It took a while for me to start enjoying the game. The intro takes forever if you want to know the story line. I'm finally starting to enjoy it a little. It's different, and I like weird games like this. It was free on the psn, but I doubt I would ever have bought it.

@stbays No, 'retail' is a term used for games sold in stores ie: not downloadable.

I didn't know PvZ was retail. It is creative. Most games that I see people raving about on HD consoles look boring - FPS, some dude killing things etc. The huge budget needed to make these epic games forces devs to stick with what sells, which at the moment is these 'shoot everything that moves' games. I think that lower budgets fuel creativity, as devs can take a detour from the norm and produce creative games.

I think I'd probably agree the indie scene seems to have the most ability to get creative, I've found several games on the 360 to be fun. Heck, I'm very much looking forward to the next Deus Ex game. It looks like a return to form for the series, which should mean multiple ways to solve the game's many problems, which not only lets me play the way I like to play, but gives me an incentive to go back and replay the game after I beat it.

Let's consider it another way. First, to enjoy Black Ops and Killzone 3, you have to be a fan of the FPS genre. More specifically, a fan of the "Go to point A, kill everything, move on" portion of the FPS genre. That or love online modes in FPS games.

If you're not a fan of either of those or even, not a fan of FPS as a whole, then those games would be pretty low on your list of great games. Those people might find this more appealing.

Tim shaffer helped making it, the original idea came from one of the members from the development team. He wanted them to show their ideas to the world. They did the same thing with brutal legend and costume quest and even though tim shaffer is the original genius behind games like psychonauts, grim fandango and monkey island.. the individual that came up with this idea for stacking should be be praised for it. Not tim shaffer.
