the kryptonian memory banks, and maybe something cropped up about the ship landing in Smallville. he would have no idea how that connects to Clark because Clark is a nobody and never met Lex.

The Donner movies may try to claim that Clark is just a disguise with Reeve's Supes, but his humanity really shown through here. When he's with Lois, he isn't Superman, he's the "real" Clark Ken.

this scene, 1-1:50 was shot by Donner. In the ABC cut it is seen immediately after he leaves Lois' office after the amnesia kiss. Notice he is wearing a different tie when he kisses Lois in her office and when he's walking to the elevator with Jimmy.

@DarPower1 yes. Except 1:13-1:33. I believe that scene was in the Donner cut only. All the deleted scenes in the ''special features'' of the Donner cut are included as well, including the cheesy ''concorde scene' while he's flying to Paris and the East Houston boy being killed by Non.

@flix2view in my opinion the producers should have allowed richard donner to complete superman II. too many versions in too many places. also poor editing. such a disorganized mess.
