  • I think it is safe to say whoever thought the Lynx came out in 89 wasn't alive then. The gamer magazines would have been all over it. Instead, they were GaGa over Genesis and Turbo CD. *feels all nostalgic now*.

  • My parents bought me a Game Gear when I was little. I was upset I didn't get a Game Boy, but now looking back, I'm thankful I didn't get a Lynx. .-.

  • bill gates thought so

  • for a second I thought he was gonna flip his dick out and compare the sizes LOL :)

  • hahah thats what she said

  • haha lol i love this guy no homo

  • 0:52

Playstation Portable or pretty small penis?

  • did you have a boner

  • I have one, was amazing an machine for its time.

  • People in the mid 90s are complete idiots, what a fuckin twat ! XboxTwaT

  • We never had problem changing games, its 22 years old. Older than you, show it some love, Jesus.

  • Not weired at all, genius idea to flip you dick !

  • 1990 you twat, do your homework !

  • @charlton46 Do your homework! It was 1989!

  • I can't help but wonder who would look for this video and not care about gameplay...

  • shows what you know .. Me and 15 of my friends would always play this together.

  • @123doomdoom U are an idiot if after the 1st time the 6 batteries went dead and u bought more. Mine died 1 time and I (a kid at the time) decided 2 get the adapter and never get suckered out of battery money again while trying to beat Aladdin, Sonic or MKII.

  • I just smoked a bowl and think I figured out what happened to Nintendo! We've got a 'Weekend at Bernie's" situation here. Nintendo died about 4 years, but they're trying to pass him off as still alive. Propping him up, slapping on some 3d shades, and cleaning up his old ragged clothes with the virtual console. I guess it's working, nobody seems to notice.

  • ...Speaking of "good games make good consoles": WTF Nintendo!? I just got I 3DS for my b-day (best GF in the world! -3), and I got the only 2 games I care about so far, and they're 64 games that are almost 15 years old!! I also bought Mario Land on VC, still one of my favorite portable games of all time, and a launch title for GameBoy. So, one of the only fun things Nintendo offers for your new eye-popping, 3D, motion sensing, net connected, reality bending console? A pixilated, gray Mario. She

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky Dude,You thought it came out in 94 and it still seems ahead of it's time, eh? It came out in 1989, the same year as gameboy! Good games make good systems, not power/features. Btw, who the hell thought that whacky flip feature was necessary? That's like thinking a left-handed person would have to drive a car with the wheel on the other side!

  • dude, thats a fuckin Dope MGS shirt! :D

  • Dude I want your shirt!

  • Great video! I love vids about the lynx, so its great to see some more :)

  • 1: Slappably huge!

    2: Tariwuz

3: He's sucking you out of existance.

    4: GameStopna

5: TIA (it's the main chip in an Atrai 2600)

    8: UCK!

Really nice review. (yes, I watched the whole thing). Enjoy your Lynx!

Note: Try flra markets and thrift stores. You can get these for around $5.

  • I owned 2 of these in my lifetime. I had this version and the later version which was smaller in length but thicker.

I also had that game and a viking game as well.

I couldn't understand at the time why gameboy was so popular when it wasn't even in colour.

I loved computer games and I still love them now.

(90's people were idiots, take that as the truth from someone born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's and who is a bit of an idiot).

  • that was monstrous

  • Ahahah)After that PSP is a really portable console)

  • How did you spend?

  • This reminds me of the VITA.

  • your gay

  • :43 The same people who decided to make the ET video game for the 2600.

  • I miss these old reviews were you don't see your face. Like IGSRJ

  • 1989

  • This thing was basically everything the gameboy wasn't.

  • Badass shirt.

  • 1989

  • GAME GEAR A MISTAKE!?!?!? i dont think so. that thing was godly.

  • @ShimmyDigg game gear is shit....the battery life was shit, sound was OK, but the screen was bigger shit. makes you eyes red.

