  • I don't know why but I feel like YTs rendering has reduced the quality of the video :L

Like it misses a frame or two.

  • 70 dislikes?? ---why?, the quality is awesome!

  • how do you get your video quality to look like this when it's on 360p :(

  • is Glidecam HD-1000 good enough for Canon 5D Mark II with 24-105 lens?

  • This Will Destroy You :)

  • if you were following a tumblr girl, it would change this video alot more.. just saying but its a nice video!! nice camera works~

  • i think the glidecam 1000 is a bit just for a 5d Mark II the 2000 can take a lot more weight. that's why your video is not as smooth as a coconut lime

  • So how much were the lens, and camera all together?

  • I don't get it. The background and the subject are all over the place. The footage makes me a bit dizzy. If this was the intent I understand, but this is not a steady film at all.

  • @conrad2001 I agree, seems a little shaky, guess you have to practice alot.

  • Thank you for the site! I live for post-rock! Check out my own post-rock project here on youtube it's called august eternal!

  • Why would you tell us the first name of the song but not second track?

    Does anyone know it?

  • What codec did you use? What export settings did you use? Is this quicktime/H.264?

  • lmao you guys are retarded to think this is very shaky.. he is using a glidecam which is per se a mount of sorts you have around your body in order to reduce shaking.

  • @sdfxrplv2 Unfortunately it's true... This video is rather shaky. Using these devices takes some getting used to, and lots of practice, so it's no problem, just so long as the operator gets better

  • So much shake! Looks like handheld to me. Some major operator issues.

  • Nice test, but the 50mm is a bit too much for use on a glidecam. Stick with the 24-105 and keep it at 24mm because the wider the shot, the less the shake is visible.

  • So, in which part of the video did you use the Glidecam?

  • @lruss2004 LMAO that was funny!!!

  • very shaky ...

  • looks a bit stuttery and some tearing

  • I'm better with the camera in my hands then you with your glidecam... embarrassing

  • Ah, This Will Destroy You :)

  • Good stuff. Check out Vinnie Minton here on youtube, he's the Glidecam master. Vinnie has done stuff on House MD the television series.

  • бегают как дураки по улице, зеркалку что-ли не видели

  • 60d glidecam 1000 hd

  • greaaaaaat quality, and even though it was nothing, i actually watched the WHOLE video.. i liked it. keep up the great work guys

  • not balanced. FAIL!!

  • what lens please ?

  • @broncojonnes 50 mm 1.4 and zoom lens 24-105

  • @JoeTMR That's some expensive ish.

  • The operating is pretty horrid

  • @TheSockPuppetShow I agree it looks like he's shooting hand held

  • How did you get it to auto-focus during movement?

  • @cpo2u no autofocus mate, just skillful manual focus ! ;-p

  • @JoeTMR So you had a Focus puller with you or was it done by yourself? Thanks

  • @JoeTMR How the hell do you manually focus while handling the glidecam?? LOL

  • @cpo2u You probably never saw the effect of autofocus in DSLR (videos) nor the sound ;-)

  • what music

  • whered u buy it from?

  • wobble wobble

  • and rolling shutter is a killer

  • Great footage. So it looks like the 1000 is adequate for the 5D, that's great (cheaper). Is that the body-pod, too? does it work well? Thanks, great post, really helpful!

  • Holy Crap, i finaly found this video again!!! I found this video a while ago and LOVED the song and have been listening to This Will Destroy You like everyday since and i could never remember where i found about this band. So happy i found it again, such a great video, im considering buying the Glidcam 1000 but not sure if my Canon 60D is too heavy for it and the 2000 is in need?

  • Dope videos.

  • ahah thats in montreal i recognize the bus stops

  • @teamforteress haha represent MTL

  • I think you need to pay for a glidecam course.

  • lame stability

  • poor test results

  • poor test

  • frickin great quality

  • This Will Destroy You - Freedom Blade is an amazing choice for background sound.

  • Do you think a Nikon D7000 would be too heavy for this glidecam? I am debating between the 1000 and the 2000

  • wide lens?

  • @doommic Does it look like a wide lens?

  • handheld ?

  • the glidecam is a lie

  • Did you use a glidecam here? Or some kind of shoulder mount? I can do better then this with just my tripod, ....heheheh, but it's just a test, I know.

  • @mlipscombmtl it says in his title + glidecam

  • This is fine work, the shake is natural, the video quality is excellent. im sure you posers who just complain are complaining because you sitting there watching this dudes work instead of making your own

@joeTMR - Awesome sound, very british feeling to the work.

  • lens?

  • Nice attempt :) But isn't the 5Dmk2 camera + lens a wee bit too top heavy for the GlideCam 1000? Hence making it still shaky? :)

  • nice. but i dont like that waving like on the boat. profesional steadicams dont have this move. its for that dumm moving head.

