  • @varsh1309 Usually it's just based around oil, lemon juice/vinegar, and egg yolk, but mustard can be common depending on the origin of the food you're eating (culturally). Don't remember exactly where, though.

  • @pipuk3 If it makes you feel better, it is not blood. Nearly all the blood is drained out at the slaughter house. It is just normal meat juice that gets its colour from a protein called myoglobin.... So go and cook yourself a big steak sandwich...

  • My mayo normally has lemon juice with tiny bit of english mustard for a bit of heat. Never tryed useing garlic might give it a try. How soft was the bread btw? It looked quite robust, in which case i would have preffered toasting it slightly.

  • Hi guys, love you lots an all, but I'm just worried you've forgotten what the aim you set out for 'Sorted' food was in the first place. Simple, student food. I myself am now a student and steak is an expensive meat and a lot of the equipment you guys use nowadays aren't available or to expensive to purchase for students. I hope you understand where i am coming from and i hope you can do some sort of 'back to basics' kind of episode, just for the fans, all the best :)

  • @yevonator88 There shouldn't be any issues if you use fresh eggs, that have been stored correctly and are "in date". Throw them out if they look a bit suspect :-D

  • looks amazing. my mom does the best mayonnaise ever. no garlic, some "normal" mustard, and exclusively olive oil are the differences. oh, and if you whisk it by hand, you should always whisk in the same direction, or it will separate. true story, aching arms ;)

  • I'm doing a camping trip (uk equivalent is the Duke of Edinburgh i think..?) and they also evaluate you on your cooking. Got any suggestions on food which can be cooked on two small cook sets (i.e. 2 pots, 2 frying pans & 2 kettles) which is light to carry, yummy, fast and unique? (Trip is the first week of Feb so i'd really appreciate any idea you have, for my previous one I cooked chicken fajitas & s'mores but we have to have a different menu and it has to consist of two meals!) Thanks (: 

  • @mileyrox93 Have a look at something like our Tuna Linguine, or Pasta Carbonara or even Turkey and Mushroom Stroganoff - all really easy to do with limited equipment!

  • @lalooshwashere It's a reduced balsamic. You can make it (it's more of a pain in the ass than you think) or there's pre-reduced ones you can buy.

  • i got the cookbooks for christmas and the other night i made the thai recipe from the student survival guide one for my friend and i! i have leftover peanut sauce in my fridge! soooooo gooooood!

  • @pkpeacekid the leftover sauce is equally good with some stir-fried beef strips! Just fry in oil with some sliced onions and then drizzle with sesame oil at the end before stirring through the leftover satay sauce! :D
