  • Thank you so much for making all these videos. My husband and I are looking into getting Chinchillas. In regard to cleaning, is it OK to use bleach wipes to clean the shelves and hideaway homes? Or can you only use soapy water? What chemicals are not harmful to chinchillas?

  • @rissa8592 Chinchillas are sensitive to chemicals , they are delicate ..yet hardy animals.

Please save your time and money and not take a chance on chemicals.

a 50/50 mix ...white vinegar and water is all you need ...and you'll spend a dollar or two.

Soapy water for sure is not good. There are bottles of things like CLEAN CAGE that you can use if you want to spend 12 -16 dollars.

I use a Dirt Devil easy steam handheld for most of the cleaning these days...no chemicals, whatsoevr.

  • @rissa8592 thank YOU for the compliment. Please consider joining my free forum LUCKYS PLACE luckysplace(dot)net have over 700 members, Im there every day for all the questions you may have

  • hi! i am in Bucharest, and here i have yet to find a good chinchilla wheel. all i could find is the chinchilla ball. do you hv any idea how i will get from here. What is the alternative then?

  • @MrWazzupgirl its very difficult. We help people out of the US get wheels from my forum

You dont have to pay customs etc cause we ship as a gift

We usually do that for active members we know for a while ... and we have members all over the world. Those exercise balls can kill them. I do not recommend those .. they can get paralyzed in them, chinnies dont sweat , they can have a stroke, it puts their spine in a horrible position...throw the ball out please thanks luckysplace(dot)net

  • Your chinchillas are probably the HAPPIEST chinchillas in the woorrllddd!!

  • @horsewolflover6776 thank you ...I like to think so

  • there

  • i dont let my chinchillas out at night only for when im their

  • @dragonsafire1746 they should have out of the cage time ...every night one hour minimum...otherwise its like they are prisoners

  • i have one last question how much does a chinchilla bite hurt and what are the reasons they bite?

  • @nerfninja09 all chinchillas do TEST bites,.,that means they dont know what stuff is till they taste it,,.that could include your finger if you are not careful

a chincihlla will bite when threatened , or attacked...

normally chinchillas will warn you and Ive had chinnies for 13 years and ive bitten once..and it was my fault..I was buggin him

  • when u clean(sorry forgot to add the ending)

  • @nerfninja09 yes ..I was wondering what you meant

my chinnies are free always so they just walk around the room

now that I have a female as well (and I wont mix them) the chinnies go in the bathroom while I clean...

    great question

  • @jglaser333 i meant where did you put the chinchilla with all the loud nois i thought that you should keep them away from loud noises

  • @nerfninja09 a vacuum cleaner isnt a loud noise..no problem with that

a loud noise is a chain saw, or heavy metal guitar through an amp, or someone hammerring, or a TV blasting loud ...

  • where did you put the chinchillas

  • @ jglaser333 so I went to the pet store and held a chinchilla and my mom was like goin cra z that he was wild I told her that thats their personalities an that he's gunna be stressed scince that that first time he's met me... So

    I was wondering how could

    I make the chinchilla

Feel safe ( the only reason I didn't get him cause I felt like the chinchilla didn't feel comfortable with me) so how do I get a chinchilla to feel calm with me? Thx

  • @chinsandguin123 it can take literally years for them to trust you

They are prey animals/..its their instinct to run, to hide and to protect themselves

having a chinchilla is a wonderful but challenging thing.

I guess I could simply say...imagine you are in a pet store .awake when you usually sleep, and some giant picks you up.the same kinda giant who has been making coats out of the chinnies brothers and sisters for 100's of years...and maybe you'll understand why it was scared

  • @jglaser333 Ive been studying chinchillas for about a year now and I'm planning to funnily get one tomorrow. I have a few questions still. Do chinchillas get stressed out wen u travel and let a friend take care of them? Also I have a guinea pig... So I was wondering if they'd get along, I'll have sepret cages but will they get along well? Thxxx for the vid😉

  • @chinsandguin123 I hire a pet sitter when I go on vacation or tour with the music..

the person is fully trained by me to know about feeding, how to handle them, emergencies . Chinchillas can bond with you alot and they will positively miss you

but usually they will be just fine if you leave them with a KIND person. They normally get along with GP's of course as you say not the same cage. You must supervise for a while. Here my youngest attacks my rabbit who could easily kill her

