  • US History teacher here, thanks for the vid, great job!

  • Great video! I'm a U.S. History teacher and showed it to my students to reinforce their learning of the Gilded Age. Thank you for posting it on here

  • Thank you (:

  • A very well made, mentally stimulating video. Very Helpful.

  • The video seems very helpful. Thanks. I know you did it for an 8th grade class but Im gonna use it to study for AP US History test. Again, Thanks:)

  • And America is definately heading for (if not already) a revival of the Gilded Age. Income Inequality is reportedly at the highest level since the early 1920s; people working entry-level jobs in wealthy areas (McDonald's, farmers, construction workers) are increasingly struggling; will the trend away from rural areas reverse?

  • I'm in Mrs. Ashenberg's class right now and I must say, this movie is riveting! I enjoyed it very much. Very informative!

  • Oh never mind, I watched the end of the video, it's called "In Repair".

    sorry

  • Very good video, usually the student made ones kinda suck.

Btw, what was the second John Mayor song please?

  • im using this to help me study for my history mid term. THANK YOU so much for posting this. it really helped, i mean it sums up about 3 units of what we have to learn in under 10 min!!

  • This video forgot to mention the end of the Republic.

Kids, while you are at it, read the history of direct democracy and the failures of Ancient Greece, which led to Socrates execution, wealth running the empire, and the execution of 5000 women and children...

Then read James Madison's concerns about the US becoming a direct democracy

Then read how wealth wins Primaries, and no parties exist.

Then, you'll have the history of the corruption not mentioned in this video.

  • Using the Gilded Age as a possible thesis for my essay for English 431: The American Novel. I'm studying McTeague by Frank Norris and I believe the whole "gilded coin" thing has a lot to do with it. Also, one of the things that McTeague could not let go of was his canary--one that sang in a gilted (c)age. :D

  • Thank you, thank you thank you! My class will be learning this soon :D

    Five stars

  • I really enjoyed your video..I got sick of reading about the gilded age so switched to watching some videos for my final..I like the begining of it with the coin, suggesting what's underneath the gold...

  • Awesome video. Excellent choice of music. Excellent job.

  • Im having to impersonate Ida Tarbell in front of my class for a project. any tips?

  • Good Luck. There may be many ways you may proceed in your endeavor. May be you may have a conversation with J.D. Rockefeller. I would have a copy of her book on Standard Oil as a prop for sure. Sorry I could not be of more assistance.

  • thats accually a fair idea. thank you for that i might just take a trip to the library.

  • thank u for posting this video
