"Zoo" is the wrong word to use for this place. "Central park for animals" is a better phrase. BTW FantasticBabblings, beautiful video and music!

@JamesTKirkCobain There is a "zoo" in Central Park, though it is a bit of a stretch to call it that. It's rather small.Really more of an open air nonprofit pet store.

Ahh have been there twice and had enjoyed it alot. 1st time was in 1997 when I was in 3rd grade and the most recent time was in 2004 to take my baby cousin..really want to go again! :)

@DutchRodent Only if you go into the cages. A few years ago a trainer was mauled to death in the Tiger habitat, but she was a zoo employee and apparently violating protocol.

@DutchRodent Actually parts of the Bronx used to be really bad, but it is much improved now. When I go to the zoo I take and express bus from Manhattan and over the years I have seen improvement, but only out the window. It may be safe, but I wouldn't walk around much outside the zoo :)

That's awesome there. Where I was raised we've gone to Capron Park/Zoo in Attleboro, MA, Roger Williams Park/Zoo in R.I. and Buttonwood Park/Zoo in New Bedford, MA and the animals there have small cages, cement floors, rocks mostly, but this it looks like their own natural habitat. I like it, cool. It's like they're home, but get fed & they're not prey. Better that being out in the wild for them.

My wife and I came here a few weeks ago as part of our honeymoon, and we loved it. I only wished we had arrived at the zoo earlier to see everything, but we saw enough to fall in love with the place. The okapi was my fav.

@Poeboi They charge $16 for adults, general admission. It's a huge zoo and costs a lot to maintain. Considering other things in NY it's not a bad price.

@FantasticBabblings 16 dollars isn't too bad for New York now the Pittsburgh Zoo they charge about that but it must be hard work keeping all the animals fed and cleaned.

Yes I live in the Bronx not too far from the zoo. The Bronx zoo is better than the central park zoo, the Bronx zoo is bigger and has more exotic animals to see. Oh and by the way The Bronx is not really what people think it is (Bad). You might also want to walk around "Little Italy", "Yankee Stadium", "City Island", The Bronx has changed for the better over the years