  • I have a rabbit and a dog, I felt really nervous before getting my dog, hes a bichon frise because they need a lot of grooming, but im coping. I really want to get a chinchilla but i feel nervous about getting one in case something goes wrong. I hope i can be a good owner :) I'm only 14 but animal mad - I want to be a vet. Thanks for the videos - they really help

  • @MissSianTaylor great on becoming a vet. We sure need more quality EXOTIC vets, please consider that. I also have a dog and a rabbit

you have to be very very careful. Chinchillas are prey animals and some dogs attack and kill them, and some rabbits also have hurt or killed them. You must always supervise

  • @jglaser333

The vet 5 mins from my house are a livestock, exotic and domestic vets :) They specialise in mainly in horses, snakes, chinchillas and iguanas. But they are also good in domestic. The prices are hefty - its £60 a year for my rabbit vacs and about £50+ for my dog. I'm hoping to be a specialist in exotics :)

  • @MissSianTaylor thats absolutely GREAT

  • @jglaser333 I was planning to get one in a few days and I've been researching then for about a year now and I was wondering, will my guinea pig get jelous of a chinchilla?

  • @chinsandguin123 no in most cases...mine have always been best friends

however some chinchillas (especially young ones) can get aggressive not knowing that the guinea pigs are not chinchillas... so please supervise at first

if the chinnie makes them nervous make sure you are there . Do not house them of course in the same cage

  • hi i notice this video was put on over a year ago but anyways i just wanted to know if you sprayed the 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water cleaning stuff on the wooden shelves tooo? i never knew i could do that...but i hav the store bought cage cleaner stuff tho haha thanks btw did i see a rottweiler?(:

  • @iluvchins yep a year ago..but thankfully people write and check it every day

yes...I use the vinegar and water on the wooden shelves positively

I have never had to use anything stronger...

yes Pistol is mostly a rottie. Shes an amazing dog! thank you

  • Hi I wanted to tell you thanks for all your videos, I have had Cherie for 2 & a half weeks now & I love her to pieces & she is doing well!

  • @browneyednessagirl93 I appreciate that... Thank YOU. Please join my free forum and show off your chinnie and get to know lots of people with chinchillas and other animals

    luckysplace(dot)net

  • Oh.. I forgot to add to that comment below.. It makes me so mad when you see chinchilla owners or any other kind of pet owner who put videos on here and everything is a mess, poop all over the cage, and greasy looking fur. Also, there are a few videos of people tormenting the poor chinchillas, poking them and making them mad on purpose.. Seriously, they need to wake up and realize that's just mean!

  • @BSHSflute well first thank you. You do know that TIKI ...my Tiki was extremely beloved .especially on youtube. Glad to know there is another Tiki out there!!

I agree about so many people not knowing, and mistreating their chinnies

One reason I have my forum LUCKYS PLACE is to help the world learn about the care , and amazing stuff about chinnies (and other pets). If you can please join ..its free luckysplace(dot)net

  • Thanks for this video! Ive watched a lot of your videos (before i got mine) of your chinchillas and how to care for them.! I have a female chinchilla, her name is tiki(short for tequila), id do anything for her.. They have so much love and trust once they get to know you and it's really amazing how intelligent they are! I hope to get more sometime.. But one is enough now.. Especially since I'm still in high school and haven't settled down in life yet.. She comes out of her cage every night and

  • I've decded to put off getting a chinchilloa because i have been too busy lately i wouldnt be able to give them enough attention. However I was recently given a baby rat as a gift and have already fallen in love with her. I'm watching your videos to see what I can use with my rat, have you ever owned a rat? would the fleece idea work for them too.

  • @Russia2point0 glad to hear it

and rats are great ,..though Ive never had one

please log on to my forum Luckys Place luckysplace(dot) net

and look for a person in the UK whos name is Charlie (its a she)

she is an expert for rats

  • Hi! I've been watching your videos to make sure I have all the main points, & I'd like to say it's really helpful! I went to the pet-store a fortnight ago & saw Chinchillas for the first time! I fell in love with them, but didn't know the first thing about them. I''m a little more wise now, but I do have a few questions. 1: are chinchillas annoyed by Hoovers/vacuums? 2: best sex pair? female and female, or male and male? 3: for things like hair straighteners, would I have to leave the room? Ty!