  • NICE JELLO

  • What is the name of the song?

  • @Frontstreet25 Like the man asked, what is the name of this song please?

  • @67GRC JUST READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!!!!!!!!!

  • looks like handcamera

  • sorry if my questions sound stupid :

it is a DSLR camera isnt it?

can we record a video for a long time, say up to 2hours?

  • If this had a with and without...then you would see the dramatic difference between them. At the close proximity you are really getting subject bounce more than camera...watch the wall behind to see how the camera is really doing. Props for the fact that subjects never go out of focus....

What you guys need to show is the setup for the attachment...getting it balanced, etc.

  • Is the shutter speed really high or something?

  • I don't know why, but I thourghouly enjoyed that. Thank you.

  • amazing

  • very nice!!!!!!

  • i think the shake is helped by a high shutter speed, nice shots though and great music

  • Thanks for uploading this test.

I think the camera/lens combo maybe a little heavy for the Glidecam 1000, that's why it looks a little shaky.

  • @TheBennyGoodtimes

I disagree...the combo may be a touch light...which could also be a problem.

  • Better than most sony images

  • Figrig

  • Do you have it balanced right?

  • I wish all you people that have never filmed with a DSLR would hold back your comments, in the hope that you might stop making such fools or yourselves...

  • the focus on this camera is way better than any focus o those professional handy camcorders.

  • what was your frame rate? maybe if your it was higher than 30 fps then it could have contributed to the "shaky-ness" everyone is seeing. just wandering

  • after 1 min 30 sec i realized it was kinda gay just looking at this dudes.

  • @aldohodgkinson Would you prefer 2 girls 1 cup?

  • @aldohodgkinson it's not gay looking at these sexy dudes.................oh wait.

  • when does it start doing the gliding?

  • Loved it. this test is very watchable to me.

  • pretty damn bad glidecam.. jerky as hell not watcheble.... glidecam 1000 really suck...

  • You have a glidecam, but the test has failed ! It's moved everytime ! I think you don't know how to use it !

  • Wow, you needed to get the weight balance right, this was shaky as fuck!

  • I think its entirely possible that you could have shot smoother video by hand. I am actually fairly surprised at how rough it is. Thank goodness it was a test.

  • horrible, very bad, poor quality!

after I've seen this examaple, I was almost ready to send my HD-1000 back to factory!

NOBODY would buy one, after seeing this "video" ...

or did you make that footage BEFORE you bought the Glidecam without a steadycam?

  • which is better? Glidecam 1000 or 2000?

  • Belle définition d'image mais apparemment le cadrage n'a pas l'air très facile (tête coupée, balancement de l'image pas très agréable)

  • Amazing camera and the music suits the video.

  • Is this the effect of poor balancing on the glidecam or does it just suck this bad with a 5D? This is honestly bad...

  • This is like a music video! Its awesome

  • NAME OF THIS SONG PLEASE!

  • Nice footage and song. It helps a great deal to use a wider lens to reduce the appearance of shake. For the lenses you did use I'd say this was a great job, especially considering this was one of the first round shots. I was worried that my 7D and 10-22 would be to heavy but I guess it would be fine seeing this. I'm still a little unsure about my 24-70 2.8. I think it's a great deal heavier than the 24-105 f4

  • Great test. Thanks for posting.

  • thats some really shitty camera work, might as well be not using a glidecam

  • Hey, I'm interested in investing in a DSLR such as the Cannon 5D Mark II. I was just wondering if it's still a good buy, considering the fact its almost a year old.

  • where u get this music from?

  • this doesn't look like results I would pay for

  • Comment removed

  • Great. I think Post-Rock is the best choice for videos. So melancholic. I love it.

  • @AmbivalentAbyss I agree with you my friend, thanks for the comment man!

  • i want dis music...pls mail me at arpitverma1504@gmail.com

  • @AmbivalentAbyss i love post rock

  • yo wat camcorder did u use for the video?

  • nice how on earth did you manage to maintain focus on the move with such a shallow dof is really impressive nice

  • Hey these are some great shots, did you do color correction with this?

  • Disable IS )))) drop frame

  • I dont know about others but i loved the vid. It isnt like a gliding sequence, but the glidecam surely removes the jidder, and makes it look very filmlike. Loved it. QUESTION! When you import your files from the 5D mk II, (which is .mov files right?) do you convert them to something simpler to work with? Ofc you have mac and i have pc, but its impossible for me to edit these files in vegas 8. everything fucks up after some time. Maybe i just need to update or something. Best to ask anyways. :)

  • Now as others have said it is indeed quite shaky. That aside, the music and lack of presence of camera audio makes it a great video, as same as the quality and how you are focussing it mainly on these people. Seeing the date on the video, I presume you have now had practice with the glidecam and have smoother shots. Look forward to seeing more. When walking, move in a fluid motion and have one hand on handle and the other on the bearing that is on the rod, then use fingertips for panning.

