I sang this in Second Grade, and now we're playing it in Honor Band, it's amazing how emotional it can get while playing this. I hope somehow we can sound this great.
I can remember this like it was yesterday, I was a freshman in the UDMB, and it was the hugest emotion I've ever felt in my life... just proves that something beautiful can come out of something so awful
what touches me, is the fact the band didnt really practice this song, or had it prepared, most of the members havnt even had time to memorize it yet, (notice the flip folders). Yey, it sounds beautiful nethertheless. GOD bless America.
The was simply the most profound moment in our lives. And may we NEVER be in the position to EVER have to experience it again. This performance was the first football game following 9/11/01. 'nuff said.
I can't believe I found this! It was probably one of the most amazing moments of my life, I'll never forget that day and how it felt! I was a freshman mello for UD and my lil sister was drum major from a local high school. It was so empowering and intense!
I was a sophomore in the UD trumpet line during this performance. This ranks among the best performances of my musical career. The 2 Best college bands on the east coast (UD and UMASS) and those high school band students was an incredible experience of sight and sound. There was not a dry eye on the field or in the stands. And can you hear the high G's double C's from the lead trumpets at the end? What an amazing performance, this is what America is all about.
I was there that day. I was a junior in high school.

I remember being a bit emotional (who wasn't at that time period?) and bawling during this whole thing.
I don't remember who won the football game though.

This gave me chills then, when I was on the field, and still does now.
