Did you really say "take a short walk off a tall cliff"? The idea of specifying the distance of the walk in relation to the surface on which one is walking is to create a potential hazard or circumstance. Now I understand you are implying that you want "haters" to fall off a tall cliff but "a short walk" is 100% unnecessary. If you said "Take a long walk off of a short pier" you are saying "walk in to the ocean" for example, this one uses the distance of the walk and the size of the surface.
