  • lol its funny how they're celebrating even though its nothing compared to the french and the japanese

  • France and England are both great countries...I would live no where else...no need to argue! No other countries in the world have accomplished what eurostar have done! Be proud!

  • 208mph is amazing on a Eurostar Train much better driving a Mclaren LM 05 GT F1 at the same speed..

  • Second that, I'm sick of the whole airport experience. We took the Eurostar over to Paris two months ago and it was a wonderful experience.

  • yes I agree 200 mph is more than enough speed to beat the inconvience of getting to and from an airport and shonkily looked after cheap flights

  • its great and all that, but im not keen on them. i mean they are fine as i have went on one a couple of times but na not for me.

  • nice horns

  • Its ok saying that France did 320mph but it was not a full length passenger set loaded to the hilt. Lets see them achieve that with a full load out of paris gare du nord in the peak with a full length set.

  • Lol! who'd a thought a video about a train would spark international debates on 'my country is better than your country', haha! seriously bring back the mallard :P

  • I agree! Give me my bicycle any day!

  • So desu yo! Hai!

  • Screw Eurostar we need to start upgrading our mainlines to the North and East and West coast lines, truely pathetic at the moment compared to other countries considering we were the country that invented the Steam Locomotive which started it all off, Rail fairs in britain are the most expensive in europe and for what services that are never on time slow compared to most other European countries and badly managed.

  • The U.S. isn't much better, though perhaps we have an excuse. Our populations are concentrated in a few areas that could use high-speed rail ("Boswash", Chicago-Detroit-Cleveland-Pittsburgh, California). Unfortunately, to get money for high-speed rail in those corridors would require support from other parts of the country, which is easier said than done.

  • This is all very good news. I hope that they open more high speed lines across Britain, and use the Class 395 'Javelin' units.

  • UK speed rail record?

Eurostar is made in France, isn`t it?

I didnt know Britain has high speed rail technology.

  • no, its made by alstom,

and oh, what has france ever done for us,

    and dont say concorde

  • alstom is French!

eurostar is a tgv with a different look and less large because of your stupid station

  • it looks fantastic tbh,

    what else have you invented,

apart from a fast train or your shitty cheese, or pretentious wine.....

have france ever fought in a war by any chance....miseur fuckface

  • i think that you need help for your train..it is a shame when first time i saw what sort of train have one of the first nation in the world lol

  • without the british, there wouldnt be any trains,

and besides, we wish to spend our money on more important things,

we use a shitty train to get into a shitty country

  • we will see with the price of oil in the futur witch country is shitty my dear without good train...

  • yeh oh well, we have plenty of electric trains class 390 pendolino class 220 voyager class 321 class 350 class 373 class 313 class 90 class 225 class 91 nearly all our trains are run by electricity, the others deisel and well, deisel is a cheap subsidary of oil. and don't call me dear u fuckin homo, then again, all u frenchies are gay
  • there is only some good train not late and confortable in uk = Virgin train!! and u know what? made by alstom!!!! lol

i think english are less male than french! tks

  • yeh, weve won wars unlike you, and fought in wars unlike you,

how does that make you a man

  • you won nothing just stay in place because you are the dog of the usa...they help you! be aware!!

  • we were in ww2 2 years b4 them,

and you werent even in it

  • Lol, a big part of london electricity is from french Nuclear central. So who is the gay now? lol

  • what if there is a meltdown,

    then u'll be fucked

  • it can happen, since 1st generation of Nuclear reactor many things have change, we have 3rd generation and we are developing 4th generation.

  • it can t happen, since 1st generation of Nuclear reactor many things have change, we have 3rd generation and we are developing 4th generation.

  • use your money to rebuilt London! what a shame to built an horrible building near an historical place!!

  • and you except your fucking tea and the stupid idea to drive on the left?

  • yeh, um isnt the arch de triomphe roundabout the most dangerous stretch of road in the world,

and does arch de triomphe mean arch of triumph

coz im sure that the french have triumphed in nothing

  • Well, because you re ignorant, i m sure you dnt know Louis XIV or Napoleon, make some research you ll be less stupid and ignorant.

  • You re becoming pathetic, you re just jealous that UK don t have serious good technology like France, we re 1st in civilian nucear technology, 1st in high speed train, the 3rd space program, and 1st with ariane who is a french project and who is financed at 60% by french. So stop you re becoming boring HAHA.

  • cool

  • You can be in French cities quicker than other English cities from London with Eurostar. Why cant we go from Southern England to Scotland at 200mph? It's a disgrace! German railways are the best.

