  • at 1:18 why are you stabbing yourself why are you stabbing yourself why are you stabbing yourself?

  • "I could not bear it, despair overwhelmed me" Fucking great voice acting, long live Michael Bell.

  • Here's a definition of "abhor", because I had to check a dictionary myself to get its meaning lol.

Abhor: to hate a way of behaving or thinking, often because you think it is not moral.

    E.G:

I abhor all forms of racism.

Superb game, is all I have to say. And yes, I also believe there should be a book off it. Although there exists a comic of the things to come in SR2. It's pretty awesome AND I HAVE IT BWAHAHAHA XD

  • One of the grestest endings i've seen in a game.

  • hahahahhaha its ironic faceing him self :D :D

  • I wonder why he doesn't feel the temporal distortion when he is there with himself. Because his soul is in both forms.....

  • @BlindmansJesus probably because technically both Raziels are 2 different beings. yes they're the same body and everything, but he had no memory or anything of his past life. either that or its just something they couldn't really figure out how to explain so they left it as a hole in the story.

  • Oh my god there's an Ouroboros on the floor! They're not subtle at all!

  • can someone tell me what "history abhors a paradox" means in portuguese?

  • Im kinda disappointed with uncharted since the writer is the same :S

  • Hmm i think i understand your point, you are telling me that kain should already knew that he defeats the hylden in BO2 right? And i know the game doesnt end with defiance, there are still few things we dont know :/

  • Thats what im saying...raziel resurrected janos, providing the hylden with the means to open the gate, kain tried to stop raziel so that they would not use janos for this, he warned him in defiance too,but raziel didnt was in part influenced by the hylden to kill kain

  • Ok... lets see if i get this. Blood Reaver was forged by Vorador, kept by Janos, stolen by Sarafan and laid before Raziel... by Mobeius? Could Mobieus allready know that Raziel should be contained inside Blood reaver to make Soul Reaver. The Sword Kain and William the Just used in their battle. And since Mobious counted on Raz being consumed by the Reaver, is that the sword he gave to William? Because i dont see any other way he could posses it otherwise.

  • Human raziel: Did you hear his cowardly screams, when I tore that black hear out of his carcass.

Vamp. raziel: Wow, I'm a dick.

  • I wonder if true-swords have the Soul Reaver and Sarafan sword?

  • One of the best series in history of video games.

  • The moment when Kain pulls out the sword and Raziel screams is so powerful. You just sit there and stare at him awe.

  • I am looking for the vocabulary that is used in the Soul reaver games... can anyone give me a clue or link of where I might actually find it, please? Thank you.

  • @Zukoiu

In case nobody has answered yet

nosgoth.net is a good site for it

  • @ektoplazma Thank you for telling me. ^__^ Much appreciated. ^__^

  • Damn it why did this game have to end a cliffhanger???

They could have at least added another ending!! Like, if you could get past your Sarafan self without killing him, fight Moebius and gain Janos' heart, and then maybe Raziel could have found out what turned the angelic creatures into vampires... THAT WOULD BE A GOOD ENDING!

  • But if raziel kills his sarafan self how he still lives?that passed before the execution in to abyss right?

  • @SakuraWhish You would think. I'm a little confused myself.

  • lol i dont know whats more confusing the game or the comments on the video xD none the less this is an awesome series and requires you to really think i love this game thank you so much for the cutscenes i have to admit i am not the best at playing through these games xD too impatiant lols and i still think they should make this into a book >.>

  • love how when Raziel says "My history comes full circle", and right where he is standing there is the Ouroboros. Man, talk about symbolism. All I gotta say is that this a GOOD ASS story son fa real.

  • Is the Kain that appears in these various times the same Kain or each time lines Kain? Reason i ask is because if Raziel had died here.. how exactly would the original Kain have had "this" soul reaver, wouldn't the Kain displaced in time ( the one who says" Janous must stay dead" ) take that reaver, seeing as he is without one currently? I'm so confused! and i've played all the games to, lol.

  • so in essence he was the Soul Reaver himself? irony all over thus the eternal paradox unfolds in diefance.

  • @quantum460 The Sarafan Raziel is, as everyone else, ignorant of his destiny. The wraith they battled and fell to would be none other than Raziel's future undead self.

  • Raziel:AH demon, don't you think it is rather suspicious that we have exactly the same voice? Raziel: Not really, you are me after all... now you shall die!

  • the 2 raziels look cool but the human raziel is more of an asshole

  • I still think human Raziel should be able to recognise his own voice. Granted, nobody sounds like they think they do, but you'd still think he'd notice a similarity. Oh well. Hardly the point of this scene, is it?

  • love that cut scene

  • @quantum460 No, he thinks that's just another demon... tho probably an uncommon kind

  • @Rovelius Moebius said to Raziel in the beginning of SR2 that his soldiers wouldn't understand his appearence and would try kill him ( which is impossible). would that say the same for the sarafan?

  • Rovelius, I have played BO and SR all parts.Haven't played defiance yet.I can understand the timeline and paradoxal incidents that occur within the game. What troubles me is that I cannot understand why Kain says Janos must stay dead. Also, I do not understand what part in the timeline has the death of Janos when Sarafan lord throws before Kain's eyes in BO2?

