I also had this album in the early 70's. Check out an old movie called "The Groove Tube". This song is used int that movie in one of the various sketches. Richard Belzer is one of the actors.
These guys actually came into a club we were playing in Atlantic City 1971 or 72 and sat in minus Billy Cobham he was leaving the band. Thier vocalist Eddie heard us play New York City and brought the whole band in to see us .
@roccopep It's a joke- obviously there was no better than Michael and Randy with Barry Rogers. The horns were KILLING on this, and the whole band was amazing. They improvised a lot of the horn parts, and this was truly jazz-rock. If we could only hear this kind of thing live nowadays in a small NYC club....
I bought this album when it first came out because Randy Brecker had sounded so great on the first (Al Kooper) Blood, Sweat, & Tears album, and was glad I did when I ran into all of the other players on this. Great posting!
At this time nobody categorized music like nowadays and people listened to these new bands regardless of the background of the musicians. In this album there are rockers, jazz players, studio musicians, etc..Great period to be in a creative band like this.
I bought this vinyl from the cutout bin in early 70's because it's cover art matched a polyester shirt I had (I swear!) Got it home & found out the players - wow! Great bridge band between Chicago/BS&T-style horn bands and Mahavishnu/RTF/Weather Report jazz-rock fusion.
I had both their records and loved this tune, thanks for posting. I saw a lineup close to this at Paul's Mall in Boston in the 70's, Billy Cobham (Band) on drums, John Abercrombie on guitar, Brecker Bros. on horns, bass & keys? memorable show.
My best friend and I drove from Virginia to California in the spring of '73. We had a cassette tape of this record that we played over and over. It was the sound track to our epic adventure. I haven't heard this in 35 years or more. WOW! A blast from the past. Huh?
this is truly the quintessential ending of a song ever solely produced by anybody!!! it captures the essence, the heartbeat, and the soul and spirit of nyc at that moment in time!!
that beat Cobham busts out at the beginning is one of the greatest intros ever!!! I bought this album in used record store in KC and was very happy to find it! My dad used to have the 8-track!
I love this album. I have it now on CD. I still pull it out and listen to it after all these years. I also have their second album on CD. " Imagine My Surprise" This first one is my favorite. Both are available at amazon.
I am now 22. who am I?

I don't know- the horn section is a little weak. I think they should hire some seasoned Studio PROS........LOL

The bass player was a "lefty" Doug Lubhan who also played on some Doors records. He is a pretty incredible musician. Much under rated.
