I killed him using Quickenings! Dude, I've killed all but 1 of the espers I've obtained using Quickenings. When I saw all my allies MP go to 0, I'd already planned to use an Elixer on Vaan, and do a Quickening. I got a 7 hit, and I was like "He's gonna die" since he had about a 1/7 of his HP left. But he didn't die! One of my guys died, the other was about to, but I was able to hit him and that did the job...
just Imagine:you are going to fight this thing. then you forgot to bring a black belt and it's to late to go back. So you fight him till his Hp drop to almost 0. Now you are thinking just a lil bit more then he use disablega you are affected. You look at the menu, the reserved char are dead. so you wait while wishing for the disable to dissapear but then you are killed by this thing first.
@Blufire1992 Close off 10 and 3, then you should be able to access the South Sluice Gate Control I think it was, then you close off 11 and 4 and close off the North one, then close off 3 and 4 to reach Cuchulainn. If you are not prepared, you WILL get slaughtered, Regardless of how highly levelled you are. I was not expecting an Esper and so did not adequately prepare myself for the fight with Cuchulainn, my party consisted of Ashe, Basch and Vaan all at level 58 - 59.

@lastyou It's unlikely if you dont have good equipment yet. It's highly recommended you level up some more. Problem with relying on Quickenings is that it all comes down to Luck. You could get 5 of level 1, 2 and 3, or you could get 2 level 1's, a level 2 and a level 3. Highly recommended you level some more, get some gil and get better equipment.
Not a hard boss but incredibly annoying with the HP drain, but also fun. To counter it, I just had my characters use Regen (made the hp drain not as bad), Curaja at 50%HP, and Esunaga whenever needed. The Foobars can be easily disposed of with at least two uses of Scourge magick.
This guys Ugly and very jolly....uhhh gives me the creeps...lol. The guide says he was once a Beautiful thing...can't imagine what he'd look like..Santa? lol.
Actually...I beat Cuchulainn level 41 the most...But I think it was 36 or 39, but anyway. I beat this guy without gambits savor attack gambits (I hate gambits, they're annoying and make things too easy). Once you get Curaja just hammer away at him until your attacks start doing crappy and then finish him off with a Quickening Chain. (I actually got Black Hole on this fight so I got very lucky...)
Cúchulainn looks gross. Man, this battle is hard, I haven't managed to beat him yet. Sure, I may suck at Final Fantasy XII, but it's so hard when the HP is constantly being drained during this battle! Dx Thanks for uploading, BTW.
Actually, I take back what I said. You don't need either three of those magics. I just beat him today. Have esuna any and cura when hp <50% set as gambits. Also have the three ether perks(optional). Equip blackbelts. Use a hastega mote if you have one before the battle. Attack cuch hard at first and wait for the 4 foobars. Use a quickening to destroy them all and to damage cuch. Keep pressure on him and hope he uses invert to replenish your mp. Use Quickening again. Switch out party,repeat. Done
This guy is annoying with that sap barrier, and then he inflicts all these ailments and sap on TOP of that too. My team is lvl 43 avg., and I just faced him for the first time today, and it wasn't too bad I brought him down to under half, but I was just unprepared. Some advice, Esunaga and Hastega and prolly curaja would all be useful here.This battle is prolly the hardest battle in the game so far for me, besides that 4 bangaa battle with ba'gammnan.
Or Persona 3, for that matter. Square has a tendency to take mythological figures and put their own spin on them, going as far as to fit them into one of their generic monster types, as they did with Cu Chulainn, here.
Panelo is an excellent healer, though. I would have her on when I needed a dedicated or back up healer - whenever Ashe was tied up in attacking or something. Fran isn't half bad, either, for healing, if you decide to focus her that way on the license board, though I usually set her up with black and time magic.
well you've done some training. I've got Vaan, Balthier, and Ashe at 55 then fran and penelo at 22 and basch at 26. don't train my weak guys a whole lot :P
i don't like the espers of this game..i mean..c'mon, first time i've played i thought that i would find shive,bahamut or some of the others,and then i ve seen THIS..what the hell is this a big fat boy eating whatever/whoever he can..without thinking that by the time you get some cool esper(like zodiark) you will not need it because you can do much more damage with your main attack..for me espers are cool(3/4 of them) but useless
ZODIARK42, it says he was created as a beautiful esper meant to rid the world of impurity and corruption, but there was more corruption and impurity in the world than the gods could even imagine, and since he had swallowed it all, he became fat and ugly and impure himself. Wonder what he looked like before he became fugly...
So there I was, having some fun. I said, hey, now that I got this awesome key, let me use it! So I did! I had fun, you know? I was like, wow, this is really cool! There must be some awesome treasure awaiting me! Imagine my surprise, when I saw a fucking boss come out of the sewer water. Can't imagine it? Well, I shat bricks.
I shat boulders, when I saw that my hp was CONSTANTLY dropping. And then, to top it off, he did immobilizega. Also, I was l around level 33 when I fought this boss.
Why does everyone seem to do this fight at lvls 50? I've beaten him with lvl36-38 characters, just had one person on faith and haste doing nothing but cura and other two attacking the esper.
Also, BLACK BELTS! They prevent disable and so are a MUST. Immobilise isn't a problem since you have range and magic right? And, if you are close to him anyway, then immobilise is pretty useless on you, I think =^-^=
indeed, I beat him an hour ago with all my characters at 38, not too hard, I had my first party make a quickening combo to take out the fuubars, then after they died I switched to my 2nd team, vaan and penolo healed while baltheir did damage, once he got to about 25% I did another quickening, got black hole finisher, and he was down.
this dude's has a lot of equipments u can buy towards the end of the game..so id say he's fightin at lvl 50's cuz hes towards the end and he JUST decided to get this esper after a long time..im doin a perfect game...IM LVL 99 b4 jahara and on the last part of equipments b4 jahara and this is the last part to iy :D
@puppetsan Everyone does this with an avg. Party range of 50 - 60 because it's easier for one, and two, You don't need to rely on Quickening Chains which rely on Luck. If you rely on luck, then there's a chance you could only get Inferno or something puny and then you'll have wasted all your MP so you cant heal, and then you'll get slaughtered by Cuchulainn or the Foobar, either way, You're screwed. It's pretty much all about equipment, by time your near the end of the game you're around lvl 50.
Vaan: bubble(no belt) someone else with bravery gambit on vaan, and vaan berzerking himself. gengi gloves and gengi armor and best head piece. masamune/wyrmhero blade for the sword.
trust me follow that ull see a fast vaan with 3 combos every time, and if ur lvl 90+ they're all 9999's

