Get over yourselves please. Your head dress, long hair and beards conflict with the Army standards. Why should the whole Army conform to you? If you can't change yourselves, why should we change ourselves? The reason for short hair is to allow for helmets, The reason for clean shaves is to allow for the wear of gas masks. Cant get a good seal with a beard, can you? Its not racism overly sensitive hypocrites. These standards are in place for a reason. Go join another Army if you dont like it.
Well the Army has conformed to the Sikh head dress not only in the US Army but in the British Army (for almost 300 years now), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canadian Forces, the New Zealand Constabulary, all regiments and divisions of the Indian Army - among various other distinguished military organizations all across the globe.
If the turban did not come in the way of being decorated with 15+ Victoria Crosses since 1761, I don't see any logic in your argument.
And for your information mikeylikey, the Sikhs wore gas masks in both World Wars (with perfect seals), and defended liberty by sacrificing 85000+ Sikh lives for the cause of freedom at Flanders, Ypres, La Bassée, Neuve Chapelle, Festubert, Loos, Givenchy, Somme, Burma, Malaya, Abyssinia, Persia, North Africa, Malta, Gallipoli, Monte Cassino - so why should we change now? Get over yourself.

There are Sikh doctors with a beard that get fitted for masks...and im not talking about your everyday masks...im talking about masks that you wear when you deal with biohazard materials...and the british army and indian army have accomadated with sikhs in terms of helmets and gas masks...what happened to equal opportunity
