All those years I read comic books and saw TV shows, and Lois kept trying to prove Clark was Superman. Now he tells her right to her face, calm as hell, and she doesn't believe him!
Well lets think about this. Who would believe that Superman,this all powerful man of steel is actually some farmboy named Clark Kent who acts socially odd, is always happy, and its a really bent out of shape stuck up square whose voice sounds different and works at the planet? This is why his disguise works better in the movies, not only can you literally not see in relation but at the same time his hair is different, he holds himself differently and hes just not Superman.
DC animated series always had better writing and animation then Marvel did. I mean Spider-Man and X-Men were good shows just not as good as Batman and Superman.

The humour of this scene is really all down to tone of voice. Because Clark said he was Superman in a rapid, staccato way and in a sarcastic tone of voice, Lois didn't believe him. If he said it slower and stopped to look her in the eye once or twice, she'd come to realise that it all makes sense.
@bman45cal They've come up with a variety of explanations over the years but basically, Superman doesn't wear a mask, so they don't think that Superman has a secret identity, thus they have no real reason to suspect that Clark Kent is Superman. The reason for their lack of suspicion is either because traditionally Kent is so mild-mannered and awkward or because, in this and John Byrne's Superman, Clark Kent is such a complete person that it doesn't seem like he could simultaneously be Superman.

@MPieter88 In the live action movies it was understandable--his REAL disguise was the way he acted, the way he moved and talked. He acted like such a total schmuck that no one in their right mind would think he was Superman.
In TAS, however, there is no such depth to the disguise--he acts and talks the same whether in costume or in civilian garb.

The humour of this scene is really all down to tone of voice. Because Clark said he was Superman in a rapid, staccato way and in a sarcastic tone of voice, Lois didn't believe him. If he said it slower and stopped to look her in the eye once or twice, she'd come to realise that it all makes sense.

@bman45cal They've come up with a variety of explanations over the years but basically, Superman doesn't wear a mask, so they don't think that Superman has a secret identity, thus they have no real reason to suspect that Clark Kent is Superman. The reason for their lack of suspicion is either because traditionally Kent is so mild-mannered and awkward or because, in this and John Byrne's Superman, Clark Kent is such a complete person that it doesn't seem like he could simultaneously be Superman.