  • Does this guy sound like Neil Goldman from Family Guy? or is it just me?

  • Ah yes, the Lynx. I had a younger cousin whose parents spoiled him and they bought him a Lynx. I remember being jazzed because it was in color, unlike Gameboy. I played some generic game and was bored within about an hour. Atari really could not get its head out of its ass when it came to putting out new systems. Poorly run company from a product strategy standpoint.

  • atari didn't make these they just bought em off epyx i think..loads of arguments about this vs gameboy..lynx was like having a snes but with a tiny screen..gameboy was better designed for portable gaming defo.

i just got a 3ds and hardly used it in comparison with my ipod. sony vista is another example of a small, compact and powerful console that is a great "handheld" but not nesescarilly great to take on the bus in your pocket for a five min blast.i don't like being mugged for starters!

  • pretty sure this mutha came out at a similar time to the gameboy in around 89 but most people remember the re-design. wish some peeps would get into some chip tune stuff with this beasty..the sound is aggro as fuck(goes off to look around and find vids of 50 piece lynx orchestras and realises i am totally not with it)

  • I'm left handed and I play a gameboy the right handed way and comterble with it

  • Love mine!! got it in '94 mines's the Lynx 2

  • Love mine!! got it in '94

  • 1994? way off

  • The first PSP was pretty heavy when it came out. The Lynx was only slightly heavier (but still ungodly unwieldy).

  • Love the video. I still have mine in storage with every game that came out for it. Bought it the first week it was released. Surprising when I pull it out how many kids have never heard of it. Still one cool machine for something that revolutionized gaming in the 80s.

  • holy shit i didnt know inspector gadget gave console reviews

  • @XxELECTROxX562 He's always on Duty.

  • 1st generation of portable game........

  • thats a beast ass solid snake shirt whered u get it

  • @Nesplayer101 Well, that's exactly how I thought you meant it. Assuming that other people have mutual close-mindedness, I thought it would be viable to simply delete my comment. Thanks for your consideration, enjoy your Easter.

  • @Nesplayer101

Why would I do that? if I had read every comment on youtube and had seen a similar comment, I would never have posted it. Thanks for your concern. I'll remove it now.

  • play 0:00 to 0:03

  • Comment removed

  • 1987

  • fuujjjj

  • holy crap, batman!! haha

  • hahaha you're a fucking cocksucking niggerfaggot

  • @caesiume jeez

  • @caesiume whats wrong with the world is racist people like you

  • The flip is so you can play lengthways not upsidedown

  • I own a Lynx II, and this is the first time I've seen a review of the first Lynx. I had no idea the game slot was on the side on the first Lynx. The 1st gen games were simple cards, but the later games had a lip on the edge, making them much easier to remove.

  • You sound like inspector gadget

  • Your voice is ear rape

  • @cncsmarty

Maybe you have the speakers on full volume.

  • When he stood up I was thinking "oh no, he's gonna compare it to his dick"

  • @tompaste

    They're about the same size...

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky Where did you get that shirt? It's awesome. :)

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky yeah if we do a 100x zoom...at ur dick

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky Haha...good one man, I enjoy your videos.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky Ahhahahaha

  • muhaha...

  • nice as weapon to kill pit bull

  • Can I buy the lynx off you? I'll give you $30-$50 bucks for it.

  • the lynx 2 the redesign model loads the cartridges on the back and there easier to take out and insert

  • great review. a lot of good facts about the console. but you said that the lynx sold very bad.

dats wrong. infact, it almost sold as good as the psp did

  • @HerrGubba The Lynx sold about 5 million units compared with about 67.8 million for the PSP. For more comparison the Game Gear sold 11 million and the Game Boy sold 118.6 million. But in the UK the Lynx did manage to outsell the Game Gear.

  • I dont understand when people slate things like this for being too big?

This was in a day when the technology couldnt make it any smaller! I remember being a kid and thinking how amazing and small it was.

In 20 yrs im sure people will look back at the DS and laugh at the size of it.

