monkey jam(free), rock band microphone(if you have one, it has usb connection and good quality), windows movie maker(free) or imovie(for macs, free i think), a camera(preferably logitech quickcam pro 9000), and buy baseplates off of ebay for cheaper prices.

adds up to only about $150.

@holygrail903 to do good you do need a mac, like mine, and try bonix i-stopmotion,you can even do a 7 day trial to try it out. then to edit the movie well and add music and audio try i-movie,wich i think is free. bonix i-stopmotion is $60 aussie dollars (noting that you r american lol) but i would highly recomend both! check out my channel it has some good stop-mo movies using both those programs!! :)

cool, and it seems like its better quality? and you download free stop motion stuff from the web, (at least, it works on my MAC) and you'll pobably get the other sets as time goes for the stop motion. sweet on the castle, but for the stop motion, dont use iMovie, (the version i have zooms in, my SM's look like slide shows, not what you want) and that sucks for your camera.

Hey if you make stop-motion make sure you do it the way where you take apic, move the minifig, take a pic, move the minifig,..... Not where you have a video camera and you press play then talk with the minifig in front of the camera, and then stop it and then do that again and again. The first one looks way better.
