Difficult to compare the Beriev and the CL-415. They both do the same thing, but are better suited to specific situations.

The CL-415 can get into tighter spaces, but the Beriev can carry a heavier load. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Fanboyism will get us nowhere...

The Beriev is a beautiful plane and does a good job, but needs a longer run on the water and is very expensive to buy and operate compared to the CL 415.

There should be a fleet of these stationed somewhere n Australia for to combat the conflagrations there.Instead of farting around with water tankers,hoses and desperate firemen who often lose their lives doing their job.

@papapardal1 "Better", huh? That's a pretty relative term.

Regardless, the Bombardier 415 is unique in that it is the only purpose-built water-bomber that has achieved anything resembling commercial success internationally. The Beriev A-40 hasn't been touched since the only prototype was built 25 years ago, and the Beriev Be-200 has only been built in tiny numbers.