Sorry ,but for that part I got my timeline very very confused. Maybe it's simple. Explanation, please?

  • It is simple, but I'd rather not answer you, unless you really want to get important stuff from Defiance spoiled

  • @Rovelius ^_^

  • @Rovelius History abhors a paradox... Raziel killed himself by returning back to the past. And if there's not Raziel in the past, then there's no Raziel in the future. That's why history had to destroy the one from the future - the wraith blade killed Raziel.

  • @VirgilHilts1944

Oh man, you are so wrong. Raziel form the past HAS to die in order for the future, wraith Raziel to be created. Do you remember? Changing the human Raziel corpse into a vampire, the abyss and stuff.

  • @TochoTheJester Ah yes, I just screwed up :) But Raziel doesn't know who resurrected him by turning him into a vampire. The story is very complex.

  • @VirgilHilts1944

Oh, of course he does. Kain turned Raziel and his vampiric bretheren into vampires and made them his lieutenants. They all were aware, that it is Kains doing. By then, he was the oldest vampire out there. That's why some of them even called him father, or god.

  • @TochoTheJester Hahah, another screw up =) whatever.

  • @Rovelius I still don't think we know what Kain is talking about, even after playing Defiance

  • @linikratyo About the hylden and falling into their trap?I believe he reffers to the events on BO2...?

That may explain why he told Raziel not to raise janos.

Raziel didnt listen and the hylden posessed Janos..later you find him in BO2.

Thats only my theory, but not sure.

However I didnt understood the end of defiance, what did Kain managed to change in history? He stopped the Elder God..but the Pillars?

I love how the history of LOK's.. it makes you use your mind to fit all the pieces together:)

  • @batu04 I don't think you fully understand it :P LoK doesn't end at Defiance, and the only thing Kain did to the Elder God was to piss him off, he didn't really stop him in any way. Janos was possessed by the Hylden Lord, thus giving him the means to open the Hylden Gate and make Janos a slave of the Device. However, both these actions were made undone by Kain at the end of BO2. see next comment -->

  • @linikratyo continuation from previous comment --> So it makes no sense as to why Kain wants to prevent Raziel from resurrecting Janos in SR2 and Defiance. Janos however was casted into the Demon Dimension and can still return later on... Thus the real "hylden trap" might not have been revealed yet.

  • @anemiandEh You should already know the answer to why Janos must stay dead by playing BO2, confusing I know but after knowing the story of all the games you'll be able to piece it together eventually.

  • @anemiandEh In essence the questions you ask hinge on Defiance, while BO2, strangely enough, has parts that answer questions after Defiance. The games themselves are a kind of meta-ouroboros. The middle games have events before and after the events of the first 2 while the last game, Defiance, technically takes place in the middle. However the young Kain from BO2 is not aware of Future Kain from SR2 so he is not aware of certain implications.

  • @anemiandEh

Basically hes trying to prevent the events of Blood Omen 2.

  • @anemiandEh Because when Janos revived (on LoK Defiance) The Lord Hylden possesed his body

  • Surprisingly, I was reading through some forums about this game and a lot of people didn't like it, or just the gameplay. Which surprises me because it is my favorite in the entire series.

  • First of all thanx for uploading! I haven't played defiance but I plan to do so now so I wanted some recap.

I have a question though. I assume that all these events are supposed to happen so that Raziel's soul goes into the Reaver. The only thing that shouldn't be there is future Kain bcus Raziel is supposed to kill him earlier in the game, right? So my question is, who gains possession of the reaver after Raziel kills his past self in the unaltered timeline?

No spoilers for Defiance pls lol.

  • I'll make this brief.

Kain doesn't die in this game. Technically, Raziel was supposed to kill him but they managed to change history so it didn't happen.

Basically, at the start of Defiance. Raziel has been stuck in the Stuck in the Spectral Realm for 500 years with the Elder God, because of the events in this ending. He's scared of going back to the Material realm in case he encounters the reaver again.

And meanwhile, Kain is still stuck in the time where Soul Reaver 2 ended.

  • lol games like this always gets comments about what isnt told and some times what is its fasinating really i love this game aswell

  • Yes, you are certainly correct.

  • lol thank you

  • it doesnt make sense! If raziel is not trapped in the blade, it can never break since he would not be in it. But that soul in the blade, the wraith blade had to be in there somehow. But wait, thats what happens in defiance, Raziel does go into the blade at the end.

But what happens to the wraith blade? Would there be two souls trapped in the blade when it breaks next? Then three, since the sould never continues forward in time after the revear breaks.

  • @hbk92701 The wraithblade was initially just cast out into the aether, but at the end of Defiance, entered into Kain. So Raziel still exists within him.

  • After recently finishing Defiance. I now know why Kain said Janos must stay dead.

It was to prevent the Hylden from possessing Janos. But as we know, it happens anyway thanks to Raziel. I really need to play the rest of this amazing series sometime. That way I'll be able to grasp all of the plot.