  • @marinaxmarika appreciate that you have watched and are wanting to give these amazing creatures the best. Please join my free forum Luckys Place luckysplace(dot)net

Im there with 700 others who have lots of experience

Males and Males are a little less territorial. It really depends on the pair,..but please get a bonded pair (same sex) otherwise you may end up with multiple cages and playtimes. I now have a female (Princess) , my first female chinchilla and like humans they are

  • @jglaser333 Thanks! I wanted to join but thought it might be inappropriate since I don't have a Chinchilla yet! and thanks for the advice (: also I've heard that fully grown females are bigger than males... is that true?

  • @marinaxmarika no chinchillas male and female come in all sizes

I had one who was sturdier and larger than many rabbits about 800 grams and my Furdinand is very small framed and weighs around 550 grams...quite a difference

my female chinchilla (princess) is around 600 G. The best time to try the forum is before you have a chinchilla so you can share ideas and learn the most

  • @marinaxmarika (continued) she is really different then the boys. She is more emotional and thinks more about her movements and what she wants ( like humans)

My boys are like my friends ...the guys are guys... food, sleep and a few other things I cant write here LOL Hair steaighteners? the electric thing? or chemicals? not sure what that question was really

  • man how many pets do you have

  • @finallyamazing23 5 birds, 3 chinies, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit, 2 gerbils, 2 dogs

  • i never new that its good for them to poop so much mine poops so much

  • @finallyamazing23 its very good,.,..as long as the poops arent soft. Its one of the ways we know they are healthy or not. Yep ..they poop alot

  • Hi Jamie your videos have been very helpful & I'm apart of a forum for chinchillas-but I wanted to know if the tiki snak shaks from petsmart would be safe for a chinchilla? it says its made out of hay & edible log! I would normally ask the forum, but I'm kinda in a hurry! Any help would be appreciated!

  • @browneyednessagirl93 are you part of my forum Luckys Place (luckysplace(dot)net)

are the snak shaks safe... I dont trust the LOG, Its best to get great hay and really good wood chews like luckylogs(dot)com or some other organic place. I dont use those snak shaks ,..they are overpriced, they are made in countries that were known to put poison in animal food etc. Keep it simple...and keep it cheap...GOOD HAY, GOOD WOOD CHEWS,,,thanks

  • @jglaser333 Ok thanks for you help!! Well I am planning on getting her lots of chews that are safe & giving her a regular supply of hay everyday this was just for her to sleep in, but if it's not safe I will not get it!

  • @browneyednessagirl93 great... I would suggest a good quality wooden hidey house

try to get as large as you can. Those little ones they often sell fall apart easily

thanks for coming by. Im not sure about the safety,..I know I wouldnt want to sleep in a house I could eat. Happy holidays jamie

  • are exotic vets better than the regular cause i am not sure if i have exotics in my area should i get $ome exotics and find out what the best is for me knowing that i might i have some exotics in my local are

  • @finallyamazing23 a regular vet is NOT trained to take care of chinchillas , rabbits, birds

these are specialists. PLEASE PLEASE do NOT get a chinchilla until you find the doctor you will use FIRST. No exotic vet..do NOT get a chinchilla. They are up at night ...and thats when the trouble can happen. make sure you have a 24 hour emergency place with exotic help as well ..thanks

  • I have carpet all in my house will it affect the chinchilla

  • @mexlov19 no ..but the chinchilla will affect the carpet for sure

you can NOT house train a chinchilla.

  • Hey j about how much money do you spend a month on the chinchillas

  • @ballstoyou73 if they dont need to see a vet,.,, about 30 dollars a month ..pellets, fresh hay, healthy treats, filtered water, etc

  • I have a question you have probably already answered, so sorry! My sister is giving me her chinchilla in a few weeks. She did not socialize it well as a baby and I'm pretty sure she didn't let it out of the cage everyday. But I want to take good care of it and would like to know how can I get a bond with him and what should I do to help that? And I want to order one of those nice big cages! She has a plastic one that's not that big.

