  • I saw this a number of years ago. It was a tv movie, not a pilot. I don't recall them trying to bring the show back, this was during the time when they were doing a number of reunion movies of older tv shows. They also did the Brady Bunch, Father knows best, and many. many more.

  • am i the only one that noticed the addams family and the munsters are almost exactally ALIKE....!!! but i like the munsters BETTER hhahahaha!!!

  • @dylanlovesmadeline99 -3- hate you!

  • Must not have been able to get the rights to the original theme at the price they wanted. This must be the first of many knockoffs of the Addams family theme

  • backscratcher! backscratcher!

  • I have this vhs.

  • @jevilscientist Me too, it never gets old. lol

  • Lisa Loring...Wednesday...was on some soap opera in the 80's.I know this not because I saw her on whichever show it was,but because I saw her in Playboy,as part of a pictorial along with other soap-opera actresses.

There's one picture of her, nude under a silk negligee, seen from the back as she stands at the base of a circular staircase.

  • YEAH John Astin!

  • This looks so low budget.

  • Why is the opening theme different from the original? Was the original theme too expensive?

  • AWESOME

  • I remember seeing this on TV sometime in the 80s. I do recall that there was a Wednesday Sr and Jr, and a Pugsley Sr and Jr, respectively. See, the senior versions were the *original* actors (now in their late teens/early 20s) and the jr versions were child actors. I also remember that Gomez's twin cousin was also featured in the show. I wonder why Carolyn Jones was billed as a special guest star?

  • Who did she say was going to replace Dan Rather? Lurch or Gomez?

  • Somebody PLEASE post this!

  • cant believe how pretty Carolyn jones is

    she is like always pretty

  • Cousin It is now married to my brother.

  • Better then the ''New Addams Family'' opening

  • i have the entire show on my laptop

  • This is not a pilot, but a Halloween TV movie called HALLOWEEN WITH THE ADDAMS FAMILY.

  • @monsterbob Was going to say that. Thanks.

  • Blossom Rock was supposed to return as Grandmama but a stroke disbled her from appearing.

  • Ha I have this on VHS!!

  • its aired every once in a blue moon on TV around Halloween.

  • Cousin Itt!!!!!!!!!! was da man!!!!

  • Cousin Itt!!!!!!!!!!

  • Our local station used to show this every Halloween right before trick-or-treating would start. I would watch it each year - almost like a mini-tradition but without Elvira being involved.. lol

  • Not sure if someone addressed this already, but why is Carolyn Jones (Morticia) a special guest star? She was the mother of the household. Did she not appear onscreen for very long?

  • @MissMom4evr Maybe they wanted to give Carolyn Jones the special "And..." billing but just went with Special Guest Star instead; you can judge for yourself: the entire special is on YouTube in 7 parts :)

  • @fivebearrugs Remember when Carolyn Jones starred in the old soap Capitol? It was only on for a few years in the early '80s, and I believe, was replaced by The Bold and the Beautiful. I think Carolyn died (in real life) and was replaced by some dog-faced actress.

  • @redletter2008 I have vague memories of that show since I was born in '79, lol, although I did read that she was in ailing health when she was on it, something about her sitting down in all of her scenes, and then she eventually died of cancer.

  • @MissMom4evr Exact!

  • Cool It's the Halloween Special ...I've got this on VHS in a box some where with stuff from my childhood..lol...now if I only knew how to get it onto my pc I would post it.

  • @BikerBeast6 there are some video stores were you can let it get on a DVD so maybe you could try to find a sture that does that

  • The Addams Family was a great 60's show! It was even on in my native Syria (translated)!

  • joo creo ke no existe en español...

  • Only a couple of years after making this movie Lurch, Mama, and Morticia died.

  • @garelicious83 Thanks for the info I'm so sad RIP Thanks for the memories.

  • @garelicious83: And Thing too, since Ted Cassidy's hand portrayed Thing when Lurch was off-camera.

  • morticia is hot

  • The guy who played Uncle Fester Looks more weird and spooky.

  • carolyn jones was fine at the end !!

  • Was it really a pilot? I just thought it was a special. I'd love to have seen a continuation, especially considering how lovely Wednesday had grown up to be!