  • You should cut your fingernails. You most likely harbor harmful yeast and bacteria under them bad boys.

  • nice review kid but u should know your facts this is the atari lynx "1" system there were 2 models this model came out in 1989 not 1994 so its way ahead of its time

  • I love mine and do play it often.

  • You're right. It was really ahead of it's time.

I own a Lynx in mint condition.. 36 gamesin original boxes etc. also in mint condition.

  • IT was the FIRST colour handheld. Of course it was huge, the first portable mobile phones where the size of a briefcase. For it's time it was pretty amazing technology.

  • My Uncle got one of these for a buck with 10 games and it works :P

  • if he didn't look dorky his voice would sound like a 30's mobster

  • @christian661199 He dresses like one now too.

  • @ToshiCP smaller than the micro?? dude that's the sort of thing you keep between you, and your dis-satisfied exes...

  • wow that thing's bigger then my penis

  • @ToshiCP the game boy micro?

  • @toadsworthshortstop Sorryto inform you, we don't have the same sized penises

  • Yes it was huge and it was also significantly more powerful than that average sized granite looking handheld called the gameboy.

  • I love the T-shirt, and this kid sounds like a grown man from the 40's when he talks... I mean that in a good way...

"Aaaaaand well, that's sayin' somethin I suppose!"

Good luck finding kids with this kind of vocabulary and grammar today....

  • @breetown123 He's not a kid, he is a man. And if he is still young, he is a boy.

  • Nice sweaty review!! Rub your sweaty hands all over that worn out scratched up lynx

  • Love the T-shirt

  • 1994? Try 1989, you were off by about 3 years off. It came out the same year as the original Game Boy.

About the size, I don't think it's that much bigger than the 1989 Game Boy.

You really needed to do this at night so you could turn off the light for filming the screen. You can't really see anything due to glair.

I think your comments on the games for the lynx shows that you don't really know it's software that well. Witch isn't really that surprising it was fearly obscure.

  • 'A' mistake?! this kid knows nothing. just read the wiki. after that, buy a book... and stop touching yourself!

  • "All the hits were going to the gameboy and gameboy color" - you forgot to mention it took nine years for gameboy catch up and offer color. The Lynx spanked the Gameboy in performance. In fact, it even spanked the Nintendo console. Nintendo didn't catch up until it released the SNES. Also - the homebrew scene is quite alive and well for the Lynx. You should check it out at AtariAge.com. You can purchase quite a few new cool games, and more are coming!

  • sega dosent make misstake,amen!

  • this makes a game gear look like gameboy micro....

  • you suck at doing reviews

  • LOL I thought you were about to compare it to your penis size.

  • "holy shit batman"

  • Looks like a giant GB Micro. Like GB Micro XXXXXXXXL

  • @WebVMan Like "Honey I blew up the Gameboy Micro!". I saw that movie, killer.

  • I had it before

  • głupi kutas

  • THAT IS GIGANTIC

  • they had a alien vs predator demo, but best luck if you could get one

  • i like the way you explain the 3d.

  • Great review.. I've been wondering about the Atari Lynx for a while, and you managed to answer all my questions! =)

  • @PhantomMidnight The Lynx 2 was smaller but played the same games. I had one when it came out and it was far better then the gameboy which I also had. Most of the negative comments you shouldn't take seriously. It had some amazing games and was very powerful.

  • Good vocabulary in general, makes it more enjoyable to watch!

  • Cut your Nails!

  • pluss point for it size is that you could defend yourself! :D

  • was your ballsack hanging out of your pants?

  • holy crap batman lol

  • Comment removed

  • reminds you of a Genesis DPAD??? this is by far the worst review i've ever seen.

  • @eli7morat What else would the name for the Genesis' Dpad be?

  • @kaiserwilhelm by function and by looks this isn't even slightly similar to the genesis DPAD.

  • @eli7morat By function? It does the same damn thing.

