Brian May: the wonderful, talented man who wrote this lovely song. My favourite Queen member with an amazing guitar and even better hair. To this day, he keeps Queen alive alongside Roger Taylor; both deserve to be knighted for all their efforts. Brian has written some of my favourite Queen songs (this, Long Away, Who Wants To Live Forever, Sweet Lady, the list goes on).
In celebration of Dr. May's achievements, I want to wish him a very happy 64th birthday today, and may God bless him.
I actually always thought of this as a ya know sleepytime serenade for my kids one day..............ahem I'm 42 now no children and I always actually thought of this as a sleepy time serenade for my kids
Death is a strange thing. You see those photos in a time where they didn't knew that Freddie would die in 91, a time when they were happy. Death is strange for everyone, they will never hear his voice again, never feel his happiness or see him smile. This feeling happens when I see Beatles too, a time when they were happy and they never saw that.
@Shepsekaf 'The choirs'? You do realise the backings in this song is just Brian's voice recorded with multiple harmonies? And all other Queen songs are purely them recording their voices multiple times with different harmonies. That's what separates Queen from everyone else. They are musical geniuses!
@ClassicRockTeen1995 For me the choirs means "the rear part of the vocals" clearly recorded by Queen. I was not talking about a Choir like "gospel choir".Thanks for your opinion. pd:not all other,my friend! at least in "let me live" we have some other people in the chorus.
@Shepsekaf Yes with the exception of 'Let Me Live' and 'Teo Torriatte' the backing is all Queen I think that's it. I might have missed some out but I was born in 1995 and am still yet to discover all of Queen's masterpieces. Feel free to correct me :)
Unfortunately, Brian was very, very ill during the period of time when Queen was working on Sheer Heart Attack, first with Hepatitis from an infected vaccination and then with an ulcer. Much of the album was worked on without him, and he was able to fill in bits of guitar and backing vocals whenever he felt up to it.
yeah that's right. i read somewhere that sometimes he was worried they might replace him? lol how?
i often wondered if he wrote this with this in mind? it seems a very emotional want to go to sleep and wake with no more sadness...must have been a shit of a time for the guy.....
but a beautiful song...I listened on headphones...Mercury felt like he was in my head, heart and soul....

Sweet lady is one of Queens worst songs..the lyrics are banal and it's completely devoid of a recognisable melody or tune.

anybody notice how Freddie liked to use the phrases "the wind must blow" or sayings similar to that?
maybe they have a central meaning even beyond that of the main meanings he had hidden in his songs....
anyways great song
