  • He's as tall as Davydenko ....... now you'll understand if he is short for tennis :D :D You suckers !

  • Sick winner? That was a pretty gay looking slice...

  • so sick haha :p

  • nishikori is not that short. he's 5'10 or 5'11. ferrer is 5'9. rochus is 5'5

  • lols, fake dropshot

    not funny for blake though....

  • I do this move waaay too much in my games lol

  • hes 5'10 thats not short to play tennis thats acutually pretty good height look at david 5'9 and hes ranked 6 in the world trust me you dont always need to be tall to play all sports 5'9, 5'10 is average height

  • I always do this....on Virtua Tennis :)

  • kei be trollin' ... blake hatin'

  • Uhhhh for anyone complaining about his height, please explain to me why he's in the top 50? The guy can play, and play well. Shut up about his height

  • @explodingpimp he's 30 in the world now, height doesnt make any difference when your talented at what you do. Human fact: typical humans allways look for flaws. In Nishikori's case it's his height.

  • that was the ugliest looking return i've ever seen.

  • He must take lessons from Fed.

  • I'm going to try that myself...

  • rios was smaller and was one, chang was number 2 and was way smaller, muster was same hight and was number one....only to mention a few...

  • Davydenko is Shorter than nishikori ...

  • NISHIKORI :D

  • I don't understand why you think he is short, he is like 5'11 one inch away from 6ft?

  • @ZawShin He's 5'10. The average height on the ATP Tour is 6'2.

  • blake got own

  • seen murray do this a lot

  • I really hope Nishikori can recover from his injuries and make the top 30

  • this guys is awsome, mabe il play him one day

  • Federer does this sometimes. It's very effective.

  • I wonder if Federer got the idea of adding this to his game from this guy.

  • @3timeMVPNash He's been doing

  • Ha! Nice. I've seen that in badminton, but not in tennis much.

  • Nishikori is super talented. I hope he trains hard.

  • Nishikoris forehand looks like blakes.

  • Really?

I think it looks more like Federer judging how he generates pace with his trunk.

Both Rog and Kei turn their trunks really fast before even moving the arm, then completely stops the trunk when it faces toward the net-transfering the energy to the hitting arm very very late.

Blake keeps rotating his trunk all the way even during follow through.

  • i love japs!!!

  • I love people!!!

  • thats actually not a bad shot....even if it wasnt a disguise shot!!!

  • that serve return looks even more incredible

  • incredibly sick shot. takes a creative player to even think of doing something like this.

  • LOL Blake looked pissed afterwards.

  • woot! Nishikori for top ten!

  • Nice Quality!

  • The commentator's voice is fucking annoying

  • ive done this once but it was on accident

    ahaha

  • intelligent shot

  • Nice disguise

  • he's not gonna outhit blake that's for sure. But he can outsmart anyone with shots like that. He disguises a lot of shots really well.

  • haha, that shots crazy. is it 1965 again? This guy is definetly going to be in the top 25 this year. I like him watching him play more than most anyone else on tour right now.

  • unfortunately an injury has forced him out for several months :(

  • At first i thought it was stupid but the execution is extremely difficult, so is the disguise

  • Clever shot! He's got a lot of potential he just needs to make sure he keeps using a tactical style of play, he's not going to outhit many of the guys.

  • That was some funny 'ish. lol

  • This was a great match. I went in hopes of seeing Blake maybe get a good start going for the season and I see Nishikori start what is and will be a very impressive run. He seems like a good all around player and with some endurance work will most likely be one of the greats

  • FEDERER^S SHOT. Incredible.

  • thats awesome

  • if hes too short to play tennis then what is he doing?

  • @ikilledobama Exactly!! Rochus is even shorter and can play a very good tennis!!!

  • @ikilledobama Have no clue who you are replying to, but Justine Henin is 5'5" and she dominated quite well for someone that is short.

  • @ikilledobama @ikilledobama Have no clue who you are replying to, but Justine Henin is 5'5" and she dominated quite well for someone that is short.

  • @xazn4lyphx

shes a girl dude, a 5"5" guy in mens tennis u'll get raped

  • @ikilledobama

He's 5' 10, not that short, and how tall are you BTW?

  • One of the shortest guys on the tour is Olivier Rochus with 167 cm and he was number 24 in 2005. Kei is currently number 56 and only 19 years old. I don't think that size is as important in Tennis as it is in other sports like Basketball. There may be a disadvantage in the service but with a good technique it is not that big.

  • yeah, look at justine henin

  • Like many racist bitches, you accomplish little in life and cling to their birthrights. Nishikori is a great tennis player he won this match and his skills and mental game are top notch. If Safin was as mentally strong as Kei, he would be as good as Federer. Anyways Kei is worth millions of dollars, what are you worth?

  • relevance to this video? u racist...

  • I really hope he gets into the top 10 in 09. Japan hasn't put out any top pros in a long time. i'm a japanese american and i'm a nishikori fan.

