Is Adsense even legit? I mean when ever I log in it goes from $25 to $10 to $15. It has a friggin mind of it's own and pays me whatever it wants. It's retarded
My clickthru ratio is 0.67% and I get 40,000 views on my site, but i still cant seem to make more than 1200 dollars per month, i'm sure i must be doing something wrong here.
When you mentioned in this video about the personal blog (blogging about my life), I can totally relate. I tried to promote a blog at one time about my personal life and it never made more than 10 page views a day.
So, I decided to close the blog because it wasn't helping me establish a "voice".

@robhoski Thx for this vid I used Pinnacle Studios and did not have an HD cam so the file size wasn't that big. But now I use my Mac and an HD cam and use Final Cut Express. I can still do a 10-min vid in HD and stay under the file size limit.

The way I understand it is in three parts like this: 1- A website is created to provide information or "content" valuable to the viewer and to provide a landing page for Google ads. 2- A blog allows for more currently updated info and drives the viewers back to your site (where you hope to make more ad sales conversions), 3-You tube videos help support the three part cycle of of driving viewers back to your web content?

Luckily I have 7 to 10 percent CTR, only 20 visitor per day and making around $1 a day. I ended up checking my earnings every other hour instead of focused on adding more contents and building traffic. I felt ashamed of myself. Good vid as always Lisa!
Great tips Lisa :) it is so true, traffic needs to come first and to get good traffic you need to think of your users first and not Adsense or any kind of affiliate program.

My Question: I'm using Adsense, but i feed the adsense code into another ad network I'm using, at the end of the day that network has little advertisers so Google ads are displayed most of the time... I'm making like $15-20 per month doing this ... Do you think if i directly display Google ads it will increase revenue somewhat ? more so noticeably ??
It's all about which one is more profitable for you. If the network is not making you much money because they have small amounts of advertisers, why not just run AdSense in that spot full time? The only way to know is to test it. ;)
wow, thanks for the super fast response... My main network delivers Caribbean only ads, which is a better target as my site is based in Jamaica, and in all Fairness i make like 50c a day from them and like $2.00 when they display ads on my site, i notice they do it from time to time, where I'll see their ads for 2-3days aggressively. Google is their to make sure i am always earning something :) .. but i do have a few Google only slots, but i think i will test for 1 month with Google only.

Lisa, I know that you made this video with the best intentions, but I think you're made a huge mistake when you said that it's better to let google only accept sites with 150+ visitors a day. That's pure nonsens. Doesn't matter what the reason is behind it. Everyone should be able to place adsense on their website. At that point, I rated two stars and stopped listening at your video. Sorry, but that was nonsense.
I love feedback, positive and negative so don't apologize. The reason I say that is based on all the emails I get. People join AdSense and haven't a clue as to how to get traffic. So they email me fretting over why they aren't making much money instead of writing useful content and learning marketing. If they already have more traffic when they join, they start making money faster and they would have taken the time to build a more useful site in the process. It's OK to disagree. :)
Lisa - I agree with you. I have had my blog up for 6 months and I don't feel I have enough traffic (about 200/day) for add sense - yet. Plus, I'm not sure how my readers would react... I am a bit concerned about that.
Ok, I understand you. It would be better if people who already have a good stream of traffic and already have a good amount of visitors would sign-up for Google Adsense. That way they can earn a good amount of money from Adsense which motivates them, instead of earning a few cents. But, for beginners it shouldn't be a strange idea to "play" a little bit with the program to learn how Adsense generates money. If they see the cents ticking by, they are more motivated to make it a serious business.
Well said thefunzonesite. Yes, I don't do MLM, only affiliate marketing so I don't tend to research these programs. I create content websites and teach people. Then I make money by recommending people to software and other products that relate to my site's theme.

