  • OMG Chevy getting 1,000,000 sales? It's never done that! Those idiots...

  • Glad they destroyed the 59 Bel Air. Too many idiots think smaller, newer cars are not as safe as yesterday's cars. Now they are proven wrong.

  • @myphonyaccount

    You're an ass.

How many people do you actually know of who drive around in 1950's cars because they think they're safer? Anybody I ever met who has such a car is a collector who values it for artistic or nostalgic reasons, and might drive it only once or twice a year to a local car show.

  • @logik316 I have a 1961 Mercedes for all uses, travels, car rides, work, ect, and Mercedes mechanics said me I can feel safe because "modern" safety coachwork was invented by Mercedes en 1951... and very included since 1959 in all models. Some body believe more advances in steel have been made since 2000 than in the 100 years before. Experience of coachworkers and veteran mechanics say more advances on planned car obsolence have been made since 2000 than in the 100 years before, only for money.

  • @TheHeavynecker1

    It's a Mercedes-Benz.

    Enough said ;-)

  • Damn people used to die in these cars.

  • people dies in new car

  • less than 100 Bel Air in USA

  • I'd like to see how many 09 malibu's there will be in existence 50 years from now. my guess is none.

  • It's surprising how this bozo doesn't analyze the stunt with the '59 Chevy....He should have grilled the IIHS about the condition of the car (note the massive rust cloud billowing from the Belair) and asked for proof that the car's structure was sound!......Sensationalism trumps journalism again!

  • Go analyze all the road death statistics and photos from 50s car wrecks. These cars did fall apart like this in crashes, new or old. People died in these things not just because of lack of airbags, but because the body structures weren't designed well. On youtube search for Warm Leatherette and click the last one. It's got lots of gory, real 1950s accident scenes recorded live. You'll see how the cars were torn apart. Today's death rates are way down because of IIHS tests like this.

  • Agree. Check out the Signal 30 videos on You Tube fom 1959 and it will support what you've said. I thought the Heavy Chevy (1959) who crush the not-so-Heavy Chevy (Malibu). Iwas surprised. So if Julia Roberts (Malibu) and Eva Marie-Saint (Bel-Air) in an intersection, Juilia would walk away.

  • The rust came from cosmetic panels at 0:20 and the A pillar gave way first. Besides, it's an X frame chassis which was notoriously unsafe. That's why it collapsed. The rust was only superficial. Poor design is the cause.

  • That 59 Chevy being SLAUGHTERED is just AUTOMOTIVE GORE!!---((GORE I TELL YOU!!))

  • The answer to the Bel Air vs. Malibu: Lots and lots of tears. Bye beautiful classic :( . But wow, that is amazing!!

That's not fair for GM! How come hard working execs have to fly crappy commercial, and the liberal, lazy, fat ass and stupid politicians get to fly private jets? Grr, I hate socialism!

  • Not fair to GM? Let's see, white trash executive management gets drunk on yesterday's success and lets the ship run aground. Then they ask for bailout. You're damn right they need to fly coach! And if you don't like socialism, stop driving on government built roads (all of them) and stop using the government built sewers. Compost your feces. And don't fly because airports are paid for by the gov not "private business". Get a clue.
