No it's not true. The presa was a dog to help with cattle, kill wild dog, be a guard dog... was created from dogs for cattle and those brought by spanirds when they were involved in the big conquista. The fights came much much later. It's said that wih english people commming to the islands. Were popular in XX century (beganing)... period that also made their history but it wasn't the main purpose. This was just one of other functions that this dog was helding

Presa was a fight dog for a period of time. It was created for different reasons and used in different functions than fight. Fights cam later and then almost gone. This was good dog for this but it wasn't the reason to creat a presa. Fight played a major role in developpment of presa in the past years (XX century, it's beganings) but it was not what made a presa. It had impact on what we have todday but dogs of the past wern't made for fights

In a short words no. As presa is a molosser and has different kind of drive and temperament. hey have different characters. The best would be to try on your own and visit some kennels and their dogs

Yes we are searching for natural abilities of our dogs and not for what they can be learned to do. This doesn't mean that dog has no obedience. But this dog is not learned how to protect.

I understand you but you don't understand the purpose of what we are doing. It's not about need to have a dog that is dengerous. Far from this. Nobody needs dengoerous dogs and I have better ways to protect myself. Thi is done to test abilities and natural indstincts. It's done under eye of profesionalists that know when to say STOP. Also the evaluation is made slowly and if the dog is not good enaugh than it can't go further.

It's not so that the dog is untrained. The dog is a family pet, my best friend and companion. All of my dogs live inside my house, without any crates etc. We go for long walks, to the cities, dog shows etc... all of this require socialisation and traning. The untrained is only for the protection training. It means that the dog do it because this are his geens, this is his instinct. Not because he was learned to bite.

My apologies. The way the video was worded, you took a two and a half year old dog who had no training whatsoever and had him biting people, albeit in a "controlled" situation. There have been problems here (us) with people who have these dogs, and they have no real training, and they attack with no way to call them off. So then every member of the breed is demonized.

Not really REAL WORLD SITUATIONS here. Would an attacker walk up and offer his arm to a dog before attempting to beat the owner, I think not. You need to come rushing at the person with your stick pretending to hit her and for that matter the dog to get a REAL WORLD reaction. All you are doing here is teaching the dog that if someone approaches that he does not know he is allowed to bite his/her arm. Not particularly useful IMO. Nice dog though.

Presa Canario was originally breed to protect caddle and protect the cowboy against young studs(young male caddle) If needed.

It's said that a open terrain atk.(on a human) from one of this caddlekillers is a 1/100 chance of survival.. BUT AGAIN PEOPLE, IT'S NOT THE DOG WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ATTACKS, IT IS THE OWNERS. Well trained dogs are muuch muuch more unlikely to atk no matter what breed, and training it is your job.
