Anyone knows why would the emulator perform really slow? I tried many virtual devices and different setups, the android OS seems very very slow in the emulator.
I havestarted several times the emulator, waiting for just a friendly message warning about the time that it takes to get on and got just that boring ANDROID_ string. It made me restart the emulator several times! Why don't google just put another warning, wherever, telling about something like "wait, loading the emulator".

@maximos154 You're going to need to download a program called Eclipse (no link on that Android site) and a plugin for the program called ADT (check the instructions on the android download page). You need Eclipse and that plugin installed before you can install Android (again, check the directions, they should help). It's a little tricky. Good luck.
@maximos154 I got it from one of Google's websites. To go to the site I got it from, search "Google Android download." It will be the first search result and will be titled "Android SDK | Android Developers" I'm pretty sure the way it runs has changed since I've last used it.

If I develop an app that works well on the emulator, will it work the same way in real G1 ?

It should, but I'm not a developer so I can't be sure.