  • @ashlbern thats wonderful that you want to learn and do your best! The best way to bond is to go in a small room like the bathroom (toilet closed) and let your chinnie control the situation, she/he will jump on you, smell you, maybe jump on your shoulder etc. Its an amazing thing when you bond with chinchillas ...they really love you. Cages,.,. I have a chinchilla mansion (quality cage) around 250 dollars , a Marshall mansion (around 160 dollars) and a Midwest ferret nation FN182

  • @ashlbern you can go to ferret(dot)com for really good cages ..but you have to modify all cages

cover the pan with fleece, or replace is with a pan from BASS

then you need shelves,.,.,wood shelves from kiln dried pine

do not use plastic and do not use RAMPS. Hope that helps ..please join my free forum

Luckys Place luckysplace(dot)net. there are over 600 people that will help you there

I am on my way to a south america to do a month of music touring,. Thanks

  • @jglaser333 I have signed up and have posted a few times :) I ordered the FN 142 and I also got the bass pans. I plan to order fleece as soon as I can. Wow, south america? I know this lady who is traveling the world indefinitely with her son, and she is currently in south america. Have fun!

  • @ashlbern I play with Jean Luc Ponty..we sold over 3 million albums,,,in the 80's

its a reunion tour leaving in a few hours..thanks for the mention...great on the FN 142

  • Im thinking about getting a chinchilla. I really like all the information. You have a lot of heart and it shows in all the videos I've seen so far.

  • @QueenEarthDragon thank you ...I appreciate that. Chinchillas are relatively new as boutique and popular pets

pet stores do not have information often, so I have spent the last 13 years researching, learning, improving and loving them. I want people to have a place to go and to make wise decisions regarding an animal who is very very different, exotic, bonds so hard , and lives so long. Please join my free forum and meet lots of people with much experience . Luckys Place luckysplace(dot)net

  • @jglaser333 hahahaha. Yea it's odd. I'm really glad you make these videos and actually give ppl advice and answer their questions it helps out a whole lot. Thanks so much!

  • @lakeup2288 ur welcome

  • @jglaser333 okay thank I got him a fleece blanket. He seems to like it and it seems less expensive then bedding. I have another question I'm kinda worried about my chinchilla I came in and he was in his cage and biting and pulling at his business (to put it in nice terms) is this normal?

  • @lakeup2288 yes yes completely normal. They pleasure themselves ..some more than others

On the other hand if he makes any noises etc you should have him checked for fur rings (fur around his penis) as that can kill , etc .. Yes Its normal and I embarrassed to tell you I have watched these guys do this for 13 years... I still find it somehow interesting

  • How many pets do you have in all? We have 3 cats, 6 turtles, and a parakeet. I was wanting a chinchilla (thinking they would be just as easy as our past rabbits, but less poop) obviously I was wrong I am glad you post these videos. :) I decided not to beg for a chinchilla they seem like to much money and time for someone in my position. Thanks for your info on chinchillas!

  • @cbrcrx I am so happy to read this ... thank you for caring more about the animals then yourself

it takes a lot to have chinchillas , and they live a wonderfully long time

I have 3 chinchillas, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit, 5 birds (1 sun conure and 4 conures ..(green cheek, black headed, fancy yellow sided) 2 dogs

  • Just came across your videos. I have recently bought a chinchilla. His name is killa. I really like your idea of using fleece as bedding seems way less expensive. Instead of fleece could I use a cotton sheet?

  • @lakeup2288 no please do NOT use cotton or other material except fleece

if they chew the cotton it will unravel and impact them,

please join my free forum LUCKYS PLACE and show off your new chinnie Killa

    we are at luckysplace(dot)net

  • what cage (under 100 dollars would you recommend? I've been looking for a long long time and can't really find one. i want one that i can just lift off the base like your Marshall, but now they have slide out pans. so if you could direct me to a good cage, it would be much appreciated.

  • @ImAnOctopusBitch Im sorry ,,I wouldnt know of a cage less then 100 dollars

its expensive to house , love, take care of , and be guardian of chinchillas ,....plus its a long time responsibility

The best you can do is go to EBAY and pray I suppose

I have never gotten a cage even used for less than 200

check with FOSTERS AND SMITH perhaps

    thanks

  • lol dude,we both got zoooooooooo

  • @HODOUTHINKUAR good!! thanks for watching

  • 7:00 is the cutest thing ever

  • @ImAnOctopusBitch thanks for watching

  • Is it ok to let your chin run around on artificial grass/ turf?

  • @toocool4sckool I dont see why not (unless you catch them eating eat...

not sure if that would be safe

  • Hello, I had a question. You say not to have a female and male in the same cage, and is that because of breeding?

    Thanks!

  • @loonalover613 ABSOLUTELY!!!