  • Wish they had an episode with Elvira in it as Morticia's sister, possibly trying to woo Gomez away with her. Unfortunately, she would have only been around 13 when The Addams Family aired.

  • i like PUGSLY !!!! :X:X:X:X:X

  • Carolyn Jones was so beautiful!

  • Damn

this older jackie Coogan makes uncle fester really scary..

but grown up Wednesday is kinda extra beautiful...

  • It's nice to see them in color! But it is too weird to see Pugsley & Wednesday looking so grown! I liked them better as kids...Pugsley lost weight! How did they pull it off in this ? Were they already grown teenagers in the storyline for this ?

  • @AmericanEvita Yes, Pugsley and Wednesday both came home from their respective boarding schools (witch doctor for Pugsley, music school for Wednesday). Both were "Sr", as there was also a Wednesday Jr and a Pugsley Jr in the special as well. :)

  • I knew I wasn't seeing things, except for Grand ma Adams, that's the original cast,11years older..Lisa Loring played wednesday ,she was about 17 yrs old,so she looks hot in 1977. Ken Weatherwax 21 yrs old. Back in the 70's they tried alot of reunion specials.

  • I like the subtle differrence to the melody in the theme song to avoid litigation :P

  • whos the hotie at the end?

  • That's Elvira, mistress.

  • No. That is not Wednesday. Wednesday was pale and creepy! And homicidal! Not pretty and lovable! This is a total screw up...even t hough it was before the ACTUAL show...

  • @tinngrinn They were actaully quite kind and cute on the original show, in the movies though they were portrayed as morbid devil worshipers, so the kids should look like that.

  • @TheLegallywicked: This is based on the original show and comics, wherein the kids are nice, not the more gothic versions of subsequent years.

  • @tinngrinn: *growls* Christina Ricci only made Wednesday pale, creepy, and homicidal in the movies of the 90's (and subsequent actresses have done the same), but originally, Wednesday started out as the cute and loveable sibling. As Morticia and Gomez said in the Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the 1970's, created right after the 1960's sitcom hits its major stride: "Wednesday's turning out to be such a sweet and darling little lady." "Cheer up, maybe we'll have better luck with Pugsley."

  • I believe they were Pugsley and Wednesday and Pugsley, Junior and Wednesday (Junior).

  • For some reason, this version had TWO Wednesdays and Pugsleys.

  • ELVIRA lol...

  • There was a halloween special I remember seeing in the 80's mid to late...it aired on a saturday (halloween) afternoon or morning. I remember it had some original cast. I don't know if this was it or not. they were having a halloween party.

  • Holy Crap! Wednesday's HOT!

  • I have this special on vhs tape

  • Me too! yay book orders in the early 90's!

  • It's sad they couldn't used the original Addams Family theme song.

    Instead, they opted this knock-off.

  • they should of make the addams family real monster you know like vampires and witches and stuff

  • @h193013: They HAVE "The Munsters" for that. With that said, I always wanted an Addams/Munster crossover to see how the two freaky families would hit it off.

  • @TherealRNO I had an idea where they try to set Marilyn up with Cousin Itt

  • @h193013: And I wonder if Eddie and Wednesday would hit it off or if Grandmama would fall for Grandpa...

  • I got a copy from e bay on DVD great trip x

  • What do they mean "Special Guest Star: Carolyn Jones"?

During the show's run, she had top billing for playing Morticia.

  • I've never seen this but I think in this movie Pugsley is 22 and Wednesday is 19

  • I have it uploaded...

  • I have this on DVD, recorded it from the tape. you can pick it up off of Demonoid or Pirate Bay however

  • HOLY CLEAVEGE

  • @wickham777 um, exactly my words as well

  • Is it me or does this theme tune sound ENTIRELY out of tune?

  • the whole damn song bothered me, as i love the adams family show..

  • Is that the original actor who played Pugsley?

  • OMG! I remember seeing this!!! I only remember it because of the part where they're all doing eachothers hair. No one ever knew what I was talking about when I would mention that.

  • I use to have the video tape when I was five years old, I love that show, they should make DVD's for it.

  • It is on DVD, both the 1960s version and the early 90s animated version.

Both brilliant in my honest opinion!!!

  • Are you sure?