Why give Sneaky thumbs downs? He is correct... doesn't matter at that level obviously but a correct strategy would be a Curaja spammer, maybe black belts... and shell ain't bad either, helps a bit with status effects... was still a bit hard beating him with lvl 40 though ~~
The easiest Esper is Zalera(fight him at lv.38 or more,Barheim passage.Get the key from doing jobs for Dantro's wife in Eastersand and she will tell you her patient is better and he gives you the key behind her house).Addramelech would be next(Cast blind and slow.He is found in the Zertinan Caverns in Westersand.Fight him with a lv.38 or higher party) and Cuchulainn next(in Gramsythe waterway.Your party level should probably be in the upper 40's).These espers are the earliest ones in the game.
This son of a biscuit is so fucken hard when you don't have Zodiak spear,any beneficial magick that ends with ja',Nihopaloa,and bubble belt.Bastard killed my lv.42 party several times before cornering myself in the northend and wasting so many phoenix downs.I finally whittled his life down so that you could barely see his life when i ran out of phoenix downs,killed my first party and two in my second and was about to kill Basche with a kick, when i threw a knot of rust since magick takes long.
I was around the same lvl when i got him but i went in the fight jus to check him out how strong he was and wat strategies to use to beat but i ended up quickening his ass soo much i ended up beating up it was us luck some how at the end of every chain i would get a mist charge for ashe and so i could start another chain with it that happened around 5 times i didnt even wanted to beat him but i jus got lucky and then i was like f*** trying to fight it normally LOLZ

