I see this kid having a rough time establishing himself in the NHL, and im a leafs fan. Skilled yes but lazy lazy lazy defensively, not everyone is a Selke candidate but you have to hold your own or you're not going to play. Not a complete player at all, at least not right now, and thats what mgmt has asked him to be. I wish the best for him and I hope it works out, but seeing him play for the Knights I wasn't too excited when the leafs drafted him.

I'm from Montreal and I'm a leafs fan...as all my family is rooting for the habs, i get to see a lot of their games. I never got to see highlights of a full game from Nazem... and I don't know if I'm wrong... but the way he skates and enters the zone... he looks very alike to Scott Gomez... got some playmaking skills and obviously a better scoring touch than Gomez while not being the perfect two-way foward... sorry for my english I'm french

@IamJMarch No worries, thanks for the opinion. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if he has Scott Gomez numbers. Gomez gets ragged on because of his salary, which is pretty hefty. And he kind of wasn't noticeable in the playoffs. But he's very skilled. I'm hoping Kadri has a more physical game.

@IamJMarch Your English is beautiful. In fact, you could put a lot of my co-workers to shame. I was fortunate to live in Guelph and see a lot of Nazem. The NHL is a tough league to break into, but Kadri will make it. I see him ultimately a solid top 6 forward. As for my French, well let's just say your English is much better than my French. Let's just say, when I travel to Quebec, I always have my wife or my French educated daughters nearby.

Did anyone notice that he barely ever kept his position or made any defensive effort... He can skate, good hands and vision, but so does every other top ten pick of the last 3 years. I hope he can be a solid NHLer sooner rather than later, but this video shows me he might not be ready.

@PlayaGuitar I'm from London, and I've watched him play quite a bit, and you described him quite well...flashes of brilliance, but not always the greatest effort. Leaf fans have unrealistic expectations of him.

@PlayaGuitar I didn't see any defensive lapses. Perhaps I'm missing it in this video. He does need to work on it judging from previous comments on him (prior to draft year), but I don't think anyone's expecting him to be a Selke candidate. Elite offensive players don't always play well in their own zone. Not calling Kadri elite, obviously.
