OMG....i just fell inlove with your precious daughter!! I can see in your video that she is sooo loved by all of you and wish you much happiness in life...God Bless you all.
They do have a beautiful family! The baby is very quite! Are they really forced to give away kids in china? (Many adopted parents would be devastated if that were true.)
Kids can be given away for various reasons - poverty, gender bias, pregnancy outside marriage, etc. I'm really glad the girl was adopted into a loving family. Unfortunately there are millions of orphans out there who aren't so lucky, waiting for a home and family.
I had an argument once with a college indoctrinated, ABC friend who said that she objected to these adoptions because these children were losing their culture My reply was that being brought up in another culture was probably somewhat better than spending your life as a ward of the state. Just the same since Chinese adoptions by Americans usually work out so well for all concerned, you can bet that someone in authority will soon put an end to them.
I have to say I agree with you. Being a ward of the state is terrible, but I think most of these parents are culturally sensitive too. I think most of them teach their children about where they came from. Maybe you can encorage your friend to encourage other ABC's' to adopt girls from China, that way both problems are dealt with, there would be no wards of the state and they can be raised by their own people.
@Rallow Tell your friend that it's not about culture,it's about a life, There are 1.3 billion people in China but only very few families would bother to adopt a child. they only apreciate a biological child.so i don't understand why your friend had said sth so stupid,or just ask her if she will "bother" to adopt one to save the culture.
As a person of color who grew up in foster care, I understand your argument that the child would grow up as a ward of the state, but she would be a ward of the state in her culture. What disturbs me is there are children in the US who are up for adoption, but because of their race they are unwanted. To go to China or Russia to get a child when there are children in your own country who are cold and hungry, I find a contradiction of values. If one wants a child, race shouldn't matter.
As an adopted child myself, with a mother who was also adopted, I have such a big place in my heart for adoption. She is absolutely beautiful. I have a baby waiting for me in China, and can't wait till the day I bring her home. Congrats on your beautiful girl. I'm sure she's the happiest child alive.
I am in absolute tears!!! What a gorgeous, happy, blessing of a child!! As a mommy in waiting for my own Chinese daughter, this was lovely to see. It's good to know that the wait does end! God Bless you all!!
As a mama to a Hunan girl adopted in 2004, your daughter is so precious, sweet and beautiful. I loved your pics and videos of her with the family. Please give her a big hug from us.
She is really gorgeous! What a great smile! We are about to finalize the adoption of our daughter, who came home from Korea last November - congratulations on your beautiful little girl!!!
She is beautiful! I have four sisters who were adopted from China and know how amazing the whole experience of adopting is. You did a great job capturing it on video. : )