my battle with him took 25 minutes like 30 phoenix downs, a whole lot of quickenings, and with Basch the only guy standing with like 500hp left...i wish i saw this strategy earlier..
hehe lol i did that too the first time then i was overwhelemed i was just lvl 35 by then. But 2nd time around was much easier. an alternate strategy. Sell a lot of loot and just use gil toss on him. Gil toss also kills foobars if u can't put them on doom using nihopalaoa+remedy. 2 healing characters and gill toss took like 6 minutes of my time then its all done for
After initially casting dispel on Cuc and killing the slimes, my basic tactic was to cast beserk on Vaan and have the other characters constantly cast Cura.(If you have curaja even better) Use black belts to avoid his disable attack. It took me about twelve defeats before I came up with this combo.
You kicked his butt. I just found him today but I got defeated. I thought Cuchulainn was a rank 2 esper but guess I was wrong. I only got Basch and Ash 50, Vaan and Fran 41 and the ones I'm going to train now are Balthier (lvl24 and Penelo (lvl 27). I lost to that Ahriman in the Sochen Cave Palace (the last place before Archades) but I can kick his butt easily now but I'm too busy with hunts. They are so fun. I can defeat rank 5's easily now.
I haven't fought Cuchu (short obviously) yet. I just got passed the Judge Bergan battle...damn was he easy. Anyway, you raped this guy oO I gotta get Save the Queen now...just to see Vaan sit on it XD

I killed this newb wif level 27 my 3 characters. There's an easy way to rap him. You first kill exodus (which is extremely easy...easiest esper ever haha). Then you summon exodus in garamsithe, touch the blue crystal so you recover. Go queklain, exodus does his limit = 30000 less to queklain. Then you summon exodus again and limit him again. Finish the rest of his life wif quickenings. WAHAHAH i did this at lvl 27 as i said.

Omg... Esper just try and kill my uber party of a 39 Vaan and 39 Ashe! XP roffles. The others are 10 13 13 and 13, so just Vaan and Ashe. Yes I purposly left them by the way. Now spam scathe and flare, hope I live, and then maybe go to Ozmone plains for the first time. Sounds like a plan!
I finished this fight miracally without Curaja, esunaja or just in general, all the "ja's"(because im still behind in story). Basically I used balthier and Fran as support to stay alive and take out the foobars and when time's right use ether give cuchu the final blow with quickening. I was lvl 47
I have a problem... the waterway is flooded and I can't get around anywhere... I've been tryin to find a way around but everywhere is flooded... I can't get to the white mouse or Orthos and my dudes are level 80+ and I at the first accent in the story line... any help??

So there I was, having some fun. I said, hey, now that I got this awesome key, let me use it! So I did! I had fun, you know? I was like, wow, this is really cool! There must be some awesome treasure awaiting me! Imagine my surprise, when I saw a fucking boss come out of the sewer water. Can't imagine it? Well, I shat bricks.
I shat boulders, when I saw that my hp was CONSTANTLY dropping. And then, to top it off, he did immobilizega. Also, I was l around level 33 when I fought this boss.

Why does everyone seem to do this fight at lvls 50? I've beaten him with lvl36-38 characters, just had one person on faith and haste doing nothing but cura and other two attacking the esper.
Also, BLACK BELTS! They prevent disable and so are a MUST. Immobilise isn't a problem since you have range and magic right? And, if you are close to him anyway, then immobilise is pretty useless on you, I think =^-^=

indeed, I beat him an hour ago with all my characters at 38, not too hard, I had my first party make a quickening combo to take out the fuubars, then after they died I switched to my 2nd team, vaan and penolo healed while baltheir did damage, once he got to about 25% I did another quickening, got black hole finisher, and he was down.

this dude's has a lot of equipments u can buy towards the end of the game..so id say he's fightin at lvl 50's cuz hes towards the end and he JUST decided to get this esper after a long time..im doin a perfect game...IM LVL 99 b4 jahara and on the last part of equipments b4 jahara and this is the last part to iy :D

@puppetsan Everyone does this with an avg. Party range of 50 - 60 because it's easier for one, and two, You don't need to rely on Quickening Chains which rely on Luck. If you rely on luck, then there's a chance you could only get Inferno or something puny and then you'll have wasted all your MP so you cant heal, and then you'll get slaughtered by Cuchulainn or the Foobar, either way, You're screwed. It's pretty much all about equipment, by time your near the end of the game you're around lvl 50.