For me, AdSense is my 4th money maker but I still make enough to live on that money alone. So it depends on your site, what you promote and how well your products convert. You will find it's different for every site.
lisa can you tell me why my adsense account was not aproved when i just started and did everthing to there approvel and they won't let me into adsense because i click on my links to make sure they work. i don't think that was fair!
they didnt approve you because you did click on your links. they have a tool within an adsense account to test links.
besides, there is no need to test links from your site. if you get a site view, this will show up as an impression in your adsense account.

if you write google an email stating that you understand not to click on your own links and to ouse their "tester" within your adsense account, they may just let you in.
Sorry but I think it is very fair. When I signed up with AdSense, I remember like 3 or 4 boxes I had to check saying that I will not click my ads under any circumstances. They warn you multiple times during the application process, so I'm not sure writing them is going to do you much good. Any time you click your own ads you cost people money so Google has to protect the advertisers from fraud. Just hope that they will invite you in at a later time. That's what happened to a friend of mine.
Im not Lisa, but it's pretty cut and dry. I have an Adsense account & they clearly make it known from the beginning that clicking your own ad is a HUGE no-no, they are not trying to pay us to advertise to ourselves. You either play fair with google or you pay the price that they fairly warn you of. Sorry that happened to you though, if you get back in, you will know better this time for sure.
I just wanted to say for several months I've been interested in the internet for a means of making money. The reason I've not really started is that I don't want to give the public something useless. Some might say this is a excuse to not get started. I really think that Lisa is right, it is totally useless to give the public content that is not of value.I guess I'm still in the studying stage of my internet niche.
Thats where I am at also, I would like to find a subject that holds my interest as well. I think it needs to be something that you are passionate about. If you grow bored with it so will the public. Good luck.
By the way, I like FRED a whole lot and have mad respect for him. He was able to tap into an audience that apparently was out there and brand the heck out of himself. And he's just a teen. Thanks again, Lisa! Simple facts: build content with a few ads worked in; promote, promote, promote; update, update, update. Hopefully while you're promoting a few people will notice and start promoting for you, which leaves you more time for updating. Eventually it falls into place. We're still building some of ours, promoting and re-building others, but traffic IS picking up thanks to the luck of being in the right place at the right time with one of our sites. Phew!
well i had adsense for 2 weeks then they disabled me, i was making about 2-8 dollars a day. i was happy then they just stopped me. i was on myspace, facebook, twitter and at my job spreading the word and now i look dumb because it is no longer there. i tried an appeal and nothing yet... what can i do now i need your help

Lisa, what do you do when the ads that Adsense deems appropriate for your site aren't really that helpful? I run a website about the box office, and I report on how much money movies are making in theaters. However, Adsense sees all the "box office" keywords and it puts up ads that are selling box office ticketing software. Unless my readers each own a movie theater, this isn't helpful to them! I don't really know what to do, then.
"google does not discolose what the click-through ratio is" but they do warn you, when you sign up, not to click your ads, which, any smart person, would figure out why...
I found FREDs site searching for some other thing. I cant even remember what I had been looking for. I thought Fred was funny. I didnt subscribe to his though, I had forgot about Fred. Strange you talked about him. LOL
However, if you are going to be an expert, I would recommend you endorsing books on creating quality content vs. keep saying you need "quality content". Remember your base and readership, you made it, there are still people working to get near your level. Also, you spent 20min. talking and you never once mention the word "Brand Marketing" which is something that you have developed for yourself. Quality Content does not solidify your brand it is the way you present that content.
Totally agree that my overall success has come from me learning how to brand myself. But this video is for newbies getting started with AdSense and I was addressing the fact that most people start off on the wrong foot. So if your bottom line/foundation (which is content) is terrible, no point in trying to establish a brand. Before I even grasped the concept of branding, I had content. That's where it all began and if you don't at LEAST have quality content, no point in going further.
Lisa i believe you care about the people that come to you for help to make in the online community. The way you keep it genuine in your tone, expressions and the CONTENT you share. I have several people I subscribe to on youtube and I patiently wait to see an upload from you. I know when you upload a video it will be filled with value. Keep doing what you do and some of us do hear and understand what you share...
I wanted to know if you ever had any problems with adsense ads disappearing and reappearing at random. I'm pretty sure this would be a problem for people for people trying to make money since psa's don't. make money. I have been having this problem and wanted to know what you think.

You've rightly phrased adsense : "this is a business of content".