  • good god people, he made a mistake, we all do! correcting is one thing but being downright assholes is another. nobodys fucking perfect

  • You took it out of the box and I laughed at how big it was too.

  • this is one of those kind of videos that reminds me why i hate youtube

  • @spacehead854 And why?

  • I was never aware that this thing is that huge...

  • HOLY CRAP BATMAN!

  • Nice Metal Gear Shirt dude

  • Lol, this video gives credence to the old saying - "Kids know dick." :)

ANYONE who is truly into gaming would know the background to such a milestone as the Lynx. I mean, "duh, maybe 1994, duh, maybe earlier" - c'mon munchkin, get a clue.

Kids like this give us true gamers a bad name. :(

  • I had one then I broke it.

  • lynx was awesome i loved my (i had the new version)

  • @ajtakpetr

Had old one too. Nephew broke it. Still have new one. With about 25 games. Still play it from time to time. A lot of fun. Spent hours at a time on Slime World.

  • @gtmodelt Use pronouns.

  • man i want1

  • you sir, are a fucking geek.

  • back in the day, I bought the Game Gear instead becasue of what I perceived as better games

  • stick some wheels on it and youve got yourself a skateboard. Holy crap batman indeed. :P Cool review! I wonder, does this one get as freaking hot as the one I had back in the days? I could fry an egg on it.

  • the best machine rarerly wins, look at the competion to the mega drive and snes

    ( turbo grafix, 3do, jaguar)

dreamcast a more complete machine than the ps2 mk1, the games cube was more powerful and had a better controler for fps.

the ps3 has the cell processor

behind in sales by a long way to the wii, a refined gamescube with nunchuck controlers.

not knocking the gameboy for being poor, i have one and i actually enjoy it, i cant understand choosing it over it competion at the time

  • may i point out as well the mk 2 was a lot smaller, than this mk1 monster.

had a fairly good amount of game titles

battlezone 2000, hard drivin, lemmings, ninja gaiden, raiden, road blasters, shadow of the beast, switchblade 2 etc.

though the gameboy came out late 89 it was more a 90's machine with monochrome, pathetic!

    bad sound and graphics

    the worse machine won!

people bought with the very good ad campaign and being able to play mario on the bus

    thats fair enough

but it wasnt a good machine

  • dunnoo00 there is no doubt the gameboy had longer battery life (but higher speced machines draw more power), it was massively low spec compared with the sega and atari, the graphics were horrible and monochromatic, dont be a nintendo fanboy.

there is no doubt the sega and atari were better machines, by a country mile.

there frame rates were smoother and they had color

in the eighties to release a non color machine i thought was a complete joke

never understood why it sold, probably never will

  • @cant1rac just reading down these and realising it's 8mnth old news but sort of agreeing and disagreeing with your comments..the gameboy just worked better as a portable console sort of like pitting a simple game on the i pod against a state of the art 3ds or what will be a psp vista game..i wouldve loved to sit in the house and play my 16bit games on a tiny screen but give me tetris in monochrome on the bus or the throne while taking a shit anyday..still want one of these tho.sweet tech indeed

  • @dannyofthededd nintendeo launch a big counter advertising campaign about its battery life.

its battery life was only so long cause as a peice of technology even back then it was ancient.

the lynx battery life is actual pretty good for the power it had.

and is infinetly better than say a lot of mordern digital compact cameras.

but thats the pay off for a more powerful machine.

the original gameboy was not pocket freindly either but was smaller than the lynx

both fitting easily into a bag

  • at :42 i can

  • Comment removed

  • I used to have one of these (though I remember it as being a lot smaller...maybe I had a newer version or something). This thing was way ahead of its time and was better than anything else out then. It's networking capability was pretty sweet.