Vaan: bubble(no belt) someone else with bravery gambit on vaan, and vaan berzerking himself. gengi gloves and gengi armor and best head piece. masamune/wyrmhero blade for the sword.
trust me follow that ull see a fast vaan with 3 combos every time, and if ur lvl 90+ they're all 9999's

Why give Sneaky thumbs downs? He is correct... doesn't matter at that level obviously but a correct strategy would be a Curaja spammer, maybe black belts... and shell ain't bad either, helps a bit with status effects... was still a bit hard beating him with lvl 40 though ~~

The easiest Esper is Zalera(fight him at lv.38 or more,Barheim passage.Get the key from doing jobs for Dantro's wife in Eastersand and she will tell you her patient is better and he gives you the key behind her house).Addramelech would be next(Cast blind and slow.He is found in the Zertinan Caverns in Westersand.Fight him with a lv.38 or higher party) and Cuchulainn next(in Gramsythe waterway.Your party level should probably be in the upper 40's).These espers are the earliest ones in the game.

This son of a biscuit is so fucken hard when you don't have Zodiak spear,any beneficial magick that ends with ja',Nihopaloa,and bubble belt.Bastard killed my lv.42 party several times before cornering myself in the northend and wasting so many phoenix downs.I finally whittled his life down so that you could barely see his life when i ran out of phoenix downs,killed my first party and two in my second and was about to kill Basche with a kick, when i threw a knot of rust since magick takes long.

I was around the same lvl when i got him but i went in the fight jus to check him out how strong he was and wat strategies to use to beat but i ended up quickening his ass soo much i ended up beating up it was us luck some how at the end of every chain i would get a mist charge for ashe and so i could start another chain with it that happened around 5 times i didnt even wanted to beat him but i jus got lucky and then i was like f*** trying to fight it normally LOLZ

I remember fighting this guy. It was annoying only because the field gave a sap status.
He wasn't as hard as Zeromus, I had magic based characters and it sucked having to fight him

hehe lol i did that too the first time then i was overwhelemed i was just lvl 35 by then. But 2nd time around was much easier. an alternate strategy. Sell a lot of loot and just use gil toss on him. Gil toss also kills foobars if u can't put them on doom using nihopalaoa+remedy. 2 healing characters and gill toss took like 6 minutes of my time then its all done for

After initially casting dispel on Cuc and killing the slimes, my basic tactic was to cast beserk on Vaan and have the other characters constantly cast Cura.(If you have curaja even better) Use black belts to avoid his disable attack. It took me about twelve defeats before I came up with this combo.

You kicked his butt. I just found him today but I got defeated. I thought Cuchulainn was a rank 2 esper but guess I was wrong. I only got Basch and Ash 50, Vaan and Fran 41 and the ones I'm going to train now are Balthier (lvl24 and Penelo (lvl 27). I lost to that Ahriman in the Sochen Cave Palace (the last place before Archades) but I can kick his butt easily now but I'm too busy with hunts. They are so fun. I can defeat rank 5's easily now.

I killed this newb wif level 27 my 3 characters. There's an easy way to rap him. You first kill exodus (which is extremely easy...easiest esper ever haha). Then you summon exodus in garamsithe, touch the blue crystal so you recover. Go queklain, exodus does his limit = 30000 less to queklain. Then you summon exodus again and limit him again. Finish the rest of his life wif quickenings. WAHAHAH i did this at lvl 27 as i said.

Omg... Esper just try and kill my uber party of a 39 Vaan and 39 Ashe! XP roffles. The others are 10 13 13 and 13, so just Vaan and Ashe. Yes I purposly left them by the way. Now spam scathe and flare, hope I live, and then maybe go to Ozmone plains for the first time. Sounds like a plan!

I finished this fight miracally without Curaja, esunaja or just in general, all the "ja's"(because im still behind in story). Basically I used balthier and Fran as support to stay alive and take out the foobars and when time's right use ether give cuchu the final blow with quickening. I was lvl 47

I have a problem... the waterway is flooded and I can't get around anywhere... I've been tryin to find a way around but everywhere is flooded... I can't get to the white mouse or Orthos and my dudes are level 80+ and I at the first accent in the story line... any help??