  • Me to! Too bad he lost his Australian open.

  • this a first for me...i'm definetly gonna go out and try this

  • What I mean is that you can see blake in the middle of moving to what appears to be a predetermined spot on the court, at about the T area. It's difficult shift your weight 90 degrees very quickly, especially with a larger person like blake

  • that shot was extremely brilliant and this is why. when he was about to strike the ball, he disguised it as a drop shot causing blake to run forward right before the ball was hit. this, however, was a bad idea for blake because by then, it was too late for him to shift his momentum sideways to his right as the ball whizzed past him. nishikori has some serious strategy skills, better than federer imo LOL

  • Man, I hope Kei breaks into the top 10 next year. I'm lovin' him.

  • You can see it in slow motion-Ys8qiENBE4I at 3:59.

  • The idea is just phenomenal!

  • beautiful... one of the most sexy shots in tennis history in my opinion

  • That was not a drop shot. It was like a slice forehand the ball landed 3 feet from the baseline.

  • Thats why its a "fake" drop shot, lol...

Looked like he was going to drop shot, but it was actually a very well disguised forehand slice.

The commentators never said it was a drop shot...

  • did he end up breaking?

  • he won the match

  • go asia!~!!!!!!!!!!!

  • clever!!! I hope he brings this creativity to his game in future!

  • yeah great, but this is not a federer video... this is a nishikori video!!

and guess what, it means nothing who did this first!!

  • Nice ;)

  • This is why I love when Japanese people enter sports. They always used out-of-the-box thinking in sports and they're so fun to watch. See Nakamura(in soccer), Fukufji(in Hockey), and that one point gaurd on the Phoenix Suns

  • c'mon. Let's go.

  • omg i am so amazed by this new young talent...he was blazing hot during the second set against nadal at the queen's just now

  • most of you trying to talk about roger federer's tactics are all nerds, he plays watever the hell he wants. u juz want to sound smart and pro but in truth, u suck ass

  • you just want sound like the voice of reason or the oracle, but the truth is, your not..

  • amazing :D

  • man i love watching this vid, its soo awsome ^^

  • uh...Fed does use a drop shot, and its very good/effective...He has said he doesnt LIKE using it though, but he has used it many times...

  • ur gay

  • If you like this shot, check out his jumping forehand, which he also hits in this match, third set I think. This kid has so much flair to his game, it's really surprising for an 18 year old.

  • Prince of Tennis

  • I've seen a shot like that. I remember the fake drop volley by Edberg. A very imaginative shot, and Kei's shot, too. I like that.

  • Nishikori was Feder's hitting partner at Wimbledon. Nice shot by Nishikori. It was a last second decision. Great shot.

  • looks like one of the triple counters haha

  • Agreed! Awesome triple counter!! He's awesome.

  • You can't be a serious fan.

Federer invented the fake drop shot.

  • Would love to see a Nishikori/Federer match this year. It can only serve to accelerate this kid's growth potential to have some time with The Master.

  • What a troll! Trying to incite violence inside a comments thread. Anybody who watches enough Federer matches knows he uses the drop shot. Albeit, not that often because he doesn't like it, but I have seen him fake one on no less than three occasions. (Youhzny comes to mind?) It's too bad there's no video I could point to, but that's only because he has so many other amazing shots.

  • take a look at "federermagic" s videos. he had a vid or two of fed hitting drop shots. true, he doesnt like to use them a lot, but he does on occasion. he even has a vid of fed faking one and hitting a slice forehand, seriously, they're all there. (haas beatdown)

  • wrong, watch his semifinal against Safin at AO 2005 for example, where he made a very similar fake drop shot. He doesn't hit hit drop shots often though, nevertheless it's stupid to pretend he neves uses them.

  • type in -federer drop shot- on you tube and you will see roger drop shoting, agains´t baghdatis in the australian open 2006, oh and he drop shoted agains´t ljubicic recently in indian wells, I saw it, and agains´t roddick at the 2007 australian open..trust me. he only does when it´s very comfortable to do..

  • 錦織最高!

  • That.. is just plain ownage.

  • Kei's favorite surface is clay and it shows.Love this guy.Congrats Kei;way to beat down James Flake!

  • is that true about clay? if it is, i cant wait for him to break thru at the French

"flake" lol, WISH I COULD SEE THE WHOLE MATCH!

  • yeah he won the doubles there in 2006 and he love football(soccer)and he said he can't wait for Paris.

go on the ATP page about his win and you'll read his comments all the way at the bottom of the page.

  • Definitely not, he is a hard court player

  • THAT WAS SICK!!! I try that shot alot, surprised not alot of people do but good to see a pro do it and making it work! this dood is one of my new favs.

  • That is so cool, I've never seen it done before...

  • Sick shot Nishikori-san...

    Yoshi!!!!