  • I thought he was going to compare its size to his junk LOL

  • At 0:52 when you go to compare it's size, I was worried that you were going to pull your pants down... :(

  • Okay, now you've gone and dissed the Nomad. What was wrong with the Nomad? It couldn't link with 32X or Sega CD, but who cares? It could play every single Sega Genesis game ever made, including Virtua Racing that even the Sega Genesis 3 can't run. It's backlit, and has an AC adapter as well as a rechargeable battery pack. The controls were comfortable and responsive. It was just slightly bigger than the GameGear, but it had to accommodate the size of the Genesis cartridge.

  • i have the mk 2 version, its a lot smaller, slightly bigger than the sega game gear.

Dont know why anyone bought the crap mono gameboy over this, sega's was decently spec'ed (gameboy color wasnt out then) hated the gameboy! crap mono sound and mono low res graphics, slow stutter game play (still cant understand why anyone touched it) it was going to drain faster than a game boy, but there was no comparision in power. but with modern batteries i find they lasted for a long amout of gaming time.

  • @cant1rac

Both of them had only 1 speaker, and both produced stereo when using headphones.

I don't know what games you played, but the Gameboy has plenty of smooth, fast games. And the games were the thing. Super Mario, Zelda, Castlevania, Megaman, Contra, Pokemon, Final Fantasy Legend, Kirby, Tetris... plus it was cheaper, batteries lasted a lot longer, it was more portable... basically the only downside was the color. Everything else: Gameboy.

  • @dunnono00

Oh, I was comparing it to the Game Gear... but most of the points stand. The Lynx was pretty advanced compared to both GB and GG... it's just that the power was never really utilized for a killer game that made the system worth owning.

  • Bigger than the Game Gear!!!

  • You're a dickhead

  • You should buy & review a Magnavox Odyssey.

  • @ChrisJohnson2K dude, 2 things. 1, YOU CANT FIND THOSE IN ANY RETRO STORE! 2, It fucking sucks. I mean, it REALLY, REALLY SUCKS.

  • You Talk too Fast...LoL

    I like this things...Old games....:L

  • Comment removed

  • do youve ever seen the gamegear? xD

  • hey is that the only handheld made by atari? and what are teh most famous games for it?

  • @9Karma9 I dunno its the only handheld made by Atari..i have one of these myself im not 100% sure on all games but the famous ones i have are: Ninja Gaiden, Alien Vs predator, Batman Returns, Double Dragon, Ryger - Legendary warrior think i have desert strike to umm thats the only ones i know :)

  • Maybe they thought right handed people would feel left out. I mean, obviously the D-pad requires more precision than the buttons. Why in hell would you use your dominant hand for the buttons? Controllers are designed for lefties. And yes, I am left handed.

  • dude say whatever but. IT FITS in yer fucking pocket XDD so its a portable

  • complaining about the size is the only thing people can do. that and the fact that it sucked batteries (if they actually played it). It is so much better than the gameboy its laughable. Gameboy = no color, no backlight, weak speaker, and doesnt fit in your hands as well. the lynx has several near perfect arcade translations too (Road Blasters, Ninja Gaiden, Rampart, Stun Runner, Steel talons, Double Dragon). and some other great games. please dont guess years in reviews. (*hint Google*)

  • .... That thing's a friggen beast!!!

  • WHAAAAT!?? This guy is complaining about the size? It was portable!! You could take it ANYWHERE. Get it? Yes it's bigger than today's portables because today's portables are TODAY'S PORTABLES. God, that complaint is laughable. I mean, geez, today we have wireless portable cell phones. Is it laughable then that they cannot fit inside your wallet. I mean, what were they thinking!?? You actually have to carry them separate from your wallet cuz they're too big. Not a legitimate complaint at all.

  • @SandBarAndYou dont cry about it jesus man. Did you work for the fail that was the lynx project or something!?

  • I have three of the atari lynx

  • Not even the game gear is that big holy cocks.

  • Really cool review!

  • I WANT ONEEEEE

  • 1989

  • It can be used as a weapon!

  • :54 i thought he was gonna whip it out

  • @jonsonn2 lmfao hand held warrior
