i never even quit! there werent that many duelists around my town till high school and then my friend brought his cards and then i brought mine and people were getting theirs too.
You're complaining about YGO being broken while people are playing Marvel v. Capcom 3 in the background? Don't you think 1 is more busted than the other?
i started playing cause my lil brother got me back into it i quit for a good 4 years but still kept my at the time good deck when i came back and saw synchros it blew my mind lol its a very competitive game and thats why i like it, AND IT IS A CHILDRENS CARD GAME jsut because the majority of players are older doesnt change that fact, alchohol is suupose to be for ppl 21+ but everyones been drinking since before that doestn change the fact that alchohol is for older ppl DUMBASSES
I stopped back when the exodia necross boosters ended, and joined about a month back, MAN, Syncros are broken as hell, I feel like a old man who walks out to his front lawn to find these fast as fuck kids running around while me and my classic paced buddies look in confusion
You gotta think about it, if its a children's card game, then why do most kids that try playing the game dont know how to play at all, heck ive even played against older people who play like the characters in the show who constantly break rules -_-
i used ton play when i was younger and 1 day my friend told me that i should play nd that my old cards wouldnt stand a chance against the new cards lol i wanted to prove him wrong so i started playing again
truthfuly, the synchro's suck...i don't use them but when ppl summon shiz like stardust dragon i take it over with relinquwished :D bring 3rd geneation duleing back!!!
I quit yugioh about 9 years ago. But I decided on making a come back because I was surprised how far this game has gone and now I'm just trying to decide which type of deck to run. I'm thinking "legendary six" I just love samurais =]
I came back to the game because some of my friends reminded me how much I loved it, and I got so much more out of it then when I played as a kid. I'm winding down a little bit right now and just gettin' the odd cards here and there, but I think once my Dragunities are 100% Completely done, synchros and all, and it's to the absolute best construction of my abilities, I'll start hittin' up tourneys :)
People quit because it's just a completely unbalanced game. Some decks just completely dominate everything else, and it's not fair. They'll ban or limit cards that don't deserve it and then let cards that are 10 times worse be unlimited.
As been said multiple times, new shit. A lot of people I know quit 'cause it got boring, same builds over and over, or just got sick of it in general. It can feel like a new game once you've got an entirely new metagame to try and thrive in.
And maybe there's some sort of crazy psychological addiction to children's card games, who knows. GreatFailsMontana took a good shot at some sort of subconcious psyche influence to coming back to the game. Maybe somethin' like that, lol.
Yugioh is a metaphor for life. You attempt your best to make the best set of cards to get the best possible combinations. Just like a person prepares themselves in order to get the best possible life. Usually your playstyle mirrors your personality, as well as how you build decks mirror your decision making. Obviously this isn't a conscious reason, but I think it might be the cause.
Probably because it's a fun thing to do every now and then when you want to "geek" the fuck out. I don't play this every day but whenever I do it's for fun and not to be "pro." People who take it way seriously should get a reality check and stop spending all that unnecessary money on it, I know I spent a few and I regret it.
Quit so many times but just can't stay away. It's addictive as heroin. My brothers got back into it which got me back into it and I now continue to get friends back into it.
i quit around time after synchros came out and i started playing again recently because i want to make an epic come back with old school monsters......... its not looking good
I stopped playing when I started middle school, then got back when I started high school then I quit then I got back into it again and I'm still playing..
They are missing out on all the fun they used to have! With all the new cards lurking around, they get new ideas and come back. These people come back so they can learn more and know about what they've missed. They could teach us their old tricks and we can teach them new tricks. You never know, these people may become some of the Historical Duelists in the future!
I stopped playing right after high school, Now that I have a job and can afford more cards and boxes ect. Im back :D Its a pain learning everything new though >_>.
why former players come back? Well for us it was like this, i saw until this of yugioh: the duel between kaiba and joey at battle city finals, later i was sick n bored and i saw sum episodes and i was thinking im better than kaiba and joey, and then we started playing
i quit because my mom threw away all of my shit, including my binder. Then some friends got me to play magic the gathering for about a year. Found myself bitching about alot and say "this would be so much better if they did it like this, yugioh is so much better" I mean i like the game but you buy a shit ton of cards, then like the next year you cant use ANY of em. And only a few MIGHT get reprinted the year after that. Too much money to be spent. Just make a fucking banned list like yugioh!
I fucking hate the formats, in my opinion it ruins the game. When Yugioh first came out everything was freaking awesome, everyone I knew played it and it was fun. Then came the damn rules which took it, bent it over and butt fucked it over and over again. Origininality is limited and you must drop tons of money if you want to win or even enjoy the game, cause if you don't drop alot of money, you will lose against the people who do.
@Soroside couldn't say it better myself. i stopped playing the game but still have my deck O.O whats up with that? I guess i'm waiting till something good happens i think?
@Soroside so you want PoG at 3, Makyura at 3, Duo at 3, the Chaos at 3 and everything else stupidly broken at 3? then you'll be playing the same FTK decks over and over again, and YuGiOh would be a game of dice roll.
Sure, people will be able to make any kind of deck they want. Originality wouldn't be limited like it is now. It doesn't matter if they are limited or unbanned, cards like that will be used when they are useable because people don't have any creativity to make their own decks, they copy others.
@Soroside People will always play the FTK decks because they will win. That's why the banlist exists, to give all players a fair chance, instead of watching your opponent touch their cards for 10 minutes. I'll be happy to link you to a Makyura FTK deck or a Tele-Dad deck if you so wish to see first hand why the banlist exists
@Soroside not true. a friend of mine doesnt have expensive cards in his deck and he topped 8 at a local. he made his deck to where he can work around cards like duality and warning. basically just put in dark bribes and seven tools and you really wont have to worry about those expensive cards. good duelists can work with they have and still win. one time i lost to a crappy blackwing deck and i had better cards than he did but because he played smart he won
Have to admit there is way too much speed in stupid formats like now...hopefully, new priority ruling will make the game more balanced....no more stupid unbalanced 3-4 synchro players with dumb t.g librarian...
Because people have nothing better to do, people quit for X amount of time then come back because they have nothing to do. And yu-gi-oh is legal drugs.
I took a 5 year break from yugioh and had to relearn everything. I get it though. Cause I left when the game was still alot slower than now. Right I get pissed by all of the speed. In 1 turn some decks can synchro 3 big monsters and then hit you with nasty combos. It's retarded...six sam...
i came back bc as it turns out my Girlfriend plays it, so ya
