I managed to have a quick chat with Peter Grant who was on Row 3. He said this was one of their first 'live' performances of Stairway To Heaven. Can you imagine the concert reviewer didn't like the song?
haha, that's cool, I normally get the message then some demonic ramblings and 666 or something like that, I think they come from some church group then a link to some Jonas brothers or something,
anyway backwards or forwards, it's still a classic! ;o)
I spammed it, I'm getting a lot of have you heard it backwards messages, driving me up the wall, who goes around listening to songs backwards anyway, backward people!
Yeah its a 12 string, well at least for the 12 string parts. You cant pick it up really, on this bootleg. You can distinguish more on TSRTS because the 12 string has rather fake chorus added to it to make it stand out as the 12 string part.
TSRTS was a high quality soundboard, most soundboards are normally so dry and lacking high frequencies that you can't pick it out either. Theres something bigger sounding about the whole tone but the average person can't find it. Perhaps its because I have listened to it so many times I just dont pay attention. Check out stairway from Danke Vienna 73' if you havent already, that is pure soundboard amazing ness.
It is important to point out that the commentary comes from Luis Rey's outstanding books...He is brilliant and has dedicated a lot to Led Zeppelin-to my mind,THE authority on live recordings and his books are required reading for the serious Led Zeppelin fan or for anyone interested in exploring the live bootlegs...

@chalitin11 The recording seems to be a little flat, if you want to jam with this just tune all of your strings down a half step.