  • I agree with slimeball its too shaky bro w WAY to SHAKY nice DOF at times !!! Try to balancing the glide again and VERY gentle touch when flying it but very cool !

  • it looks a lot better then holding it by hand. I just tested this camera out and it is very difficult to move around and shoot! I'll have to try the glidecam out plus some after effects stabilizing.

  • Great video quality but now i know not to get a Glidecam. Looks hand held to me

  • Nice!! I like the focus in the walking scenes!! Your Camera is awesome!! Can you recommend the Glidecam HD-1000??

  • This looks cool. Smooth enough for me not feeling sick and at the same time nice slight instability for doing cinema verite style. To me, this footage looks pretty cool and to me, this would be stable enough.

  • is this just me seeing a lsight shutter roll?

  • Not the best "gliding" effect I would say. I built my own gidecam and the result seems more satisfying that this. Perhaps you intentionally shaked the rig?! Or maybe this sensation is caused by close view of the subject....

    The camera takes great footage!

  • is that recorded with Canon EOS 5D ?

  • add more weight to the set up... otherwise its not heavy enough to stay stable... you might as well be using a mono pod....duh!

  • i dont know why people are buggin about the shaky camera, gives it that edge. What lens was used?

  • looks like it was intentionally shot for that live shaky look. but the image/color is to die for.

  • 7d is way better

  • ShakeCam 1000. Hah. Where'd you get this? Dollar store?

  • did you do any postproduction color grading or it was the quality which gives mark II? the picture is simply great! what kind of lenses yo u need to shoot like that?

  • good video but not play smoothly but result was good

  • not smooth but good pic

  • This is the worst "Glide Camming" I've ever seen!!

  • yes yes, he should try using a wide angle lens

  • @urbanediting

The camera/lens combo maybe a little heavy for the Glidecam 1000, that's why it looks a little shaky.

  • dude, this is really good!

    what lens did you use?

  • looks to me like the wrong frame rate - nice climbing though!!

  • you need to balance you rig

  • is this video suppose to be promoting the use of the glidecam 1000? I would really want to know... because the footage captured is very unstable... Watching this video made me nauseous! Capture quality is excellent... Production is not!

  • I think it's just a test.

To show what can be done.

I pesonally like a bit of movement, it makes if feel more ''alive'' and less fixed.

  • I've gotta agree with this. Is it just not balanced or configured or something?

At any rate, the 5D is impressive...

  • Hey man, great test shots! ????????????????

hä???? hes just going around.. !!!! with a camera like this.. everything looks amazing, even taking a shit.. i bet...

  • Hey man, great test shots!

The link you provided to your website doesn't work. Is there a new site or another place we can go to find great "postrock" music?

Wouldn't even mind if you gave me a few popular bands from this genre to start listening to. It's amazing!

  • What camera lens are you using?

    This looks absolutely fantastic.

  • we used both a canon L series zoom lens : 24-105 and a canon EF 50mm prime lens 1.4 aperture.

  • @JoeTMR Oh cool. I didn't know it would fit the canon EF Lens. I have one of those!!

  • very good yar nice shoot with glidcam i like i will try my vdo these adia

  • its still shaky as fuck. sorry man

    good concept poor execution

  • why are you apologizing? lol

    2. dont you read the word "test" in the title?

    3. good concept poor execution is a perfect comment... i can go on without the first part you wrote ;-p.. ciao bud ;-p

  • @slimeball6969 I actually don't mind the slight shakiness, it makes it seem more realistic.

  • @slimeball6969 you could def make a MOVIE with this camera, defnly

  • did u use the glidecam by itself or did u use the arm and vest?

  • Really good film well matched with some good post rock. Excellent camera too.

  • Awesome video and great music!

  • How much is a Glidecam 1000 Pro and what filters/aftereffects are used?

I love the test, good work.

  • I got the glide cam used for about 200$, brand new is about 350 Canadian. Check on ebay or craigslist for good deals. I used a bit of color correction in Final cut but thats it. No aftereffects or filters.

    Thanks!

  • He is just using a New 35mm camera thats why he has such great focus on the pople and the color correction is very good. Still a bit shaky. I got a glidecam 2000 Pro and its very nice. I use a canon XHA1s Camcorder, Its a bit easier to handle cause i got more weight.

  • The first part of that doesn't make much sense, I am also thinking of getting a Glidecam 2000 for my 5D Mark II.

  • takes practice :)

  • ciertamente no parece un video de prueba.

    muy buena musica ; )

  • Freedom blade by this will destroy you

  • what song is this?

  • pritty shackey :(

  • Ye, first time we used it.

  • hey! good quality i did like it a lot! i loved the song too! what is it called or who plays it???