  • I love how the camera zooms out as Raziel says the line 'my history comes full circle'.

And what do we see on the floor? A snake. Easting it's tail. The same snake symbol that appears throughout the game.

    Marvelous.

  • But what does the snake eating it's tail mean? Does it allude to the Wheel of Fate, or is it a metaphor for how Raziel defeated his former self?

  • Look up the oroboros. That should make everything clear.

  • @jimbostube2 Oh, of course eternal rebirth, that's what it was...

  • @GmodPlusWoW just plain paradox irony.... to be simple :P

  • ALRIGHT FINE

  • ok then how about dante vs kain... with soul reaver blade as raziel inside the blade

now remember Kain is immortal, teleports, thousands of years of fightning experiance, enormous strength and an indestructable sword that drains souls and blood all in one, also he is immune to sunlight, also he cannot actually die, he also has enormous TK abilties and can control people and objects easily with his mind

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think so. Raziel probably wouldn't undergo any changes at all and he can't kill the Elder God either.

This would be a rather bold move.

  • Comment removed

  • I think Raziel would get raped, literally. He doesn't have much stuff that could stand up to Dante's combos and speed.

    Maybe the Glyphs?

  • Comment removed

  • Just think, if Raziel accepted the sword when Janos gave it to him then he would have been consumed right then and there.

  • This takes "Stop hitting yourself!" to a whole new level! XD

  • Rarely does a game handle time travel so well. The best thing is it's not even futuristic, all of this is middle ages style with vampires and mythology. I just love the way the story seems to wrap around itself getting more complex and fascinating to follow and even by today's standards the voice acting was top quality.

If any videogame really needed a novel adaption it is Legacy of Kain.

  • I second that statement by BoyKagome, God Bless You Rovelius! I always felt that this epic story deserved the silver screen treatment, but then again, I would prefer that they left it alone if bringing it to the big screen would ruin it like so many video game to movie renditions. Now, someone just needs to post the cutscenes from blood omen 2 and the entire story will be complete on youtube!

  • This game stretched and consumed all other games that tried to say they had elaborate plots and vocabulary's. It crushed all of it's competitors in terms of complication and even the most informed of fans admit to learning new things every time they play the game over. God bless to Rovelius.

  • @BoyKagome very right... the covabulary is insane and epic at the same time... hard for me cause english is not my first language :P god bless google translate xD

  • Damn the dialogue, no game can beat this dialog, maybe monkey island, but dosent have epicness of this game :p

  • "you're a self righteous fiend aren't you" - human raziel

"apparently i am" - vamp. raziel hahaha talk about irony

  • man...my mind is soooo blown right now

    lol

    im fuckn lost

    LMAO

  • lolll

  • I just beat the game today. All i can say is, what a great ending. Now making a start on Defiance.

  • I like how as Raziel mentions his history comes full circle, the camera pans out to show the image of the snake devouring itself-- eternity.

  • how magnificent is this series?

    such a shame it ended.

  • PRetty goddamned magnificent.

  • So Raziel has the Wraith Blade, William the Just's healed sword imbued with loads of crap, the Blood Reaver, and now the "Reaver".

Too many damned swords, and no explanation as to where the Hell the previous ones go.

  • Well the game must retains some platforming elements, if it didn't the whole game would be a huge cutscene. Not that I would mind, but if it wasn't for the forges, it would be a bit too straight-forwarded.

  • Also the layout of the area near the pillars in LoK: Defiance is altered because of the paradox (possibly indicating that Kain spent a few years at least in the Sarafan Era)

  • To understand Kain's reaction, go over the story of Blood Omen 2 (set between Blood Omen and Soul Reaver after the paradox created in the Sarafan era)

  • ever get that feeling after watching sumthing a few times u finally relise deeper meanings?:P just relised why kain said janos should stay dead:P cos of wot he knew when he met him:P

  • Indeed.

  • Cheers for putting this all up, it was awesome to watch again, im desperatly praying that the game gets a final ending, and no new bastards better not decide to change certain elemants of the game, i want a proper ending for the game and not censorsed for shitty reaons:P tho other than the demon fights i want to play this again but iv nt gt it with me:(

  • Blood Omen 2 explains that

  • history abhors a paradox wat does that mean

  • roughly translated - history doesn't like someone contradicting what should happen, e.g. Raziel NOT killing the vampire Kain on the day he was born as a human.

  • abhor is another word for hate, despise or loathe. (God the English language has way to many synonyms)

Its saying that history hates how events collide.

  • I believe that the main paradox in all this great drama, is raziel killing himself. If hes dead, then he could not kill himself. If that was just it, then history would banish him, and thats it. BUT since Raziel refused to kill Kain, and Kain refused to kill himself, and a FUTURE Kain gave unlife to a PAST Raziel... well... it all went to crap.

  • "You're a righteous fiend, aren't you?"

    "Apparently I am."

    Best insult ever.

  • he is insulting himself

  • Kind of alot better version of "No! You!" Too bad that human Raziel didn't get that he got BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNED really good.

  • Touche!

    XD

  • cooollll. i love this game

  • My Favorite Game
