I can't believe this was 21 years ago ! I was at the front (stood just in front of Martin). I remember the AWFUL support act and the poor cameraman on the rostrum at the front who just got swept to the back of the crowd once VOTB came on.
I saw VOTB something like 20 times in their heyday, sometimes sharing a drink with them, and in 1 case having a dance with Missy after their gig in Coventry (to Stand by REM)
They were always pleased to see us at any of their gigs.
very cool. Saw them in Chicago they actually opened for someone and crowd wasn't into them (we were). the bass and guitar player came into crowd after the show and they seemed really shy. they ran off after we said they did a great job it was sort of funny actually since they ended up by us. great show brings back memories of a fun night 20 some odd years ago
This is awesome. VOTB before the record industry choked the life out of them. This energy and verve was just amazing. Such a great, great band. Thanks so much for posting it.
I was all set to see VOTB live in the winter of 1989 in Virginia Beach, but it snowed that night. We got half an inch, and everything shut down in the region! Concert was cancelled! a few years later, after "monsters and Angels", they were supposed to be part of a showcase at our local Stae Fair, and they pulled out of the tour. I had to pull teeth at the ticket office to get a refund that night, explaining they were the only band on the bill I had any interest in seeing.
I haven't heard this band for years. I used to have this concert on video but lost it now. And I was there somewhere near the front that night. Was it really 21 years ago? Am I that old!
Super band. I still love their album Let It Bee

I was at this gig, just finished my A levels at the time. It was a great gig, used to love seeing them whenever they came to London.