  • Maybe becuase the stations have to be 100 mles apart to sustain that sort of speed, you cant go at 200mph the stop at a station every 20 miles. And also i think French trains are better than german.

  • I think german trains are much more luxurious than french trains, french trains look old and feel old.

  • dont speack about what you don t know..have you seen your train in Australia lol

yes the eurostar have 15years old but see the last tgv generation !

  • yes, i know how crap our trains are, but hey, i wasn't talking about them. And as a matter of fact i DO know what I'm talking bout. I have been on trips to Europe several times and i have ridden both the ICE and the TGV and i would have to say the ICE is far more luxurious and is in front of todays ordinary technology. TGV looks and feels old, maybe the new one is better, i don't know but I would still take the ICE because I am guaranteed a safe, fast and smooth ride.

  • compare what you can compare!

the last ice must be compare to the AGV!

just look at the first ice'1988) compare to the first tgv(1980)this last is far much better than the german:

and sêak when you will have good train too in your country lol

  • So just wait for the new AGV of 2009, 360Km/h on every line, and more confortable.

  • So just wait for the new Transrapid train in Germany. 400 km/h on every line.

  • We can wait a long time, in China they build a 30KM track but they ll dont build another track, there is some problems. This is a good technology but not for now.

  • being that your from scotland makes it understandable

  • Shows just how much you know :D I went from London to Paris over the fully opened CTRL now, 2hr15mins city centre to city centre - I'd like to see any airline beat that! The trains were full as well, proving my point :D

  • sudently a smile on my face, ooppss, pardon my french ;)

  • Sucks that the U.S. doesn't have this kind of rail transport.

  • There is only one MISTAKE:

At 2:35, they show a THALYS train which did not break the speed record in 1990. That was a blue/silver TGV which peaked 380 km/h.

  • Our trains, train tracks and train stations are terrible. Its the one thing France does well and I think they should come here and teach us a lesson. Move on from Thomas The Tank Engine, its over! Its time for François The Fast Train.

  • Ive always been fascinated by european trains over US ones. cooler and they travel faster than 79 mph.

  • People like hullyeti make me laugh they dont like immigrants so what do they want to do? emmigrate!

  • Give him some slack, at least its to a British Colony, which is where they all came from in the first place.

  • It just means immigrants can get to Britain faster, which means Britain will go down hill faster!!!

Fuck it, im off to OZ

  • I like your thinking, OZ are currently recruiting IT staff from the UK so its pack pack pack go go go!!!!

  • Your not wrong

  • Amazing how stupid some people can be. Everyone in Australia is an immigrant lol

Tell me, why don't people want to emigrate to nations like Zimbabwe?

Wasting my time, seriously doubt Hull can understand a word i've written.

  • Australians are nothing like the immigrants we get in the UK, they are normal civilised people, not free loading rejects from easter eouropean countries wanting free houses and cars and pushing crime rates up. Australia has the right idea on immigration, if you have nothing to offer then you cant get in, ie a decent trade or skill, so yes.... i do understand your pathetic responce to my comment.

  • So where did all the fucking aborignes come from then eh? They're natives are they not?

  • great video, thanks

  • GO US, wooooo

  • Well Done Eurostar

  • the German ICE still beats this

  • Well, almost - on dedicated tracks it's very impressive, but try riding an ICE3 from Cologne to Brussels, like I did last week. 250kph for about twenty minutes, then it crawls over terrible track with a godawful ride. The CTRL is a brilliant achievement.

  • Lol English trains are fucking slow.

  • slow but with lot's of charm

  • nice comment!

  • embarrassing having what is a french train holding the British rail speed record

  • not as embarassing as the biggest bridge in france which the french president was so pleased about...

it was designed by a british engineer.

    from top gear

  • Hey you want embarassing, try my home country's (Canada) VIA rail system. Our busiest corridor between Montreal and Toronto relies on 26 year old coaches and the trans continental only runs three times a week and relies on coaches built in 1954!

  • Oh it's fucking pitiful! We could have a super high speed link from Quebec City to London/Waterloo.... but its not going to happen with this Government. The only political party to broach this subject up to now has been the Green Party!

  • That bridge was French through and through. One of the architects just happens to be British... try not to rely on top gear for your information

  • Not quite. Lots of equipment on Eurostar, including the motors, was British-designed. It may be based on the TGV, but a lot of the kit was built in Britain.

  • The door motors, you mean? :P

  • yes just the design for the engine and tecnology it is only french tgv tech

  • i like watching the news wen i can be botherd