  • @jglaser333 I just adopted 2 chins from some people who couldn't care for them. They seem to be doing very well but I was wondering, is it better for them to have only hay and alfalfa instead of pellets and hay? I have heard of people doing this successfully, what do you think?

  • Can I use an disinfectant instead of cage clean because I dont have anything else ?

  • @Chinchilla025 no please dont...some disinfectants leave residue that be very dangerous

the best and cheapest way to go is to get WHITE VINEGAR...mix 1/4 to 1/2 in water and you have a safe, effective, cheap cleaner.

  • @jglaser333 thanks :)

  • @jglaser333 where did you get that wheel i need something like that

  • @zhaster @zhaster I have a Chin Spin too, and it's great! It's metal, so the chins won't eat it, and it doesn't erode from their waste. The rotor is fairly silent, but it can shake the cage walls if they are loosely connected. You also won't have to worry about your chins losing a leg in a mesh-type wheel. I bought mine from quality cage dot com for about $80.

  • @mim0sabones yes ...good response and true ...thank you for that

  • @zhaster quality cage (dot)com its called a chinspin

  • What kinda cage is that?

  • @FerretsForDummies marshall ferret estate ,,,modified

  • I really want a Chinchilla but I dont think I could take care of one with all of the dangers with them. Should i get like a rat or guinea pig instead?

  • @DaOttqzerrr17 all animals take special care., Rats, guinea pigs and all ...all will need good care. Chinchillas needs are many ,...yes

  • @jglaser333 thanks

  • @jglaser333 what type of cage does baron have?

  • @JazzyGurl2738 its a marshall mansion

  • I have a Chinchilla named Fred. I'm 16 and i originally got him when i was 13. He was previously my aunts and she spent a lot of time home breeding and often lost the babies. I felt kind of bad but i got him and ended up having to let her keep him for a month or so when i wasn't able to watch him. She gave him away without telling me and he got passed around. recently i found him dumped at a pet store and i was able to save him. he is much happier to be back in a good home

  • @AlexOnEdge1 your post makes my blood boil and my heart warm

Ill tell you what if ever ever again you need to rehome FRED ...you contact me first

and you can tell your aunt for me...she should stay away from animals period

she may be a wonderful aunt but in terms of respect for animals , and loving them , caring for them

    SHE STINKS

  • @jglaser333 I know right. Fred is almost as old as I am and I'm surprised he stayed alive with her and apparently he wasn't treated well when he was with the other people. I'm just glad he is back with me. I had a question though. I wasn't to make his playtime more fun for him. Is there anything i can do to create more stuff for him to run around and jump and just have fun?

  • @AlexOnEdge1 yes... go to foreverfeisty(dot)com and buy the maze . Each night I put it together differently

hide treats in there , My guinea pigs, rabbit and of course the chinchillas LOVE LOVE LOVE it

    and keeps them happy

  • @jglaser333 Oh thank you! that sounds really neat

  • You have helped me so much. Thank you! I'm 16 and getting a chin in a month after I finish getting everything set up. I had no idea about the poop. Thanks for the heads up and the info. :D

  • @vanesataylor I appreciate you writing..the poop really isnt that bad... you'll get used to it I promise

  • I'm 14 and im thinking of getting a chinchilla my parents agree but i will begin to research chinchillas and see if they are the right pet for me i already have a dog and 2 cats but those the whole family takes care of. Thanks you for giving me a "heads up" about chinchillas and telling me thier pros and cons...

    - William

  • @Civicblabla you're welcome William ... Please share the info with your parents. I had animals/pets from the age of 7 and by the time I was 14 I was responsible for both the animal and the bills...it was pretty hard. As you know from my videos I do NOT recommend chinnies for people under 18 or older...thats not cause you wont be a great parent...its cause they get in trouble at 2 am. you need to drive and have money for emergencies

    Good luck

    Jamie

  • Where can I buy a fleece cover for the bottom of their cage? Is that the best option?

  • @Nbrito06 I love fleece ..you shake it out, clean it once a week

one 10 dollar or less investment

they have it at Walmart or I buy it at Hancock Fabrics (buy anti pill )

I believe its the best..no dust, no expense, no mess

  • I use carefresh or pine bedding, I try to stay away from pine because my four chins are in my bedroom and the dust drives me crazy.

  • I have two chinchillas they pee and poop in a litter pan and I clean it out 5 times a weak they are in the cage all day and are out at night for 4 hours I have never been happier with them and I'm hoping to see when she will have babies!!!!!

  • PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT HAVE BABIES

BREEDING AT HOME IS THE WORST HOLOCAUST FOR CHINCHILLAS

NOt knowing the chinchillas genetics for 3 generations or more is the reason why chinchillas suffer, and die from Malocclusion, diabetes and other awful , horrible diseases

breeding is not fun, not funny, not profitable, NO GOOD

please separate your chinchillas ..male from female

the last thing we need is more home bred chinchillas

    glad your chinchillas use litter

  • make sure you stress how bad the starter cages are at petsmart, because i used one for a couple of months and the bars were too far apart and my little chinchilla got her foot stuck in the cage and broke her little arm :(

ps: i love your videos its inspiring to see someone who loves their pets as much as you do!

  • @kaitylovesu thank u and Im sure sorry to hear about the accident

they can get into trouble in the most unusual places

one of my chinnies climbed a 6 foot bird cage and ended up stuck and hung down..losing a toe

    and almost his life

    you just never know

    thanks again for your post

    jamie

  • @jglaser333 I am getting one really cheap ($40) and have a starter cage and will save up for a huge cage like yours. I will have about $500 in about 1 month, would I be able to keep the chinchilla in a starter cage for a month, so I can save and get the huge one?

  • @Chantyl1998 thats wonderful ...yes sure but please make it your important business to let your chinchilla out for at least an hour a day (especially with a small cage)

    chin proof your room

    and dont expect too much

chinchillas can take years to warm up to you

speak softly, be gentle, never grab,,,,let them be boss and you will find an amazing bond started good luck

  • A shop vac is a very valuable tool with any small critter. And yes, chinnies do poop a lot. In fact, I have a two-year old chinny whose name is "Sir Poop-a-Lot!" I found this video to be entertaining and useful. This guy has lots of good info. for wanna-be chinny owners.

  • @Baldaad1 as "the guy" I really appreciate your comment

I answer over 2000 PM's on youtube alone and so many dont know what they're in for

Im used to this...but lots of people would give up with all this mess thanks again

  • What kind of bedding is the best for chinchillas?

  • @Saralilica12 FLEECE

  • i saw that in the one cage that you cleaned out it didn't have any bedding in it it only had a towel can i do that too

  • @LuckiRat its not a towel my friend

I use FLEECE in all my cages

that was a fleece rolled up ready for the washing machine

  • Hm i dont have that type of vaccume... but would it be okay if i used a paper towl or a napkin to wipe it down?

  • @XxVanillaCupcakesXx you would need a broom

and a towel if you have no vacuum

  • @jglaser333 Oki thanks! your videos are lots of help! :3

  • @XxVanillaCupcakesXx THANK YOU

  • i'm considering getting a chinchilla and at night i sleep with my fan on high, and i was wondering would that disturb the chinchilla or could i just put a towel on the top of their cage or what?

  • @seaweed464 the fan will not disturb the chinchilla what will disturb and perhaps even kill the chinchilla is no air conditioning (you didnt say that...just alerting you) Fans , swamp coolers etc are NOT suitable for chinchillas they do not sweat , and can not bear temps above 75 F or humidity above 40-5o percent. Also ... a chinchilla gets into EVERYTHING... a fan anywhere near a chinchilla, the AC cord, the fan itself poses a danger to an animal that doesnt understand.

  • where did you get your cage?? thank you and i love your videos

  • @GuineaPigObsessed1 its a MARSHALL mansion ..I bought it in California

and I have a chinchilla mansion ..thats at quality cage (dot )com

    thanks for your comment

  • @jglaser333 thank you that really helped n i love your chinchillas:)

  • @GuineaPigObsessed1 you're welcome

  • i think iv seen a young woman in some of ur vids, blonde, ponytail, tanktop. is she ur daughter?

  • @xcypressriverx no..the people you see in my videos are from my free forum LUCKYS PLACE luckysplace(dot)net

    thanks

  • I have been researching chinchillas for a while now and I've just been loving your videos. You said they dislike loud noises, is a hoover okay or should they be put in another room thats safe of wires and electronics and high/sharp ledges? Laura.. ..

  • @LauraL3716 by loud noises I mean,,,blasting guitars, or hammers,,,stuff like that

a vacuum cleaner isnt loud and you will need that hoover if you get a chinnie

    thanks for watching my videos

  • @jglaser333 I was just wondering because some hoovers can get quite loud, but it shouldn't be a problem because I can't play music to save my life and I'll never be doing D.I.Y or my house won't change.

