Dead Moon has that distinctive "made for the TurboExpress" flavor with its slow pace & huge enemy bullets. Worse part is the title screen music (if you can call it that) : It strangely sounds like those pre-programmed beats that they put in those electronic keybords. You know, the beats that never starts & loop endlessly? Not the best from Natsume especially after playing Shadow of the Ninja on the NES...

nice review spida1 as always...i had this game way back then your review is pretty much spot on...you do some excellent reviews...i really dont play many games at my old age 36 like i use to...the moon stage(graphically) was pretty impressive for its day an seen pictures of that stage made me purchase the game...i think its worth a check if you shooter fan..

I remember this game being a little on the difficult side but, I don't recall it getting harder after losing and having to continue but, If that really is the case, I suppose that's why it took me a while to finish it.

I didn't notice some of the repetitive sounds until you pointed them out. You made a good point there.

I do like the graphics, music, the mix of technological and undead bosses as well as how you get to see the ship actually head to the next stage.

I give it a toes up!

I try really hard to be VERY detailed, stay consistent and have integrity in my opinions through and through. I pride myself on that. Only through respect for a reviewer can you truly formulate your own opinion...which, to me, is really my ultimate goal for the viewer. Does that make sense? Ha ha...I'm lost! Nice review. I think the highlight of this one was when you yelled "Stop it!" at the game. haha. Don't know why, but that hit the funny bone. lol

I still haven't picked Dead Moon up. Even back in the day this game flew under the radar for me. I guess it does have to do with just the sheer number of shooties out for the TG. Like you said in your review, by the TTI era there was some serious competition in the shootie arena on the TG. But that said, it looks better than what I expected.

I could take you reviewing bad games over AVGN any day. You tell why it's bad and point out aspects that are bad hilariously, yet is still listenable. I don't want to hear why a game is compared to an animal's fecal matter.

Anyway, Dead Moon is a pretty bad game and wouldn't be great even on the Genny. Good review though.

hey hey brilliant review Chris, great choice. I am always impressed by your ability to get to the last stages when reviewing these games, I get stuck on the moon level!! I love the parallax on this game, the weapons are great and the difficulty curve IMO is spot on. I was really glad I picked this one up and I rate it somewhere around between Override (better) and Final Blaster (worse).

Hehe, your review makes the game look better than it is. Each stage/boss looks great at a fast glance, but it's very static/repetitive in look/feel per stage. It's a shame really, as with a little better game design tweak/polish, this could have been a great game.

I never got the chance to pick this one up. You are right about the other shooters on the turbo duo. Gate of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, and other shooters kept me from ever giving Dead Moon a chance.

@MoreDakka101 I think that's my only problem with it, really. It just scrolls left to right and aside from enemies flying out at you and mini-bosses, there isn't too much "extra and unique" stuff. You know? I'm glad you got where I was going. Ha ha.