@a4sure hi i am new to this 2 but what i know is that the trafic wont click every day on your ads some times you have luck they click 10 times and some day you have 1 click ,and the ads you have do have prices when some 1 click 1 ad it is 1 $ and another 1 is 0,25$ when they click on it.

I have a question and no one has been able to answer this. I get revenue from 1 of my YouTube videos, through AdSense ads, like everyone else,but what doesn't make sense to me is one day I make 18$ the next 3 days I make consistently 2 cents and then one day I earn $5. I don't understand why this is happening, because I receive the same amount of traffic and clicks each day.Any advice is appreciated!

@robhoski Thx for this vid I used Pinnacle Studios and did not have an HD cam so the file size wasn't that big. But now I use my Mac and an HD cam and use Final Cut Express. I can still do a 10-min vid in HD and stay under the file size limit.

The way I understand it is in three parts like this: 1- A website is created to provide information or "content" valuable to the viewer and to provide a landing page for Google ads. 2- A blog allows for more currently updated info and drives the viewers back to your site (where you hope to make more ad sales conversions), 3-You tube videos help support the three part cycle of of driving viewers back to your web content?

What I heard is to be successful you need to follow the model of having a website first, promoting it and then start a blog to drive interest to your PASSION subject or your website. or take voice lessons until you have a unique voice and spit out videos on youtube, lol

Luckily I have 7 to 10 percent CTR, only 20 visitor per day and making around $1 a day. I ended up checking my earnings every other hour instead of focused on adding more contents and building traffic. I felt ashamed of myself. Good vid as always Lisa!

Great tips Lisa :) it is so true, traffic needs to come first and to get good traffic you need to think of your users first and not Adsense or any kind of affiliate program.

Hey Lisa, i have a question that has been on my mind for some time now, i watch all your vids in and out ...
My Question: I'm using Adsense, but i feed the adsense code into another ad network I'm using, at the end of the day that network has little advertisers so Google ads are displayed most of the time... I'm making like $15-20 per month doing this ... Do you think if i directly display Google ads it will increase revenue somewhat ? more so noticeably ??

It's all about which one is more profitable for you. If the network is not making you much money because they have small amounts of advertisers, why not just run AdSense in that spot full time? The only way to know is to test it. ;)

wow, thanks for the super fast response... My main network delivers Caribbean only ads, which is a better target as my site is based in Jamaica, and in all Fairness i make like 50c a day from them and like $2.00 when they display ads on my site, i notice they do it from time to time, where I'll see their ads for 2-3days aggressively. Google is their to make sure i am always earning something :) .. but i do have a few Google only slots, but i think i will test for 1 month with Google only.

Lisa, I know that you made this video with the best intentions, but I think you're made a huge mistake when you said that it's better to let google only accept sites with 150+ visitors a day. That's pure nonsens. Doesn't matter what the reason is behind it. Everyone should be able to place adsense on their website. At that point, I rated two stars and stopped listening at your video. Sorry, but that was nonsense.

I love feedback, positive and negative so don't apologize. The reason I say that is based on all the emails I get. People join AdSense and haven't a clue as to how to get traffic. So they email me fretting over why they aren't making much money instead of writing useful content and learning marketing. If they already have more traffic when they join, they start making money faster and they would have taken the time to build a more useful site in the process. It's OK to disagree. :)

Lisa - I agree with you. I have had my blog up for 6 months and I don't feel I have enough traffic (about 200/day) for add sense - yet. Plus, I'm not sure how my readers would react... I am a bit concerned about that.

Ok, I understand you. It would be better if people who already have a good stream of traffic and already have a good amount of visitors would sign-up for Google Adsense. That way they can earn a good amount of money from Adsense which motivates them, instead of earning a few cents. But, for beginners it shouldn't be a strange idea to "play" a little bit with the program to learn how Adsense generates money. If they see the cents ticking by, they are more motivated to make it a serious business.

Well said thefunzonesite. Yes, I don't do MLM, only affiliate marketing so I don't tend to research these programs. I create content websites and teach people. Then I make money by recommending people to software and other products that relate to my site's theme.

