Yet another forgotten gem among Darkthrone's mid era discography. Ravishing Grimness is a dark, mature, and beautiful example of top-notch black metal, though sadly this album is largely looked past.

Very beautiful. That's what I love about certain Burzum and Darkthrone-songs; they can have these beautiful subtexts and subtle melodies, without sounding wimpy or over the top. A less subtle example would be Broderskapets ring by Dimmu Borgir. I'm glad to see people appreciate that beauty exists amidst all this chaotic necrohell :)

If Im correct, Mayhem started the whole Black Metal genre. Darkthrone revolutionized it.

@runeblade806 nah dude mayhem came into this whole black metal stuff after the first wave of Black metal which consisted of bands like Venom,Celtic Frost,Hellhammer,Bathory and even Sodom their first EP was very influencial to many second wave black metal bands. You should check out those bands and see where the second wave scandinavian black metal got their inspiration from. hope this helped you a little bit.

No Panzerfaust is, but this one is their most underrated. I bought this cd a long time ago used for 2 dollars.

I think its cause they didnt really do much with the lyrics, but its a great album and song.

that's your opinion on not being the best, but if Ravishing Grimness isn't the best, than I agree that Panzerfaust is the best. That album is demonic!!!