  • 100.5% certan :)

  • I remember this special -- it wasn't bad. Though for some reason it being in color actually TAKES AWAY from the 'spookiness' of the show.

  • Ohhh!! She is Boooobierela... (from the simpsons)

  • It's not Boooobierela, it's Elvira. Actually, Elvira was inspired by Morticia from the Addams family comics before the addams family tv show even started.

  • Sadly I have no VHS to computer converter, in fact it might have even been given away to the Goodwill by my mother, but I remember just about every part of it. I'll check next time I am go home.

  • Another way: If you have a DVD recorder, copy it to DVD, then install a DVD ripper (preferably with a basic editing program) on your PC. Finalise the DVD, then put it in the PC's disc drive, then use the DVD ripper to "rip" the video off the DVD and then edit it.

Or an even simpler way would be to copy 10 mins of the show to DVD, stop recording, then copy another 10 mins etc (at 10 mins is the video limit on youtube). then rip the DVD, export as MPEG4 (.mp4) and upload to youtube! :)

  • I have this whole show on VHS somewhere. I used to watch it a lot as a kid.

  • You should post some clips. I loved this movie, only for nostalgia reasons of course. It was the only version of the Addams Family on videotape rather than film.

  • i dont like the new addams family i like the old one and the movies from the 90's

  • I like this version of the Theme Music it's the flip side of the original theme...Cool!

  • I still pull this tape out every year. I always trip out to it. The song, "Merry, Shh, Creepy, Halloween", with the candle staircase walk, is the best part. That, and the dancing during the Halloween party.

  • I'd love to see this too, if someone has a link could you please post it?!??!

  • It's on Ebay, or you can find torrents for it. It was on here last year I think, but it must have been pulled due to copyright issues.

  • Wow! i am not sure if i am ready to see that special, looks so horrible!

    thanks for uploadng this!

  • It's really not as good as the original show..

The begging bored me, but the end is kinda funny and cute..

And it was sooo funny to see it in color, but still I prefer it in black/white...

  • that's the videos of when we first got color tv

it didn't get much better until the '90's.

  • thanx for this gem

  • does anyone have a link to the entire show? I'd like to see it. I love the Addams family.

  • who's the girl with huge boobs that appear at the end?

  • I believe you are talking about Wednesday... but I can't really see her boobs...

People says this special is not as good as the original... but still...

    I WANT TO WATCH IT!!!

Should we have a petition and tell the TV station to play it in next halloween?

  • jccjcc/memyrex: That's Elvira. A vampiress icon of the 70's and 80's.

  • GASP! You dont know who Elvira is !!???

  • I've wanted to see this for some time. Just becuase I've been an Addams fan since the age of 5. Kenny Wetherwax who played Pugsley in the original show once said "Whoever wrote that special should be shot".

  • wow 10 years went by and carolyn jones looks exactly the same

  • i know, i was like wow, cause she truly does look exactly the same!!

  • Nevermind, I've got it xD

  • Anyone who knows where to get this?...

I would love to see the whole episode!...

  • This TV ad is a promo..I wasn't around but I do know that in Halloween of '77, this special episode was made and it was said to be lousy but that's part of the "camp" that was Addams Family...it looks great in color

  • OMG fantastic

  • oww i wanna see this film

  • @KaddiErdnuss You can

  • I am putting this on DVD tomorrow, I love this classic movie.

  • I remember they showed this on TBS on Halloween (possibly more than one Halloween) around when the first Addams Family movie came out, and maybe the second too. They sold it on VHS, but never on DVD. Wish I'd gotten it. There are so few Halloween specials around, and most still aren't on DVD, like Halloween That Almost Wasn't and Raggedy Ann and Andy. Man, Wednesday got hot, by the way. Someone please post the whole program!

Wonder why this had a bit of Elvira cut into it...

  • I have it complete

  • I saw this back when it first came out in 77-it was lousy. That's tough to say cause I am the biggest Addams Family fan. The storyline was terrible, boring, and cheap!

  • Funny thing was that the original actors were in it.Too bad the original writers didn't write it.

  • i used to have this on vhs when i was a kid.i would love to see it again!!

  • its such a pitty u dont hav th entire show!!!

but where did u get this intro from? i guess if there isnt anyth else of th show, itll be difficult to find more =(

    such a pittyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