For me, AdSense is my 4th money maker but I still make enough to live on that money alone. So it depends on your site, what you promote and how well your products convert. You will find it's different for every site.

lisa can you tell me why my adsense account was not aproved when i just started and did everthing to there approvel and they won't let me into adsense because i click on my links to make sure they work. i don't think that was fair!

they didnt approve you because you did click on your links. they have a tool within an adsense account to test links.
besides, there is no need to test links from your site. if you get a site view, this will show up as an impression in your adsense account.

if you write google an email stating that you understand not to click on your own links and to ouse their "tester" within your adsense account, they may just let you in.

Sorry but I think it is very fair. When I signed up with AdSense, I remember like 3 or 4 boxes I had to check saying that I will not click my ads under any circumstances. They warn you multiple times during the application process, so I'm not sure writing them is going to do you much good. Any time you click your own ads you cost people money so Google has to protect the advertisers from fraud. Just hope that they will invite you in at a later time. That's what happened to a friend of mine.

Im not Lisa, but it's pretty cut and dry. I have an Adsense account & they clearly make it known from the beginning that clicking your own ad is a HUGE no-no, they are not trying to pay us to advertise to ourselves. You either play fair with google or you pay the price that they fairly warn you of. Sorry that happened to you though, if you get back in, you will know better this time for sure.

I just wanted to say for several months I've been interested in the internet for a means of making money. The reason I've not really started is that I don't want to give the public something useless. Some might say this is a excuse to not get started. I really think that Lisa is right, it is totally useless to give the public content that is not of value.I guess I'm still in the studying stage of my internet niche.

By the way, I like FRED a whole lot and have mad respect for him. He was able to tap into an audience that apparently was out there and brand the heck out of himself. And he's just a teen. My little daughter loves him. Yet, he's doing nothing any different from folks such as Howie Mandell, Jonathan Winters, Lily Tomlin, and others in the entertainment industry. So I would tell folks to love or hate him all you want... but you've gotta respect the game!

I got a idea for youtube video.
Next time someone sez to you "Why I am not making money in adsense?"
Ask them for their permission to make a youtube video examining their web site.
Point out what they are doing wrong and right and don't hold back any punches.
I think this is maybe why your not getting thru to some of these peoples thick skulls.
They need to see examples of what not to do instead of being told what not to do.

Thanks again, Lisa! Simple facts: build content with a few ads worked in; promote, promote, promote; update, update, update. Hopefully while you're promoting a few people will notice and start promoting for you, which leaves you more time for updating. Eventually it falls into place. We're still building some of ours, promoting and re-building others, but traffic IS picking up thanks to the luck of being in the right place at the right time with one of our sites. Phew!

well i had adsense for 2 weeks then they disabled me, i was making about 2-8 dollars a day. i was happy then they just stopped me. i was on myspace, facebook, twitter and at my job spreading the word and now i look dumb because it is no longer there. i tried an appeal and nothing yet... what can i do now i need your help

I think this will increase the amount of revenue, because you gain new advertisers that didn't use google adsense.

Lisa, what do you do when the ads that Adsense deems appropriate for your site aren't really that helpful? I run a website about the box office, and I report on how much money movies are making in theaters. However, Adsense sees all the "box office" keywords and it puts up ads that are selling box office ticketing software. Unless my readers each own a movie theater, this isn't helpful to them! I don't really know what to do, then.

Hi Lisa,
However, if you are going to be an expert, I would recommend you endorsing books on creating quality content vs. keep saying you need "quality content". Remember your base and readership, you made it, there are still people working to get near your level. Also, you spent 20min. talking and you never once mention the word "Brand Marketing" which is something that you have developed for yourself. Quality Content does not solidify your brand it is the way you present that content.

Totally agree that my overall success has come from me learning how to brand myself. But this video is for newbies getting started with AdSense and I was addressing the fact that most people start off on the wrong foot. So if your bottom line/foundation (which is content) is terrible, no point in trying to establish a brand. Before I even grasped the concept of branding, I had content. That's where it all began and if you don't at LEAST have quality content, no point in going further.