    Your awesome and very welcome.

  • @LauraL3716 thanks for writing!

  • How many times a day and how much shall i feed my chinchilla?

  • @gurglefiction they need fresh hay 24 hours a day prefarably Timothy...but orchard, and other hays are good, in fact we switch them to different hays often , as its good for their teeth. Alfalfa is just for young chinchillas , up to 6 months or so. it contains too much calcium. They should have good pellets like Oxbow or Mazuri

each day, about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup. Refill if they finish. No treat food,,.,like charlie chinchilla

  • @jglaser333 Thanks so much.

  • How many times a day and how much should i feed my chinchilla?

Fleece is fleece...go to HANCOCK FABRICS online and you can get the best quality fleece..at the cheapest price. yes I have 2 solo albums and I have recorded over 170 albums for other artists

please my friend go to my website..jamieglaser(dot)com

    have a good one

  • also, is a polyester blanket ok to use as bedding in chinchilla cages? because blankets i find at store say "fleece" on the box, but when i look at the tag on the blanket it says polyester. so can you tell what is safe to use? thanks!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • @jglaser, do chinchillas really really need a running wheel if i let them out for 2 or more hours?

  • @JazzyGurl2738 you know thats a good question.. please ask it at LUCKYS PLACE and see what people say

Mine are out 8 hours a day and they also use their wheels

for me I would say yes..cause thats the way it has always been

  • @jglaser also i wanted to ask how long will it take for a male chins fur to grow back all the way from a fight?

  • @JazzyGurl2738 the best place to get answers to all of these are at Luckys Place

We have real experts there and there isnt enough space here or ti,e to respond

fur slip is a protection...they lose it when afraid . or attacked, fur takes 6- 7 months to grow back, you will need to check your new chin for fungus ,,but most of all like birds he has chewed his own fur...a sure sign or boredom, or abuse. It takes a loving special person to love a chinnie and bring that fur back.

    you're it .

  • @jglaser, im getting a cage from Quality Cage. its the townhome delux, is that good enough?

  • @JazzyGurl2738 sure

  • @jglaser, im going to be getting a 1 year old chin from an abused home.. poor guys fur is half gone. i heard they throw off fur in fights? could you tell me more about that? also, i made an account on Luckys Place :D

  • @JazzyGurl2738 I responded above

  • @jglaser333 What type of fleece do you use?

  • @Russia2point0 I wrote you...its anti pill from Hancock Fabrics

in my opinion they have the best fleece for the best price

I used to buy fleece at Walmart..

the quality of hancock is way better

I love fleece... its in the rabbit cage, guinea pig and chinchilla cage

  • @jglaser333 I also had the same question as @Russia2point0

  • *pet

  • *chin care

  • @jglaser333, I got offered a really good paying job for my age. and I also wondered what your opinion on homemade wood cages? I understand about toxic and safe woods, i have done research about that. but i thought it would be best to ask a pro like yourself :) from what people other people said, chim car costs around 5 grand a year, that sounded a little fake to me.. thats why i worried about cost. but I went yesterday to local pey stores and did math to find i can afford it with the job i have

  • Thank you, This was definately one of the most helpful videos yet. I would have never thought of the fleece idea on my own. But I do have a question when you wash the fleece do you use any detergent or a special detergent?

  • @Russia2point0 yes and thank you

I do use detergent... even have used bleach

I have a nice washer it is energy efficient and does rinse the fabrics well

the detergents I use are the normal ones... SUN, ARM AND HAMMER, even TIDE

  • @jglaser333 sorry i didnt finish my last post all the way, im worried about the cost and the play time. its almost summer, my school is out in 2 months and I might have a job. it will be from 7 am - 3 pm. im also worried about having a chinchilla bite me alot. my last dwarf hamster bit alot, not drawing blood, but nibbling. and I hate getting bit.

  • @JazzyGurl2738 chinchillas do test bites,,,but if treated with respect do not bite normally

if you are worried about the cost ..I am WAY proud of you

I spent 2000 dollars last year on them

you need to be prepared for medical emergencies, monthly supplies, etc

chinchillas are not inexpensive like hamsters etc

    not by a long shot

with all due respect...please consider a different pet

  • @jglaser333, im only worried about the cost of the chinchilla
