I don't know very much about the US media. But I do know that they typically focus on domestic American issues, as compared to European newspapers. If publishing "Real News" at the least meant widening that scope, an obsession with the Middle East would seem a bit unbalanced. I don't know very much about the US media. But I do know that they typically focus on domestic American issues, as compared to European newspapers. If publishing "Real News" at the least meant widening that scope, an obsession with the Middle East would seem a bit unbalanced. True, we don't know about their ressources: they can't cover everything. But by my standards, this obsession with Israel is a bit suspicious. They certainly concentrate on this much more than AlJazeera does.

@langengro well we the US tax payers give israel around 2.8-3billion dollars a year in military aide to israel, that isn't counting nonmilitary aide. on average israel is given about 50% of all US aide allocated to the middle east(we give money to israel,egypt,jordan). mainstream american news constantly covers israel(tho it doesn't often mention the stagering amount of money we simply give them).
the middle east is a vital american business asset as is hence covered by our national defense.

The downside for Hezbollah is that Israel will not commit weapons to defeat Hezbollah which Israel knows to be vulnerable to Hezbollah's tactics and capabilities. This leaves Israel in the positon--as described by Carl von Clausewitz--that Israel will have no option but deploy its most destructive weapons, irrespective of how that will impact the civilians of Lebanon. To not use decisive and devastating force in order to save lives, especially Israeli lives, is immoral. This is why the US failed to achieve victory in Vietnam and has failed to achieve victory in the middle east and central Asia. Hashemi Rafsanjani said that 15-million Iranian casualties would be a fair price for Islam to pay, as retaliation for a preemptive nuclear strike on Israel, which would also kill many Israeli Arabs and Pale3stinians, who would instantly become martyrs.

No war of any consequence is without some degree of devastation and/or the use of contentious weaponry.
